I received this book free for review from the author or publisher in exchange for an honest review. Despite the coolness of receiving a free book, I’m absolutely candid about it below because I believe authors and readers will benefit most from honest reviews rather than vacuous 5-star reviews. * Rated 5-15 age range by Amazon which is a HUGE span of time. Despite the coolness of receiving a free book, I’m absolutely candid about it below because I believe authors and readers will benefit most from honest reviews rather than vacuous 5-star reviews. * Rated 5-15 age range by Amazon which is a HUGE span of time. It's unclear to me who the real target audience is. The pictures are very apropos for a small child yet the text uses words like 'placated' and early on in the story an old woman's body is found. * Peppered with grammar mistakes such as the misuse of the possessive. I always hate seeing grammar problems in books for children. Also a few spelling errors. * Text contains a live and valid URL for a lost dog database which strikes me as a bit odd. Like seeing a real phone number in a movie rather than the standard 555. * With kids books I always look for some overarching lesson or point and honestly I don't think I see one here. The Kids do, essentially, a good deed but it's not terribly clear what the ultimate relevance of that deed was. PS: I hope my review was helpful. If it was not, then please let me know what I left out that you’d want to know. I always aim to improve.

Seasonally entertaining for kids to learn about ghosts, and maybe make art projects about ghosts but not much educational value, meaning for the classroom. Fun and light reading for students who are interested in ghosts.
