These recipes included bad and outdated advise. In one case a pot of beans called for two cans of tomatoes with the other ingredients, anyone familiar with cooking beans knows not to add acidic ingredients to uncooked beans. Not being a chef, I second-guessed myself and tried it. That meant an extra 4 hours until those beans were tender.

This book differs from most slow cooker books in that it focuses on Mexican food. I found a few recipes to try.

Eh. Got one potential recipe. I’ve had wonderful Mayan pork pibil in Mexico and we’ll see how the slow-cooker version translates. Hopefully Anja hasn’t tossed my achiote. 2/5

Great Mexican Cookery Book I first read this book on my Kindie but I had to buy a hard copy as I know I will use it lots. Lots of simple slow cooked recipes for classic Mexican dishes. Some of the ingredients may be a little hard to source, but the book suggests lots of easy to find alternatives which is useful. I recommend making the Red Salsa and Salsa Chicken. Both are very easy, tasty and were enjoyed by my whole family.

Living the last 30 years in the Southwest, I was disappointed with the book. I doubt I will try many of these recipes.
