3.25 RATING- So I know I'm in the minority here, but I really struggled with this one. Now I love a dirty talking alpha hero as much (or more!) than the next girl, but sometimes, it can just be too much. The dirty talk was just too much for me. I just couldn't imagine a man in real life going on and on and on like that. For me, it went from being really sexy to being a bit eye roll worthy. I also thought the book was long and could have used a bit of editing. I really struggled to get through th 3.25 RATING- So I know I'm in the minority here, but I really struggled with this one. I really struggled to get through the first 25%.Then between the long story line and the OTT sex scenes, I was lucky to finish this one. I have several friends who read this and rated it much higher but unfortunately, it just didn't work out for me. I don't plan to read the next book in the series because I find the heroine irritating but do plan on reading Honor's book when it's released. There are 4 sisters in this series and the books revolve about the men they fall in love with. The h is a strong woman with a 4 year old daughter and has been the victim of violence and spousal abuse. The H (Jake) comes in and eventually saves the day, along with a whole host of hot, bad ass, alpha males. This author can really write a good alpha male character. There are so many in the book, this series could go on and on. Some of the actions taken by the h and her sister are not really realistic but I switched to fantasy mode to deal with that. The books are over 300 pages and have a little KA flavor to them. I recommend the series to those who love a hot, alpha-possessive male and a sweet, HEA in the end. No cheating at all. These men are the type that are strong but become totally absorbed in the women they love.

4.5 stars. I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with this when I first started it, as it seemed to go at a slower pace than the first one but I am so glad I did. Really enjoyed the suspense and flood of alpha males, particularly Jacob who was perfect for Harmony and Heaven. Loved seeing him and Heaven together, he was just wonderful with that little girl. I can't wait for Abel and Patience's story, I think my Kindle may just explode with those two going at each other. 4.5 stars. **re-read, 4 1/2 stars, I read this book and really liked it and I know I wrote a review but some of my books and reviews seem to be disappearing on Goodreads:(. This is the second book I read that review has vanished. But I also was 7 books ahead of my reading goal and I looked 20 minutes later and no joke it said I was only 2 books ahead. I'm not going crazy I promise. This was a great book filled with not only a great hero and heroine but side charters as well. **re-read, 4 1/2 stars, I read this book and really liked it and I know I wrote a review but some of my books and reviews seem to be disappearing on Goodreads:(. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with this story after I so looked forward to it. Second in a series it was on my wish list for a while. Considering the first book was novella length and this one is pretty long, I thought it was a bargain. Things that seemed small in the first book, like how bitchy the sisters were to their prospective mates, particularly Patience were amplified in this book. 1. A lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. 2. The heroine and her sisters are bitchy shrews who like to emasculate men and constantly (I. Am. Not. Exaggerating.) say mean and downright nasty things to the men in their lives. It's supposed to show us that these sisters are sassy and strong but they are plain unlikable. A real woman can stand up for herself without threatening to cut off a man's protruding parts or having a temper tantrum like a 2 year old. 3. Scenes in the story are saturated with too much dialogue, sometimes it's supposed to be funny but it just drags. One scene that comes to mind is when Harmony decides to break into Jake's house and calls her sisters to help. There are pages of boring banter that's supposed to be witty but had me putting my Kindle down in frustration. 4. The men become a lot less sexy and appealing when the let these shrews rail at them, not what I want my hero to be. It made me think they were nuts to want these women. I expected to love it and ended up pissed. I thought I'd stick with this series, especially Faith's story, which intrigued me but I'm done. I'm giving 2 stars because of a couple of redeeming (but not enough) things. One, the scene where Faith tells her sisters the details of her assault and two, Heaven, Harmony's daughter and Aunt Orla. *Edited 11/5/15

