The Computers Are Coming!

Not sure why I love reading out-of-date fundamentalist dispensationalist eschatology. This one's from the 1970s, and paints a dire warning concerning the (what would have been 8-bit) computers that were on their way. I've included two of the authors' paranoid rantings: 1) "The battle, according to Andrew Aines of the National Science Foundation, is really over who will control the computerized beast that will one day, on a world-wide basis, dictate the working, buying, and selling of every person Not sure why I love reading out-of-date fundamentalist dispensationalist eschatology. Who will be given the authority to program it? Who could be trusted with such awesome power? The World Church of course!" 2) "Through computers man can again talk with the animals and the animals can talk with man. However, we must remember that the interrupting of communications between man and the animals was a restriction placed by God because of the sin problem, a condition that was not to be resolved until the return of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must conclude that this is just one more example of how the knowledge explosion is encouraging man to cast off the bonds established by God. The Scriptures indicate that Satan will use such knowledge to attempt to establish his evil kingdom upon the earth. . . . Thus, we must consider the possibility that the use of the computer to spy out God's secrets and control the animal world may be the reason that the animals and the fowls will rebel when iniquity on earth reaches its peak during the Tribulation."
