Whilst I wouldn't say I was a disaster in the kitchen, I would say that I am boring. I end up cooking the same handful of dishes week in and week out, with the odd frozen pizza thrown in. At 35 years old, it had finally become time to take control of my diet once and for all, and cook up some tasty food that also gave me the nutrients that my body is crying out for. I've never really known what to do with fruits and vegetables before, apart from soups or simple desserts, but the 'Bounty Farm CSA Whilst I wouldn't say I was a disaster in the kitchen, I would say that I am boring. I've never really known what to do with fruits and vegetables before, apart from soups or simple desserts, but the 'Bounty Farm CSA Farm Cookbook' has really broadened my horizons, with so many recipes for a huge variety of natural ingredients. Furthermore, there is useful information on how to store your fruits and vegetables so you get better longevity out of them, which will hopefully help me to cut down on the wastage of fresh ingredients. After owning this book for a few weeks, I'm actually tempted to grow some of my own ingredients in my garden, starting with chilli and herbs and going from there.

With a few personal stories sprinkled throughout the book, you get a feel for the enthusiasm of growing vegetables and growing them in a healthy manner. With an emphasis on healthy eating, this book is categorized by season which makes total sense, because those are the fruits and veggies it is best to buy, those that are in season. Not only will you learn how to cook a recipe properly, you will learn the background of the ingredients and what it took to grow them. With over 700 pages here there is much to dig into, the whole book is engaging and full of great ideas and a supportive farming community. Highly recommend.

It's a great book, full of good information--especially for people not used to cooking with fresh produce. Much of the information is available on the Internet but it's nice to have it all pulled together in one source. I would give it five stars except it is so full of information that it it unwieldy to use. It's heavy and hard to get it to lay flat. I had a copy from my public library so I didn't want to break the spine. Maybe it would be more useful if broken into two volumes or perhaps spiral It's a great book, full of good information--especially for people not used to cooking with fresh produce. This is a pretty massive book, and is a very well put-together reference book, intended to help everyone from novice to master learn about fruit and veggies. There are recipes in this book (quite a few of them, actually), but this is definitely more reference material than cook book material. Get it for the recipes and be glad you did, because the rest is just as useful! There's a ton of information on the crops it uses, along with some pretty handy tips.