"Hard as Stone" is the story of Jake and Patience. Jake is an undercover Drug enforcement DEA agent, who decides to come investigate Patience as she was married to Tanner, who is now a drug lord. My issues with this book - oh god the length. I liked the angst, but not the hero. He knew about her past, and from the moment he met her he knew she was the one- so I didn't understand his regrets. Secondly, the whole past with Honor was too difficult to read. Lastly, it is a pet peeve if I see the abuser/rapist in presumed action in a book where I don't expect it (aka not dark romances). I have been waiting for Hot As Stone since I first read Cain’s Salvation. I LOVED that book. Surely nothing could top it, right? I am not sure if Hard As Stone topped it because I really love Cain, BUT, if it didn’t, it is right up there with it. I loved loved loved Hard As Stone. (That is a triple love there you see.) 453 pages read in one day. Yep. I could not put this book down. It was one of those books that had me carrying my iPad around the house with me, to the store, outside while the kid I have been waiting for Hot As Stone since I first read Cain’s Salvation. It was one of those books that had me carrying my iPad around the house with me, to the store, outside while the kids were playing. Anytime I had a spare minute I read and I kept reading until 2 this morning when I finally swiped over to the last page. I actually kept reading still because there is the first chapter of the next book after Hard As Stone and I had to see which sister it was going to be about. Jacob Stone has had one hell of a life. He has been with the DEA and is searching for the man he believes to be responsible for his sister’s death. He has no time for love, he does his job, usually as an undercover agent, and gets out. He isn’t proud of everything he has done, but he isn’t ashamed of it either. Harmony McKinnon. Those McKinnon sisters have more trouble coming to their front door than any other family I have read about. We know from Cain’s Salvation that Harmony was married to Tanner and through that horrible relationship she has a beautiful daughter named Heaven. She doesn’t date, she doesn’t give her heart away, and there are very few men she trusts. These two meet at the family’s restaurant and the story takes off from there. I was so happy to see all of my favorites back in this book. Zeke, Cain, Abel, Aunt Orla, and all of the sisters. I cannot say how much I love the interactions between this family and their extended family. The sisters make me long for more sisters (I suppose I shouldn’t 2 brothers for 2 more sisters). I mean, I love my own sister, but we are not nearly as funny as the 4 McKinnon sisters, though we would protect each other just as fiercely. There were moments in this book where I was snorting I was laughing so hard. I almost facebooked the authors at 1 in the morning because I was rolling in my bed reading the scene where Patience was drugged up. Rolling I tell you. I am surprised I didn’t wake the house up. The wit and the comedic scenes in this book alone are enough to make me keep following Sarah O’Rourke and all of their books! But it isn’t just about the funny. They write amazing dramatic scenes. Storylines that carry over from one book to the next (both Cain’s Salvation and Hard As Stone are stand alones, no cliff hangers). Just an example, as I said before we learned about what happened to both Honor and Harmony in the best. That storyline came back up and was more involved as Sarah weaved details of the past in and out of the current situation, tying it all together. Then there is the hot scenes. Holy cow. I was fanning myself. I think I may have blushed. See, these books, this series, is listed under erotica and THIS is the kind of erotica I like to read. It is not just about sex with some lame story line thrown in. This is an amazing, HOT, suspenseful, dramatic, funny (SO funny) book. It is so much more than erotica, though that is definitely there. I am going to say it again, amazing amazing amazing read! I cannot say enough how much I loved this book. This is seriously one of those books that make you rethink the stars you have rated every single other book, because if this is 5 you are not sure how all the others that you loved were 5s also. I thank the authors so much for my copy of Hard As Stone. One of my favorite books that I have read this year (and I have read 141 books so far this year).

