A fast, fun, and spooky thriller for kids about a twelve-year-old girl (Carly Beth) who hid away an ugly green mask in her basement. A while ago she bought it, put it on, and she couldn’t take it off. It made her do evil things. Now, with Halloween on the way, the mask seems to be calling to her… There is also a short, continuing, secondary story included in this book titled “Enter Horrorland” which was enjoyable and takes place in an amusement park.

I read this book many moons ago; as well as many other of Stine’s works! But what kid growing up in the 90’s didn’t read his work, right?😘❤️ A GR friend was reading this and it prompted my memory of this read!❤️❤️

This review is for the audiobook version. This may be my favorite Goosebumps HorrorLand book yet! It was one of the darker ones with genuine chills. It was smart to followup the more comical Monster Blood book with something like this, in which there is a haunted ghost stable, a diabolical mask, and an evil vs. evil showdown at the climax! The HorrorLand story following the main story was pretty good, too. I really liked the scene at the mask gift shop.

“The Haunted Mask was ready to take over my mind again and force me to do its evil.” The Haunted Mask was one of my favorites as a kid. The Scream of the Haunted Mask is new adventure with Carly Beth and the mask. The second half of the book sees Carly Beth and her friend Sabrina going to Horrorland. Dun dun dun. Creepy and fun for Goosebumps fan. (Part of middlegrade summer)

I'm so glad I was able to fit in this book with my October reads. I was so in love with Goosebumps as a kid, being able to go back and read about characters you know feels special honestly. This book revisits Carly Beth, that most of course knows from The Haunted Mask. I found it to be an adorable and cute story. It's a quick read, and for me, it was an absolutely wonderful trip down memory lane! I'm so glad I was able to fit in this book with my October reads. R.L Stines book: The haunted mask. A thrilling horror story about a young girl (Carly Beth) who mysteriously finds a horrible looking mask in her basement. This book fits perfectly in to the ''your own choice'' category which is placed on the bingo board. my favorite character in this horror book is obviously Carly Beth, for she is brave and will do whatever it takes to bring things to peace. She is a courageous young girl and has the heart of a lion. My favorite part is the end of the book when Carly Beth finally defeats the mask, Settling its past to rest, releasing all despair and sorrow from its messed up mind. I learnt from this book that standing up to your fears will make you a stronger and better person, on the inside and outside. This is a great book and i recommend it to horror lovers and thrill seekers. Read it. ¬takeiteas¬

I have read The Haunted mask 1 as well as the The Haunted mask 2 and I enjoyed both of these. Although this book can be read as a stand-alone but I would highly recommend reading the first books in the haunted mask titles to get a better chance of understanding the characters. The first book introduced us to the evil mask and to the famous characters of Carly Beth and sabrina who are by the way best friends goals. Although we a little of these two in second book it was still quite entertaining. T I have read The Haunted mask 1 as well as the The Haunted mask 2 and I enjoyed both of these. I love the way the author bought back the old similar characters with a bang and it was eery atmosphere. It genuinely gave a creepy and spooky feeling. This was definitely one of my favorite top 3 Goosebumps books, hands down. I'll be surely reading this again in the Halloween because a) it's Halloween themed b)it will be fun and scary at the same time and c) it's goosebumps..... Halloween cannot be complete without it

Ah come on, I am literally addicted to this series. I wonder how the writer has managed to write this good and how he got the ideas of advertising his other books by mentioning that which book has similar ghosts or which book has the map that connects with present or previous book. Totally cool! Note: Yes, he is a good writer. But I don't support his ideologies of how the teenagers should pass the time in this age. Ah come on, I am literally addicted to this series. This one is a pretty scary Horrorland book! It's about a mask (returning for the second time in Goosebumps) to frighten Carly Beth. It calls to her, and though she tries NOT to slide the mask over her face, it (of course) happens anyway... and it sucks her in to its evil ways. Complete with scary legends that may be true. And a bonus Horrorland adventure in the back of the book. This one is a pretty scary Horrorland book! It's about a mask (returning for the second time in Goosebumps) to frighten Carly Beth. I mean it’s a kids book, but I needed something silly before starting something intense. If I was the intended age group it would have been a great gateway into what I like now. In fact Goosebumps always was that for me.

This was a sequel, and although I have never read The Haunted Mask, I was able to follow The Scream of the Haunted Mask just fine. It was rather creepy (but not quite Fear Street-level), and the soundtrack and sound effects in the audio book added immensely to that vibe. The second part - the Horrorland story - was a little harder to follow as I have not read the second and third books in the Horrorland series and the stories are continuous.

