Or if you are like me a new fan to the the series only reading one previous book you are in for an enchanting, heartfelt read with unforgettable characters, with twists and turns, sabotage, secrets and a murder. As you can guess Darci Merriweather is a witch who lives in Salem, Massachusetts, with her Aunt Ve and many other crafter aka witch friends. Darcy is the proprietor of “As you Wish” a personal concierge service that is becoming known for private investigating. The cool thing is is that Darcy has the ability to grant wishes but she and along with her sister Harper who has yet to accept her fate as a witch have to live among the mortals in secret not revealing they are witches or their abilities. Ivy Teasdale is organizing the “Pawsitively Enchanting Pet Extravaganza, it is a annual event and competition featuring animals in the village from all walks of life, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, even a Nigerian dwarf goat named, Cookie. Ivy asks Darcy to watch over the event and keep her eye on Natasha and her cat Titania who has continuously won the competition by not so fair means. Ivy thinks that Natasha is up to no good by sabotaging previous competitors in past years and she she does not want the same to happen this year. Natasha suddenly collapses at Darcy's feet and is pronounced dead by poisoning. While Darcy is the search for the elders identity she knows her aunt is keeping secrets from her. With another poisoning and animal competitors being “petnapped” Ivy once again asks Darcy to help find Natasha's killer but it proves difficult as they are mortals and it's against witch laws. Jealousy, cheating and revenge, talking animals made this such a delightful and suspense filled page turner. I love Pepe and Mrs. P somehow reminded me of the talking mice in Cinderella and that is one of my favorite movies as a child. Archie, the bird and Cookie the goat had me in stitches with their antics. If you are looking for an escape to an enchanted village with good witches and some evil characters read Gone with the Witch and feel the magic. Another instalment of A Wishcraft Mystery. In this one Darcy's romance with Nick continues, as does her search to figure out the elder's identity. There is a pet show, a murder, some petnapping, and more mysteries for Darcy to solve. An enchanting and magical read. I truly enjoyed Darcy and her friends and Enchanted Village during the events surrounding the Pawsitively Enchanting Pet Extravaganza. Even though I have not read the first five books in the series, I did not feel lost or feel that I had missed something crucial to this delightful tale. There is enough backstory included that it clued me in on many things that had previously occurred, without bogging the story down. It certainly makes me want to start the series with It Takes a Witch and really immerse myself in Enchanted Village and get to know all of its residents better and see what led up to the events occurring in this book. This is the sixth book of seven in this series and they only get better with each new book. You should start from the first book to get the best overall enjoyment of this series. The characters, both human and Crafters are well done. The Enchanted Village, its inhabitants and their pets make for an entertaining background. The murder plots involve both Crafters and humans and are as twisted as Witchcraft can make them. There are plenty of clues to follow to the final confrontation. This is one of my very favorite paranormal cozy series to read. I recommend it to all cozy mystery fans. Don't be put off by the paranormal aspect, just enjoy the excellent murder mystery.

I love how a cleverly disguised witch themed tourist destination allows mortals and Wishcraters to live side by side in the Enchanted Village, unbeknownst to the mortals. The characters are well developed and their relationships with each other are always evolving. This sixth book in the series does not disappoint. The tone of the book and the charm of its characters and village are consistent with the previous books. The murder mystery kept me speculating until the end. Of course, there are several secondary mysteries, puzzling behaviors, and relationship developments that also kept me engaged in the well entwined plot. The Elder is finally revealed. Although I had already figured out who it was, it touched my heart to see how this unveiling played out. Despite the Enchanted Village’s murder rate escalating since Darcy’s and Harper’s arrival, I wish I could grab a coffee and pastry (from the Gingerbread House) and visit with all these fun characters on the green as Archie serenades us with show tunes. Is Darcy’s skin tingling? Even if my wish is not granted, the Witch and the Dead being released in October will allow me to escape to this magical village again. I wish it were October. Whether family/friend relationships, witchyness, or investigating, there is always a cacophony of things going on within the Merriweather clan. Excessive curiosity on Darcy's part regarding the Elder and other witchy business, daily life that is not without its chaotic moments, which include familiars and guarded yet good, witchy practices around the village, and of course the ever growing relationship she has with the man she loves, Nick and his daughter Mimi. I love her interactions with all whom she's close to; they're light, heartfelt, and honest. Twists and turns and other various contortions with Darcy and all that she's embroiled in makes this series a must read. Always a favorite. Enjoy, CONNIE