Review for Hard as Stone by Sarah O’Rourke Hard as Stone. HARD AS STONE. Whew. Let me just tell you, every single book I read by Sarah O’Rourke just gets better and better. I have fallen head over heels in love with how Sarah spins a tale. Make you pant, make you shake your kindle in annoyance at the pig-headedness, make you swoon, and drench your panties because GRRR. The heroines, are strong with a bit of sass, but yet have this soft vulnerable side to them that really makes your heart ache to know how hard they have struggled. There are two other things that really stand out to me in the writing style — one is the storyline, I have yet to find one of Sarah’s books that lacks originality or the fast-paced, can’t put it down until I’m done type of plot. Hard as Stone is no different in that aspect. Two is how the characters interact with each other. The relationships have that real feeling. You can tell how much the sisters love one another, even when they are bickering or pushing each other into uncomfortable situations because someone is being stubborn and can’t see what is right in front of them (Cain’s Salvation had a great example of that — never look at a walk-in freezer the same!) Wait, I guess there are three things… the smut. Oh. My. Lord. And have mercy!! Whew. I bow down to the smut goddess’ themselves. Both Crazy 1 & 2 (The duo that make up Sarah O’Rourke) have got some serious smut juju. We all know I read a lot of romance/erotica. I have been lovingly referred to as the ‘Smut Princess’ if I’m the Smut Princess they are the freakin’ QUEENS! Seriously, Jake. Jake. Jake! Jake. Will. Melt. Your. Pants. OFF. I normally say the smut gets wet panties in the books that I read… well this is so hot you’ll literally have your pants melt off. So I would suggest you read it in the privacy of your own home… with a bottle of wine… some slow jams… and have a couple packages of Energizers on hand because you are going to need them! Harmony is one of my favorite of the McKinnon sisters… I love how dedicated she is to her family — both her sisters and her daughter, Heaven, (who is adorable) and beyond the family her town… I grew up in a small town and love that everyone knows each other to some extent and that they look out for each other. Harmony made a few bad choices in her life and unfortunately some of those have come back to call. The sexual tension and well the tension in general between Harmony and Jake is palpable (and hot). This book. Gosh. There are so many things I want to say about the storyline, but I freaking hate spoilers and I honestly don’t trust myself to talk about it without ruining the important parts. I will tell you this much… there are some lies, some hard truths, a cute kid that kind of melted my heart, some snarky sisters, a handful of hot men… and some bad guys. I love when my romance gives me a bit of mystery/suspense and then you give me some super hot smut? Sign me up every single time! I can not wait to read the rest of the series. Sarah tells me I have to wait for Honor’s book, but I don’t know how I’m going to manage! Hard As Stone gets a full FIVE stars from me and FIVE drenched panties and a pair of melted pants! A Mommy’s a Book Whore MUST READ NOW!! Review by the Head Whore.

Drop what you are doing and read this book!!!! This is book two in the Passion in Paradise: The Men of the McKinnon Sisters Series, but it can be read as a standalone. Once I opened the first page I couldn't put it down (I took a couple of breaks in the two days it took me to read it cause I was on vacation, lol). The book is well written, in true Sarah O'Rourke fashion. The characters, most of which we met in book one are hard not to love, and the new ones as well. The book is well written, in true Sarah O'Rourke fashion. The characters, most of which we met in book one are hard not to love, and the new ones as well. This book will take you on a roller coaster of emotions and I promise you will love every minute of it. Harmony is the oldest of the McKinnon sisters and a single mother. She has had a terrible experience with a man, her ex-husband and father of her daughter, she does no longer believe she can fall in love or trust a man ever again. She is strong, determined and I love her character. Her daughter Heaven, is the most precious thing, and she is hilarious. Jacob Stone is an undercover DEA agent who moves to Paradise after his sources inform him, the man he's been after for so many years to avenge his sister's death, is looking to set up shop in the little town in Tennessee. He has lived as an undercover agent for the past 20 years and he has never looked into settling down in one place and start a family, he thought that was no longer in the cards for him. That is until he sets eyes on Harmony and everything he thought he knew, everything he was living for flies out the window. Once Harmony decides to give Jake a chance, there is no stopping Jake from making her see that they belong together. Taking her on a first date was no easy task since Harmony did not date, but with a little help from the adorable Heaven, they were on their way to starting their love story. And then s*** hits the fan and all hell breaks loose!!!! What's a really good book without some drama and craziness?? Let me just tell you, this book has it all, romance, drama, comedy, tears, many tears, sad and happy ones, it also has action, mystery, family drama, swoon moments and a whole lotta hot sexy scenes. What I love the most about this series is how close the McKinnon sisters are, and the people in their town they have come to call family, they protect each other as well as fight each other. I have to give a shoutout to Maggie, I LOVED her character, I'm really hoping she gets a book *wink* *wink*. I'm sitting here, hours after I finished reading it with the biggest book hangover ever, unable to start anything else, in case you don't know me, this means it was a helluva book!! I can't wait for what's to come for the McKinnon sisters. I can't get enough of this series and I'm a greedy reader, anyways, can I get book three sometime next week?? LOL.... Just kidding, just kidding. But seriously, I can't recommend this book enough, this series enough, these authors enough. Get one clicking so you can meet Jake and fall in love!! <3

