Absolutely loved this set! The first book in the series was so entertaining that I went straight for full set. Now I'm sitting with an ice pack on my eyes as I couldn't put it down. By the end, though you felt like you intimately knew all the crazy Axelrod family and friends you still couldn't predict the next wild adventure on the following page. And the adventures never stopped! Heartthrobs, hijinks, highly entertaining - just read it! Absolutely loved this set! WTF Then explains it as a matter between two consenting adults AFTER blubbering on about her childhood and how she came to own the store. IT WAS HORRIBLE. To add insult to injury, the writing was juvenile and the construction shoddy. Following the writer's train of thought from grandmother to pretend-rape to grandmother to boyfriend was just disturbing. I certainly could not follow the progression. It was like overhearing some trashy woman ramble about her life. Needless to say, I abandoned this one. There are so many good books out there. This is not even close to being one of them. You might enjoy it if you are a woman who fantasizes about rape and a surprise encounter with 50 Shades of Gray.. but for those readers who do not fit that description, read something else.

The first book was interesting and it made me want to go on to the next one. Unfortunately, that's when I lost the momentum for reading this series culminating in me not even starting the fifth one. It took me two weeks to get through 4 books when I can read one book of this size in a day, two if I push aside everything else. I just couldn't stick to reading this book but allowed myself to get distracted by other books. Another thing was that the first book was quite nicely edited. I just couldn't stick to reading this book but allowed myself to get distracted by other books. Another thing was that the first book was quite nicely edited. At least, there were no major typos but in the subsequent books, details on characters kept changing between books, there were misspellings of even the characters' names etc. which I could and did use as an excuse to put down the book and read something else. Lastly, in the table of contents, the fifth book was even named. The title came as a surprise to me when I reached it because all along I thought it was called "The Adventures of Anabel Axelrod". Way more sex and language than I appreciate but the characters were compelling enough for me to continue. However since this was the first five books in one I cannot really separate them out to critique. I’m just amazed at the constant threat of death in so many various forms and then the hero saving the day or fair maiden as it were.

The series definitely got better as it went along. I didn't know if I'd want to finish the series out, but I do now. The series definitely got better as it went along. I didn't know if I'd want to finish the series out, but I do now.

It was one step forward and twenty steps back to get through this story. For the most part we're trapped in Anabel's internal monologue that goes off on irrelevant tangets for far too long and we're not actually seeing what was happening at that moment. For example, she receives a text message and we're told what the one word message is. Then we need to make it through five pages or so of how Anabel knew this p Holy shiitake! What a mess. For example, she receives a text message and we're told what the one word message is. Then we need to make it through five pages or so of how Anabel knew this person before we see Anabel reply. It happened constantly. I started skimming through all the musings and flashbacks to try get to a bit where something was happening in the present. When you're skipping over ten pages or so to find something of interest you know there's a problem. I need to mention the start of the story. For some reason the author jumped right in with a scene that appeared to be Anabel about to be raped by an intruder. In the scene Anabel is sleeping and hears a creak in the stairs and thinks someone has broken into her apartment. She looks for her gun but ends up with a baseball bat. Her thoughts make it clear the author wanted us to believe she was about to be raped and is fighting for her life. She cops the 'attacker's' teeth in her head when she tries to headbutt him so there's some level of violence. I had a feeling something wasn't right but figured it would be a dream or a case of mistaken identity. But nope we learn it was the acting out of a consensual sexual fantasy between Anabel and the guy she's seeing, Luke. We learn about the agreement to act it out through a flashback of course. That sort of sexual fantasy can be tolerable (even if I don't understand the appeal) within a story when you know it's coming but I thought it was ridiculous (and dare I say irresponsible?) to start with one for what I can only assume was shock value. Especially when the readers are out of the loop initially. The writing style made it hard for me to connect to the characters and plot. Anabel wasn't particularly likeable and was prone to thinking about how she's not like other women. Lots of 'most women' this and that. Luke was playing the role of mysterious hot dude who arches his brow and grins sexily. Anabel had many names for Luke including Mr. Tricky, war-god, Dark Prince, Dark Knight, Mr. Secretive etc. Exhausting. When things were happening I was somewhat interested. Some of the supporting characters were engaging. The family dynamics were decent. But overall the writing style wasn't for me and I didn't particularly care for the main characters. I also suspect it was meant to be funny but it wasn't my type of humour. The plot was a little too nuts for me.

I would give this book 5 stars in the romance area. I found Anabel's and Luke's relationship and mind games fascinating. It was a great mental exercise to follow along as they manipulated each other, yet their relationship was great and they fit well together. It doesn't seem that a reader would like mind games in a relationship, but the author wrote it well and I loved it, even though I wouldn't want it for myself. Very snarky, sexy and fun. Anabel was a very compelling character and most of the other characters were also very interesting and believable. What I didn't care for: 1. obvious plot fake outs where the author makes you believe something crazy is happening and then it turns out to not be so crazy. There seemed to be one in every book. 2. the pages and pages of background on every little thing! Every time a new character was introduced, there were pages of how they knew each other from childhood, how they spoke 4 years ago, how their mother knew her mother, etc. I feel the books would have flowed much better if the pages of details were reduced to 1 to 2 paragraphs. 3. the cover art doesn't fit the story. To me, the book cover art shows a ditzy, appearance fixated woman. Anabel is actually very intelligent and strong. I think some people may not consider reading the book because of the cover. I would like to rate this higher because I was eager to begin reading every night and loved Anabel and Luke. But I skipped over probably 1/5 of the story because all the nonessential details drove me crazy. So I will settle on 3 stars even though I would read other books by this author.

Man is this a ride you will all love to go on. It is a little outside of my normal box of reading Paranormal romance, but I tell you what..I LOVED IT. Kept me on my toes, laughed until I cried, cried until I laughed and yelled when I needed to. Anabel is one feisty little number and Luke is one Alpha male that has a lot of stories he hides behind his eyes. This is a 6 book set, you can get individually, however cheaper to buy the entire set. I won't steer you wrong on this set. I look forward to Man is this a ride you will all love to go on. I bought this ebook collection after reading the first of the series on Wattpad and just got absolutely hooked. Definitely worth the $9.99 I paid. You can't really just read one volume! Buying the full set is really the way to go- it's really one big story more than anything else. And a good one, at that! Absolutely the best series I have ever read! Other than books by Nicholas Sparks these books by Tracy are the only ones I have bought without reading the summary or anything else and I've never been disappointed. I can honestly say every book in this series deserves the 5 stars I gave them! This is the perfect gift! Absolutely the best series I have ever read! Too much inner dialogue I've tried to read three of these books. The pages and pages of inner dialogue are exhausting and I have no idea who anyone is. Zero character development or even a plot.