I absolutely LOVE this series! Bears repeating for me that Ms. Blake/Webber is incapable of writing a bad book! I love how the characters in these books grow and change, as people and in their relationships. The main premise of this one is murder at a pet extravaganza, but there is SO much more going here, including petnapping. There are several suspects, especially since the victim was not a nice person, and Darcy is right in the thick of things. I loved this installment of this series. There was a big secret revealed which I have been waiting for. Cute cozy mystery, though it took me a while to warm up to the pet show setting of this one. Also, once we had the body I was pretty sure whodunnit (toward the start of the book, I was pretty sure that one of two people would end up as the corpse, and the other would be the killer, and I was right) but there were other aspects of the mystery for this one, too. Some of those I guessed right, and for others I was way in left field. Enjoyable overall.

2020 bk 38. A dog show, complete with parrot napping, dog snatching, and murder. Can our intrepid Darcy, investigator for the Elder help her boyfriend in discovering the murderer (and other village secrets) in this fast paced mystery. Seriously, the pacing was faster in this book than in any of the previous - I could not put it down because I knew I would forget important clues.

The organizer (and creator) of the event, Ivy Teasdale has hired Darcy Merriweather (through her business As You Wish) to keep an eye on the event. The last couple of years there have been some incidents and Ivy does not want anything to happen this year. Darcy is to especially keep an eye on Natasha Norcliffe. Natasha with her cat, Titania likes to win. So that Darcy can snoop around, she has been entered into the competition with her dog, Missy in the Easy on the Eyes category. During Missy’s judging, Natasha collapses and dies (there goes her prime suspect). Ivy is not happy with Darcy’s work and fires her (do you think this will stop Darcy). Ivy ends up changing her mind and rehires Darcy to find out what happened to Natasha. Unfortunately, this leads Darcy to another victim. Chip Goldman, Natasha’s friend (and sometimes boyfriend) is dead in his apartment. Are the two murders connected? Then pets from the extravaganza start disappearing. Someone is stealing them (can you believe that someone tried to steal Archie). What is going on? Darcy is determined to get to the bottom of it. Darcy is also dealing with fixing up of her new building (for her to live in and for As You Wish), her relationship with Nick (if she is ready for more), and trying to figure out the identity of the Elder. Life is never dull in the Enchanted Village. Gone with the Witch was a delight! I have enjoyed reading this series since the very first book. It is like visiting old friends each time I read addition to this series. I like Heather Blake’s unique take on witchcraft. While Gone with the Witch can be read alone (the author does a great job of explaining things), you really should read the whole series (You can see Darcy’s journey from the very beginning). Gone with the Witch is well-written and easy to read. I was drawn right into the story from the very first page. The book contains interesting and quirky characters that you want to get to know (I wish they were real). The Enchanted Village is a unique town that everyone (at least me) would like to live in (or at least visit often). Gone with the Witch has two mysteries, great characters, great setting, romance, and humor. All these elements (plus more) make an enjoyable novel. I give Gone with the Witch 5 out of 5 stars (which you know is very rare for me). I am eagerly anticipating the next book in A Wishcraft Mystery series (which will be out in October). I received a complimentary copy of Gone with the Witch from the author through the Cozy Mystery Review Crew in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.