Each sister has had something traumatic in one form or another happen to them that still haunts them. It takes their faith and the men that are in their lives to help them overcome their tragedies. Harmony McKinnon is the oldest of the sisters and the only one that has been previously married and has a young daughter. Harmony has never forgiven herself for not listening to her parents when she met a boy when she was 16 and they tried telling her he was no good. She defied them and went on to marry him when she turned 18 which estranged her from her parents. It wasnt long before she realized she'd made a huge mistake but her pride kept her from leaving her abusive marriage and going home. Then tragedy struck and took both her parents from her before she got the chance to tell them she was sorry and they were right. After one of the worst beatings of her life the town sheriff manages to rush a divorce through and run the ex out of town. Since then Harmony has only lived for her daughter and working at the family restaurant and starting up a new business as a wedding planner. She has vowed to never get involved with a man again. Jacob Stone is a DEA agent who is in town on vacation yet also undercover to bring down the man he holds responsible for the death of his sister. As Harmony's ex works for the drug dealer and is rumored will be showing up in town to create a new location to run their drugs from Florida, Jacob lies in wait. What he didnt count on was falling for Harmony and her daughter knowing he was keeping a big secret from them that could endanger their lives. Things get a lot more intense in this one as the bad guys are not only tied to Harmony but also to her other sister Honor and the circumstances of her gang rape many years ago. My heart broke for Honor through out this book and the state she's left in by the end. It has a great resolution for Harmony and Jacob but poor Honor's story doesn't conclude until the last book in the series.

The second Jacob Stone met Harmony McKinnon, he knew she was his one. Jacob had to tread delicately with Harmony for a few reasons, the biggest the reason he is there. Harmony has not dated since she divorced his sadistic ex, everything about Jacob screams bad boy but Harmony finds she is also learning to trust him. You have four McKinnon sisters, all vastly different and all head strong. They swarm together protecting one another and reference Steel Magnolias. I thought the parallel was perfect, one moment you are smiling, then crying and then laughing so hard you have to put the book down briefly because you can't catch a break. Best book I have read this month.

My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: “Have you seen the ass on that man? You could bounce a quarter off him and make yourself fifty cents!” “Jacob Stone was YUMMY with extra emphasis place on the YUM. Completely freaking edible, her libido sang joyously as her girly parts did a happy little dance beneath her dress.” “Still spry at 71, her aunt could still do many things, but coordinating an outfit wasn’t among them. Eying the old woman’s orange skirt and purple shirt only reinforced what she already knew. My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: “Have you seen the ass on that man? This is the second book in the series. When I read the first one I was blown away and I thought NOTHING could top that one but I was WRONG. This was such a good book. I fell in love with Jacob as much as I fell in love with Cain in the first one. This author is fast becoming a must read author for me.....

It was well written sexy story with lots of action but I wish the author would have developed their relationship better. It pretty much started out with him saying we are together forever, end of.

Much better than book 1 but dragged a bit in the storytelling. Will be looking for Abel and Patience's book when it comes out. Much better than book 1 but dragged a bit in the storytelling. Will be looking for Abel and Patience's book when it comes out.

