Too many recipes that are complicated or that require specialty ingredients. I’m making one recipe from this cookbook: skirt steak marinated in lemon juice, acv, olive oil, and several seasonings. I’m marinating the meat now and will cook tomorrow.

This book is great for anyone who is new to the Mediterranean Diet because it gives you an overview of the basic principles of the lifestyle and diet of the Mediterranean. It’s written by Denise Hazime, who also writes about her love of Mediterranean cooking on her website dedemed.com. Denise grew up in a large Lebanese family where she was initiated into the art of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking at a very young age. This is not just an instructional book, though. It’s a well-rounded cookbook with over 200 recipes for every meal or occasion, including breakfast, brunch, lunch, main meals, snacks, condiments, and dessert. I only keep a few “staple” cookbooks in my kitchen that I reference on a consistent basis, and this cookbook will be added to that collection. The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook Teaches You: - The history and benefits of the Mediterranean Diet - Why the Mediterranean Diet is a whole lifestyle change and not just a diet change - An intro to the basic foods and ingredients of the diet - What to stock your pantry with Why I Like the Mediterranean Diet Cookbook I was excited to get this book because of all of the recipes it contains. The over 200 recipes contained in this cookbook are healthy and based on lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, legume, fish, and more. One thing that really excites me about the recipes in this book is that they are simple. This struck me as a cookbook that any person could pick up and begin making recipes from, even if they are completely new to healthy eating. It’s a great transition from the Standard American Diet (SAD) into a healthier way of life. I recommend this book to anyone who is new to the Mediterranean Diet and wants to know what it’s about and the basics of getting started, or to anyone who is already following a Mediterranean Diet and wants to add over 200 recipes to their collection.