Summary: As Hallowren approaches 1 year after Mary Beth's first scary ordeal, the haunted mask begins to call to her once again. Things only get worse when she learns the mask is responsible for the death of multiple horses at an abandoned stable at the farm she works at. To top things off, a vengeful ghost is desperate to get the mask back. Personal opinion: Like Slappy, I was happy to see the haunted mask make a comeback with a cool new backstory. This is the best HorrorLand book I've read thus far. As a sequel, it's remarkably accurate and true to the original book. As a story, it's, well, good. The end is abrupt, a common problem with this series, but there are numerous Chekhov's Guns scattered throughout the story, along with one red herring, and the events build to a satisfactory, and creepy, climax. Deserves praise. This is the best HorrorLand book I've read thus far. As a sequel, it's remarkably accurate and true to the original book. As a story, it's, well, good. This was the refresh I needed in this series ; a lot like Bride Of Chucky being the refresh in that series. Like the last two Horrorlands were good but when you compare them to Revenge Of The Living Dummy they don't hold up but this surpasses that for me. I love a good origin story and this is a FANTASTIC one! It kinda does act like Haunted Mask 2 didn't happen like I'm not gonna say there's no flaws. I liked Haunted Mask 2&while this benefits from acting like that one didn't happen(considering that one didn't sell well it basically didn't exist anyway)but they mature Carly&Sabrina so much with the job&the classmate that has a nose ring with lipstick&dyed hair but they also don't mature her because she STILL doesn't know the difference between a jerk&a wimp!! Its not that hard to know!! So I will state that flaw of not knowing how old they are as well as we don't know for sure if the mask store is magic. It closed in the first book&was still closed in the 2nd(if you wanna count that one)but in this one it's back again&the girl says the mask was made by the stable boy but then when the actual ghost is revealed they say they bought it from a store so I start thinking "did the store owner actually make it like he claimed? How is related to the ghost? How old is he actually? Is he like time traveling?" It doesnt make tons of sense but as I continually point out ; Stine's intended audience isnt 26 year old me....its 11 year old me(I was 11 in 2008..I think I was 11&I would've been too scared from my 2nd grade trauma of the movie)so 11 year olds don't care about these things. #horrorland #goosebumps #goosebumpsreview #thehauntedmask #thehauntedmask2 #thescreamofthehauntedmask

The Haunted Mask is one of the best and most iconic storylines from the original Goosebumps series. The Haunted Mask II may actually be better than the first. On the farm, there is a haunted stable, where according to legend, a stable boy puts on a haunted mask which scares the horses and causes them, along with the stable boy. Was the mask the very same one Carly Beth bought? And that's basically the entire story build up. Nothing much happens, the story is incredibly shallow. Like the other stories in this series, there is a little bit of history added. But unlike in the living dummy and monster blood stories, the history is not interesting at all. In fact, it somewhat contradicts what we already know about the mask. The scares simply aren't there and there is a total lack of twists that have come to define Goosebumps books. Even the ending lacks a twist. The story concludes and there is a single paragraph that blandly sets up the continuation of the story. Overall, this is arguably the most disappointing Goosebumps book I've ever read. Monster Blood for Breakfast was just okay but at least that was expected since I never really liked the Monster Blood story. But Haunted Mask is supposed to be great and this version wasn't even as good as Monster Blood. 1. Revenge of the Living Dummy 2. Creep from the Deep 3. Monster Blood for Breakfast 4. Somehow I got roped into reading some of the books of this series because my 9 year old son has spent his year of Covid quarantining binge reading this series. I thought this book was a little bit scarier than the other two Haunted Mask books that my son got me to read. However, I'm reading these books through the lens of an adult rather than a child, so I'm not sure what the scare factor level would be with a child reading the book. This book actually has two stories in it. The first story is a stand alone book about Carly Beth and Sabrina working at a daycare that has a supposedly "haunted" barn out back and an ugly green mask that continues to call out to her. The second story appears to be apart of an on-going story line about kids that have been invited to HorrorLand - a scary theme park where the scares might actually be real. Carly Beth and Sabrina are in this story too, but they meet other kids who you can tell have been introduced in earlier books of the series. My interest has been peeked enough to start back at book #1 of the series, so I can get caught up with what was going on in Horrorland prior to me joining the series in Book #4. I'm sure my son will be delighted that he has gotten his mom hooked into buying him even more Goosebumps books to feed his horror story reading addiction.

Another Goosebumps Horrorland story that I wasn't at all impressed with... It felt like a continuation from a previous story (so I'm guessing the original story about the Haunted Mask can be found in either the normal Goosebumps series or the Goosebumps 2000 series, either way, I haven't come across it yet or even read it) so I was a little unsure what was going on at times, especially when they referenced to the previous book about the Haunted Mask. The Werewolf Village had so much room to grow, whilst the mask store could've been scarier.

Goosebumps were classics for me growing up and continue to be a landmark of middle-grade horror fiction in their new "Horrorland" series. For me, this book is a seasonal recommendation. When I started this movie I didn't have any ideas I was going to get a short story. The book is 139 pages, but only about 80 pages are of one story and it skips to another story and stops short. Nice to visit Carly Beth and the Haunted Mask again, but unfortunately this installment was pretty underwhelming.