This man had me when he first got there, his honesty is refreshing, he never holds back what he thinks and never apologizes either. Yeah, he does keep why he’s there from Harmony, but he was trying to protect her and make sure the family was not involved, works for me. Harmony is a single mother, trying to raise her daughter the best she can and trying to forget the mistake she made that was her ex-husband....yeah, p.o.s. all the way that one. Jake comes in and already knows he wants to keep her. She is very guarded, as she should be, and really makes him work for it. He’s there to catch some bad guys and knows that her family is the key. Throughout this book we get to see what a wonderful person my Jake is, he treats Harmony’s daughter Heaven like his own and treats them both like the treasures they are. Great storyline and great supporting characters. Her sisters and aunt Orla are about the funniest people...Patience is my soul sister...flove that girls character. We get to find out a little more of the story about the night Honor was taken😩. And a little bit more of that gets resolved. This was a safe read, hot af. Pretty sure my Jake is king of the dirty talk😈. Not really any om or ow drama per say, a town slut tries to make the move on Jake, which he very bluntly shuts down (see, mine) and her ex-husband shows up, but he was just causing the story drama/suspense. As with the other books in the series, it was highly emotional at times and pulled out all the feels. A great epilogue eleven years into the future and hea. This was definitely my favorite book of the series, ok, ok, Jake is my favorite of the series, freaking adore that guy on so many levels. This series is pretty much book crack for me, I always want more.

I am really struggling with this. 1. It is waaaaay too long 2. The sisters are pissing me off 3. The Aunt is a really bad caricature... see I can't even remember her name and she was in the last chapter 4. The 'men' are idiots - the only one of the main 4 that ( at the moment ) is redeemable is Zeke 5. Information is good. Forewarned is definitely good. If dickhead Jake had actually told Harmony what was going on... she would've been prepared 6. I am all for an alpha... but puh-leaze. Jake is a twat. 7 I am really struggling with this. 1. Drugging Honor without her knowledge was not OK... control is important, particularly if you have been in a situation where you have no control... like say... rape. 8. I don't like the repetitive 'the lady doth protest too much' tones... 9. I can't even... I think my biggest problem is the fact that I really wanted to more than like this series. Was definitely looking for something with a Kristen Ashley flavour... but, currently, these are reading like a really really bad cover band. I am going to persevere cos I want to read Honor's story... fingers crossed I'll get there. Nooope. Given up - Jake stripping off and dragging her into the shower? The whole 'I know what's good for you, better than you can ever know'... pathetic. Not alpha... controlling... abusive. Wrong.

Hard as Stone When undercover DEA agent Jacob Stone comes into town all his preconceived notions about Harmony goes out the window. She and her sisters are loved by everyone in their hometown. But bad things happen. When her abusive ex husband comes back old memories come to light. Is Jake the right man to help her out? What about the past? Will there be answers to what happened to Honor? This is the second book in this series. And so far I have lived them.

