I have really tried to stay with this series, but I find Jill so annoying. She creates so many problems for herself because she has no backbone and agrees to do the most stupid things rather than just saying no. I realise the author uses this to develop different plot-lines but they are so ridiculous that at times they are embarrassing to read. Then there is the supporting cast of Winky, Amber, Pearl, Kathy and Grandma. A person can only stand so much of their unbelievable behaviour. I kept reading the series because I wanted to see how she would develop as a witch and what would happen with her ongoing battle with the Dark One. I have tried skip reading to miss out some of the drivel, but as this is now most of the book, there doesn’t seem much point. I nearly gave this just 1 star, but yet again, I did finish the book and for some weird reason I still want to find out what happens to Jill.

Very fun 7th volume! Yet again an excellent mystery resolved by our fav witch P.I. I just wished the plot that seem to be going on in the witch world would develop more. No luck in this volume except for the very last "incident" in the sups prison. That was intriguing though :-) On to volume 8! Very fun 7th volume! Full of mystery and sarcasm I love Ms. Abbott's series, they are funny, witty and always have a good mystery. This case was a missing antique, running a political campaign and finding a missing girl. The only thing I would like is to see a romance finally to somewhere, it seems to have an immature feel to it right now. This was another excellent read! This series keeps me on my toes in that one never knows what Grandma will do next. Jill is a good PI, she just keeps working at it until she gets it solved. And Winky and his drama keeps me in stitches. Thank goodness none of MY cats take after him!

This series is what I call 'brain candy'. The titles are all very easy reads, with no thinking required. I agree with the woman who read it with her young son; it is ideal for this. I enjoy fantasy fiction about witches and the like, and that is what this is. Each book is very short, with dual plots about the main character adjusting to being a witch, and solving crimes as a private investigator. Several characters appear in all the books, and various challenges appear as each plot develops. The This series is what I call 'brain candy'. There is humor, but not terribly sophisticated. There is danger, but all resolve quickly with only minor disasters. If you want a very fast read with a slightly whimsical touch these are for you. It certainly isn't Ann Rice; or even close to Harry Potter. I may-or may not- make it through the whole series.

Another fun read in this addictive series. Jill is much more confident in her spells so much so, that helps a young witch adjust to her new life among humans. Jill still juggles a lot between the demands of her life in Washburn and as a Sup in Candlefield. Her sister is manipulative and selfish as ever, with bratty children. Good not as good as the others I like this series. It’s light and fun. However, this was my least favorite of the series so far. It’s pretty disjointed, there isn’t one central thing going on. Just lots of mini story lines. The previous books had more of a main story line to them. Also there are a couple things in this one that make the main character harder to like, but luckily those seem to be blips. I’m going to give the next book a shot and see if it’s more like the earlier ones.

These are getting better by the minute! Another delightful romp between Washbridge and Candlefield. Jill has a lot on her plate in this one, what with a missing antique, Winky being his usual self and Grandma wanting to get into politics! Along the way Jill is dodging all.sorts of crisis! The humour in this is brilliant and all characters are growing on you! It's the cliff hanger at the end of each one is frustrating, as am going to want to read the next one! Love them. Easy to read again, and enjoyable although her sister and her grandmother are getting more and more annoying and the ridiculous bumbling parts well, they are ridiculous, the mystery aspects are fun, and the overarching big thread is moving at snails pace but it is moving. Looking forward to the next one if I can get my Kindle reader to actually connect to my internet, which apparently is hard to do, because I guess it is an Amazon product.

These books are so great. They have parallel stories running between the two worlds, which keeps the interest. Barry and Grandma are my favourite characters. In this book Barry is lonely and Grandma seeks more power. With no spoilers, Barry needs more help in the next book and Grandma is going to rule the world one day I feel. About time Jill got a man. Too much will they, won't they. These books are so great. They have parallel stories running between the two worlds, which keeps the interest. Barry and Grandma are my favourite characters. Fun, interesting series. Enjoying them and the delusional lead character. All sorts of quirky characters, but sometimes they can be irritating. It would be great to see the main character finally get a sustaining relationship with a guy. Also, her sister, from her adopted family sure is mean to her. Soften her up a bit.

I started this series as an easy read when I have a lot going on. Its a simple cozy mystery series with characters I have come to love. Each book has a mystery that gets solved by the end as well as a deeper mystery that evolves with each book. I can't ever predict the endings which makes me enjoy the books even more.
