    I love the actual book, which I read many years ago ... but I despise the title!!! It isn't a "diet" in terms of giving you a food prescription and plan. What this workbook and the book offer is a way to move from "diet" mentality to lifestyle mentality by rewiring the way you approach eating and food. It allows you to work through sabotaging thoughts and replace them with affirming and helpful thoughts and beliefs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is what the book and process is based on.     I bought this at the same time I bought the actual book and wish I would’ve known that you don’t need both. The workbook would be good for like a refresher but it’s the exact same thing as the book, you don’t need both.

    This is a six week course to help you succeed on whatever diet you choose. It is not a diet in and of itself, but tools to use to learn how to eat normally. It is divided into days and each day is an new habit to help you to stay on target. I am still using this book, but not as much as I would like. I love the program, but finding time to really focus on it, is hard for me right now. I am going to keep on trying though. There is not short cut to weight loss.

    One thing I never learned about dieting and maintaining a healthy weight was how to change my way of thinking about food and how to keep myself in check even after the weight is gone. I highly recommend Beck's book because it may have been the key to unlocking how to get healthy and stay that way. It's not a diet. It is cognitive behavioral therapy for people who want to change the way they think about food and healthy habits.