An intense family drama This book was such an intense story. It's filled with lots of drama from an extremely close family, some terrible characters, terrible deeds and some amazingly protective family and friends. That made this one very interesting story that pulled me in and kept my attention until the very last word. An intense family drama This book was such an intense story. I love the all the characters in this book, the sister are priceless and lil miss.Heaven had me in stiches. Let’s just say you will never hear “the farm and the del” again without cracking up. This book will have you from the word go. Sarah was able to give you every bit of information you could possibly want without making you roll your eyes hoping that it would just be over with. The way she was able to put every detail in without boring me to tears was amazing. This is defiantly one of my top 10 favorite reads so far this year. So without further ado let me introduce you to Jacob Stone and Harmony (along with her crazy ass sisters that this story would not be the same without..lol) Jacob Stone…my oh my he is my definition of an alpha male that will have you drooling all over this book. He is ex-military and now an undercover DEA agent. He pursued the DEA job to seek vengeance for the death of his sister. The DEA world has nicknamed him the widow maker and he is known to take a life without blinking an eye, when he gets a tip that the man he has been looking for is planning on starting up a new drug base in the small town of Paradise he goes there on “vacation” to do his own investigating. What he doesn’t expect is that the family of women who he has been told has ties to one of the key players in the drug ring will turn his life upside down in the best possible way. He goes in expecting to use Harmony as a pawn in his game but once he meets her and looks into her eyes he knows that this is the women that he wants to lay down his life for. Only problem is he falls head over heels in love with Harmony and her daughter Heaven but he still hasn’t told her what actually brought him to Paradise in the first place. Now with time no longer on his side he needs to find a way to protect everything that he has now found to live for but the drug world has other ideas, along with Harmony’s ex-husband. “Life is filled with shots, Zeke. Some I’ve missed. Some I’ve thrown away. Some I’ve avoided. But Harmony McKinnon is my shot…my shot at good and clean and pure…my shot in ways you can’t even understand. She’s my last shot at happy. And believe me, I’m takin’ it.” Harmony is an amazing character, I love the fact the can be vulnerable and downright hard headed and stands up for her family. When she was 16 she fell in love with her husband and on the day of graduation she ran off to marry him against the wishes of her family. When she returns her parents tell her to choose him or her family, she chooses him and it a decision that will haunt her for the rest of her life. When her husband fails to pick up Harmony’s younger sister Honor one night it turns to tragedy. Honor was kidnapped and raped, then left for dead. Thankfully she was found but in turn Harmony goes after her husband to tell him it’s over, he could beat on her and treat her like crap but she could never forgive him for putting her baby sister’s life in danger. Unfortunately this leads to the worst beating of her life, in the aftermath she finds out that she is pregnant but with the help of the local law man Zeke(who by the way is one hot ass man too) and the local attorney Able(another nice piece with a shall we sat decorated tree…lol) she gets a divorce and all his rights to his daughter. “I can’t promise clear skies, darlin’,” Jacob admitted quietly. “But I can damn sure be there with the umbrella when that rain falls.” For years Harmony shut down from men but when Jacob comes into her world like a bull in a china shop she finds herself starting to feel things she swears she never will again. But with this hat as hell alpha male she has no choice but to fall in love and do it kicking and screaming. The chemistry between Jacob and Harmony is off the freaking charts and I’m pretty sure that like Harmony had with the new shower I may have had a mini orgasm over this book. So if I haven’t convinced you to read this book yet I have some more to my arsenal in the way of Patience and Faith, Harmony’s other sisters. Holy crap Patience will have you laughing till you cry. I don’t want to give too much away but there is part where she is high on morphine that will have you laughing till it hurts. And the best part hers and Able's story is coming out next So really all I can say to you all is read this book, you won’t be disappointed. Cheers to you Sarah on an amazing series and thank you for brining Jacob Stone into my world!!

