Here's a neat little cookbook for all vegan/vegetarian lovers of the Sriracha sauce, with 50 recipes. Many of them have photos. At the start are the story of the sauce, and an introduction to some ingredients (which also instructs on how to change certain ingredients for more vegetarian/gluten-free versions). At the end is a neat measurement charts, including oven temperatures. Some recipes have smaller recipes and/or tips. The recipes section starts with a recipe for making your own home-made Sriracha, in case you want to try. The rest are devided as: 1. Sauces, starters, & snacks, 2. Soups & stews, 3. Salads & sides, 4. Breakfasts, 5. Main Dishes, and 6. Desserts & drinks (the latter alcoholic type). There were plenty of appealing recipes, and I think at least half of the recipes could be listed immediately as so, even with my picky taste. (No point listing since the recipes are so few, but they still have nice variety within them.) The author introduces each recipe with enthusiasm, and mentions if the recipes was inspired by some person, a book, or a certain eating place. This is a brief-read, but inspiring book, and some parts of the recipes could be used in other recipes outside the book, which makes it even more worth having.

I fully intended to make something spicy when I checked out this cookbook from the library, but in the end, I didn't. Some of the recipes looked okay but some of them, after thinking about it, were just not that appealing. I may someday get out the sriracha (love that stuff!) and try something in here, but not at the moment. A Small Book with Some Big Spicy Flavors I love Sriracha, I use it like most people use ketchup. I have it everyday on something. When I saw there was a Sriracha Cookbook for veggie lovers I preordered it right away. I opened my book and was disappointed by how small it was. How could a flavor as useable as this have such a small book ? I opened it to find beautiful pictures of mouthwatering dishes, each giving my taste buds a little happy dance about what was to come. First recipe I had to try, Hollandaise with Sriracha for my veggie Benedict. Holy spicy loving momma that was so good ! But it didn't make enough double or triple that recipe. I have made most of the recipes in the book the above is by far my favorite. Most are adaptations of recipes common to most with just some added Sriracha, not very original for the long time user of this product. I am glad i bought it, the pictures are inspirational and mouth watering. I think this is a perfect book for somebody who wants t learn how to add this flavor into their dishes.

A more accurate title for this book: The Vegan Veggie-Lover's Sriracha Cookbook. If you do not want to spend all day creating sauces out of raw cashews and nutritional yeast flakes, skip this book. If you want recipes for lots of veggies and simple sriracha goodness, this is not necessarily the book for you. To be fair, most of the recipes do include the note at the end to use eggs instead of tofu, for example, if you are not vegan. Easy, tasty Sriracha recipes, mostly basic. Bonus - recipe for making one's own Sriracha sauce! Delicious! While the homemade recipe is a bit lighter tasting than the store bought bottle, it's good & allows the home cook to control the heat factor. Easy, tasty Sriracha recipes, mostly basic. A couple years ago, the nonvegan version of this came out, and while I read it, there really wasn't anything for me. When I saw that this was being released, I got super excited. And this isn't just a thrown together book with recipes just omitting meat, or side dishes that don't offer the completeness of a meal- it's very well thought out, and the author explains that he went vegetarian shortly after his first sriracha book came out, and is "mostly" vegan. Many, if not the majority of the recipes look quite appealing and tasty to me, yet I have yet to make any, and don't know if I'll end up making them. This is to do with the fact that I am the only one who enjoys spicy foods in my household, and I can't spend the time/money/energy on making recipes only for myself. Though I am intrigued by those peanut butter sriracha cookies (that's testing myself, since I am one of those who enjoy spicy flavours only in savoury food) and I'll definitely make that sriracha salt. While I wish the author wasn't accomodating to include notes on using butter, milk, eggs, and other animal products, since the point is NOT to use those things, and there are unfortunately plenty of recipes that feature them, I did appreciate the gluten free accomodations I suppose- even though my husband is the GF one and wouldn't eat these recipes anyway. ETA: The Srirancha Dressing and Dip recipe is absolutely amazing. I made it twice in as many days. So good. I would make it again right now, but I'm out of lemons and my chives are wilting. So yummy with carrots, celery, tortilla chips, potato chips, or just with your grubby fingers trying to get every last bit out of the bowl. For a dressing, it needs to be thinned out with a bit more soy milk IMO, and doubling the amount of herbs is not gratuitous.

My sister is a sriracha lover. (understatement) I bought a big bottle when she came to stay for awhile. Now, I have another condiment bottle in my refrigerator; I am slowly using since I am a more timid hot sauce user. I saw this on the new books shelf at the library (love libraries!). I picked this up to skim with her in mind and for suggestions to whittle down the bottle. I am interested in trying some of these and passing on the book citation to her. Although we both are not vegans, she and her family are looking to eat more vegetables while I like eating a variety of foods including no-meat meals. I'm also going to take a look at his other book - The Sriracha cookbook: 50 "Rooster Sauce" recipes that pack a punch.

A well put-together vegan cookbook, with easy to follow recipes featuring sriracha or "rooster sauce". I got this book in an attempt to get my sriracha-loving husband to eat my vegan cooking. It worked for the most part. Our favorites are the veggie benedict, broccoli slaw, and the cashew "cheese" spread. I haven't made them all yet, but I'm on my way! Some recipes seem over my head but there are several I personally am excited about and more that I know a few people in my life would love to try. Page 80 has perhaps the most promising one for cauliflower mac and cheeze!
