This graphic novel adaptation of the Victorian classic by Lewis Carroll does a good job of getting in the iconic scenes in a short paperback volume. There are also “Common Core Aligned” homeschooling questions included at the back. I’m curious to check out more of these graphic novel adaptations of classics from Stone Arch Books.

I could get this graphic novel cheaply at a local bookstore and wanted to have it for my Alice in Wonderland collection. I was a little disappointed that the graphic novel was only 70 pages though, because I think the story of Alice is kinda rich and is made to be turned into a detailed graphic novel. The shortness of this graphic novel also means that most of the brilliance of Caroll gets lost. There is hardly any poetry left and a lot of situations are only there for a few pages. The shortness of this graphic novel also means that most of the brilliance of Caroll gets lost. There is hardly any poetry left and a lot of situations are only there for a few pages. However, the illustrations were pretty and quite colorful. I was especially quite happy with how the King and Queen turned out, because they were less of a caricature as they usually are. And, honestly, the original tale is not the easiest tale because of its rhyme and complicated conversations. This book is therefore perfect for non-readers or very young readers to get an idea of what the famous Wonderland story is about. I hope once they get a taste, they will want more!

The tale of nonsense has been adapted for younger readers in a graphic novel format. Some parts wouldn’t make sense for readers unfamiliar with the original, full tale.

I mean, it was okay. The writing style was a bit odd to me, though.

I have read multiple version's of Wonderland. This is well done and pulls the main ideas. It lacks some of the absurdities and oddness that I love from original which makes it read more "normal" instead of odd, whimisical a smidgen frightening in places and thus making thebpace flat compared to original.