In the second book we move on to Harmony and Heaven as our main characters while learning more and more about the other two McKinnon's - Patience and Honor. The story keeps you hooked. Harmony and Patience are extra sassy and full of surprises. We meet a new hero and villain as well... what story world be any good without all those ;) The men continue to make their mistakes, some that could lead to disaster. And now a bit about the story... Harmony is a single mom and happy, or so she thought. When Jacob Stone rolled into town her world is turned upside down. Her track record with men is awful and she tries really hard to ignore Jake. Stone is a Harley riding mystery with long hair and tattoos, but the would be bad boy had fallen for Harmony and Heaven, her four year old daughter. What Harmony doesn't know is Jake is DEA and he is there to decide if she is part of the next big drug play or if she is at risk. Before he is even in town a few minutes he knows she is innocent and he MUST protect her and her whole family, but will she forgive him when she finds out? How can he protect her if she pushes him away? Zeke, the local sheriff, figures out what he is up to and while all the men in the McKinnon's life are in the loop the women are left hanging out in the wind. It isn't until Tanner shows up threatening Harmony and all she holds dear that the story breaks free. The ending was a surprise to me as well, I love when books aren't predictable :). Can't wait for the next one to see the torture Patience puts Abel through... Favorite passages: - Either way, it wasn't Zeke's fault that Jacob felt like a whore attending a cotillion when he stood beside the other man. - "When a man gets lucky enough to take a pretty woman like you out for the evening, then he damn well should show up with flowers, Harmony. If he doesn't, you kick his ass to the curb." - "Christ, will you calm d- own? I can only handle one hysterical woman at a time," Jacob whispered violently into the phone. [talking to Zeke] - "Either way, neither of those so-called faults is gonna keep me from claimin' you." "I'm not undiscovered territory, Jacob," Harmony retorted sharply. "I'm a woman. And I'm not looking to be claimed. Not by you or anybody else. Go take you flag and plant it someplace else." - Sweet Lord, the man was part-octopus. - "For once, can't you cut me a break and stay where I put you?" Honor raised an eyebrow at the angry man. "I'm sorry. You must have mistaken me for a German Shepard." - "In that case, Zeke was right. That was a foolish thing to do." Honor frowned at her sister. "And if you tell him I said that, I'll burn your pancakes for a month." - She was flourishing under his attention, shedding her inhibitions, spreading her wings, and flying higher than she'd ever imagined possible. - "I can't promise clear skies, darlin'," Jacob admitted quietly. "But I can damn sure be there with the umbrella when that rain falls." - A sperm donor didn't make a man a daddy, and that bastard wasn't getting anywhere near this precious girl again. - Jake snorted. “He’s also a horny teenage boy, Harmony, and I wanna make sure that he knows if he chooses to get frisky with my Princess then I’ll be forced to geld him.” - “You go to jail for protecting my daughter, then I’ll post your bail,” Jake assured him. - We’ve got a Sheriff , an attorney and a coroner in our family. Together, we can make anything look like an accident. Understood?”

Hard As Stone (Passion in Paradise: The Men of the McKinnon Sisters #2) by Sarah O'Rourke Jacob "The Widowmaker" and Harmony "The Nice One" BEAUTIFUL, GUT WRENCHING, AND SATISFYING! I am in awe! This book was so much more than I ever thought it would be. It's packed with so many emotions that I'm pretty sure I was weeping and laughing at the same damn time! We have rough and tough alpha males facing off. We've got the McKinnon sisters pouncing and bouncing off the walls.... AND then there's Heave Hard As Stone (Passion in Paradise: The Men of the McKinnon Sisters #2) by Sarah O'Rourke Jacob "The Widowmaker" and Harmony "The Nice One" BEAUTIFUL, GUT WRENCHING, AND SATISFYING! AND then there's Heaven. OMG... so sweet, so funny, and so damn adorable that I'm gonna make myself her honorary aunt. I just love that little lovebug and we are sooo watching Steel Magnolias! Jacob Stone, or Jake as Harmony calls him is a bit of a mystery in the beginning and for good reason, but I seriously doubt his abilities to handle a McKinnon woman! I mean, what kind of man doesn't have Nutterbutters!!! Thank God he had a little bit of assistance from Zeke and Able! LOL! "Cookies, lots of cookies!" I wouldn't mind going a few rounds with "Mistah Jake," but I'm pretty sure Harmony and her sister soiree would kick my ass right out of Paradise. Now Harmony, well, this one is hard for me to detail... she comes across as withdrawn and fragile in a way, but you get her riled ever so slightly and she's spitting nails atcha! Must be the collective backbone between those four crazy sisters... if one falls, they all fall... and then they pick each other back up. She's a first-rate Mother and the greatest sister although she'd tell you otherwise (don't listen to her) she's remarkable! This story has one of the best supporting character casts evah!! Let me start with my fave... Patience... The Spitfire.. The Hellion... Holy hell... she can be my wingman anytime! She's the toughest and funniest of all the McKinnon sisters. She tells it like it is and doesn't hold back... I mean, how could she? She has no filter! <3 Her! Patience: "I didn't even think I'd e-ver wanna do him again, but now... ROAR!" My second fave is Able... probably cause he had to put up with so much shit from Patience! LOL! After reading the blurb at the end of this book... I'm liking him even more... can't wait to read more about him and the Hellion!!! Able: "Pay no attention to the stoned woman." Now Honor and Faith... they both have a special place in my heart and always will. They both suffered so much that my heart broke right along with theirs. One more mention... Aunt Orla, wow, just wow! So funny and full of wisdom, her nieces would do so much better if they just listened to her... well except for the "little blue pill" advise. Onto the villian... Tanner... hate that POS and I can't tell you how much I wanted to throw my Kindle up against the wall on account of him. He makes this story so suspenseful and gripping that you almost have to love to hate him! Ooo... ooo, I almost forgot Maggie... she's another one that'll make you bellie laugh! Maggie: "Come see the softer side of snipers!" All in all, the story was very compelling, the dialogue flows very nicely and feels natural. There was plenty of tension, sexual content, and hilarity leading up to the climax that within these 453 (Kindle version) pages you'll run through a gamut of emotions, but come out a better person on the other side! Great job you "Two Crazies!" 5 Stars!!