Darcy has her handful and wishes she could wish all the problems away but she is going to have to collar the killer by tracking them down herself. I love the characters, the setting and Ms. Blake always pens a fantastic mystery. The human residents of The Enchanted Village are wonderful but the “familiars” always put a smile on my face. Pepe and Mrs. P. are quite a pair and always available to help Darcy out. Archie has his own problems this time but still has time to throw a few movie quotes about. The village is not just enchanting, it is a busy place. There is always something going on. In addition to Darcy work she is having a house renovated and her romantic relationship with Nick is moving right along. Aunt Ve is always up to something. Darcy thinks she is meeting in secret with The Elder and wonders what they have brewing. Magic and mystery are blended together in such a great way. I was engaged from the first page until the last and sorry that the story had to end. Throughout the series a big secret has been kept from Darcy and her sister. We got close to a reveal in the last book but it comes to light completely in this story. Now we have to wait to see what happens next in The Witch and the Dead in October. I am wishing it wasn’t so far away!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Finally, the elder has been revealed! I had my suspicions since the beginning of the series, and in the previous two installments I was almost certain I was correct. There was that initial feeling of YES, I'm right!!!! when she was revealed...followed by the obvious let down of oh, I was right. While I'm happy with the direction of that story, part of me was hoping that it was all an elaborate ruse, and the identity of the elder would be completely different. As far as the mystery of the book, it definitely played second to the elder reveal. In general, I don't really care for mysteries where the focus is on pets/a pet shop/pet show, etc. I didn't really have suspicions on the culprit until the end, but also wasn't really focusing on the mystery. This is definitely one of my favorite cozy series and I'm excited to see how it progresses now that the elder has been revealed, and how Missy's choice will be dealt with in the next book.

Another charming visit to the Enchanted Village with the Merriweather sisters and their assortment of vibrant friends! This visit brings us to the annual pet show where the antics are in full force. A nice topsy turvy plot line intertwines multiple mysteries with multiple suspects to twist the story line and keep you guessing. I love that the cast of suspects fit either crime as it kept you guessing a bit longer on the "whodoneit" aspect of the book. While the author has woven multiple mysteries throughout the story, it added to the story without confusing the plot line. I'm thrilled the author selected me to read an advanced copy of this book and give an unbiased review as I've found a new cast of characters to enjoy reading. Now I just have to go back to the start of the series and enjoy the entire story line! If you like a good cozy mystery, then you are going to love this series especially if you like a little magic sprinkled in!

I have been a fan of the Witchcraft Mystery series since it's debut, and was very happy to receive a copy of the latest installment Gone With the Witch to review. This series has so many elements that make this series stand apart from others. The setting is a magical tourist town outside of Salem, Massachusettes where many of the inhabitants are Crafters of some sort or another. There are also delightful animal characters that can speak and add a lot of fun to the story. In Gone With the Witch, Darcy is hired to keep a watchful eye on the participants in the annual Positively Enchanted pet contest. When a body is found and pets start disappearing, Darcy is determined to get to the bottom of the trouble. Adding to the excitement, Darcy's year of living in the village is almost up and she is to learn the identity of the Elder. Heather Blake has written another enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next book in this series. (less)

In this sixth episode of the Wishcraft mysteries, Wishcrafter Darcy faces murder and pet kidnappings. She also draws closer to Nick, and finally learns the identity of the Elder. I have loved this book from page one of the first story, and I am even more in love with it after the last page of Gone With the Witch. Darcy is a wonderful heroine. I have guessed through each book on this little tidbit of information, and changed my mind with each book. Ms. Blake kept me guessing through out this book, and I was surprised at the final reveal! I can't wait to see what Darcy, Nick, Mimi and their pals get up to in the next installment of the Wishcraft series.

I have to write this review now, while I'm still feeling all the emotions from the story. This is, in my opinion, the best book in the series so far. It finally answered the question of the Elder's identity (which I figured out a couple of books ago and have just been waiting to have confirmed). The scene where the Elder is reunited with family is my favorite scene in the entire book!! Aside from that story detail being wrapped up at last, this book also tells an interesting mystery story. There is murder, attempted murder, petnapping, and lots of intrigue in the Enchanted Village. I had a feeling I knew who committed the murder, but I had absolutely no clue about the petnapper. Once again, I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