What Worked For Me: WOW! Just….simply put….WOW! There are not enough adequate words to describe how completely my mind was blown reading Hard As Stone! Sarah O’Rourke ratchets things up a notch in book 2 of this series…and by things I mean EVERYTHING, the suspense, the drama, the laughter, the tears and the deeply sexual and highly erotic relationship between the next McKinnon Sister and her deliciously hunky hero!!!! Harmony McKinnon is our heroine in this book and I adore her. She has not had it easy but she is holding strong and living life while raising her daughter, the product of an abusive relationship during her rebellious youth. She is the epitome of responsibility and maturity now, especially for the sake of her daughter, and the guilt she feels about her past and the effect it had on the lives of her sisters and her parents. Enter Jake, our yummy and drool-worthy hero, who comes into the picture under less than honest circumstances but soon discovers that his reasons for being in Paradise mean nothing in the face of what he is feeling for Harmony and her daughter. In them he has found love and a chance at a family and even vengeance pales in comparison to what he desperately wants from them. Their relationship, and the feelings they invoke in one another….goodness gracious! It is sheer beauty! It is like watching a gorgeous sunset…so pale and soft to start and then it explodes in all these bright and wondrous colors….it simply takes your breath away. That is how I describe the relationship between Jake and Harmony. I loved every second of the journey between them. I cheered for them when they found their way, and I also fought with them when Harmony found out Jake’s real reason for being in Paradise and it looked like hope of a future for them may be lost (yep, I was wanting to get in some knee to the nuts shots here myself). And Harmony’s daughter, Heaven? She was adorable! I loved how the author created a relationship between Jake and Heaven that was completely separate from the relationship between Harmony and Jake. We get to see this family in action even more than in book one and the things they have been through will blow your mind, most especially the youngest sibling, Honor. It has forged a very strong bond between them and we get to see how that bond is tested and holds true time and again while reading this book. There is a very evil villain at work here, probably one of the worst I have ever read and plenty of surprises that keep you sitting on the edge of your seat from one word to the next. Hard As Stone is the epitome of everything I want in my Contemporary Erotic Romantic Suspense books. It has a very engaging characters, an easy to understand but enjoyable plot that keeps you guessing and entertained at all times, highly charged and erotic sex scenes, heart-tugging emotion, gut-clenching laughter, and even allows you to shed some tears. Very few books can move me the way this book did and I can happily say that the duo of Sarah O’Rourke is becoming a favorite author of mine. I can’t wait to see what the next book in this series will bring! What Didn’t Work For Me: Once again, a flawless masterpiece. The entire book worked! Would I Recommend This Book: Yes! Most especially to my reading friends who love romantic suspense with erotic sex thrown in! Final Star Rating: 5
