I'm reading this book because Rory Sutherland (from Ogilvy in the UK) has blurbed it, and I respect Rory's recommendations on books. It was good because it recognizes businesses are interdependent, like a human body. His grid lays out 9 areas. If you affect one, you affect others, and you have to take this into account when making decisions. The author claims not much is written on this, and he's probably right, though Peter Drucker did talk about it, so does Gary Hamel, Stephen Covey, among oth I'm reading this book because Rory Sutherland (from Ogilvy in the UK) has blurbed it, and I respect Rory's recommendations on books. There's some excellent points in the book, though none of the topics are covered in depth (pricing, for example), but he does include a useful suggested reading list for those who want to dive deeper into a particular area. A worthwhile read.

This is one gem of a business book. It provides the reader with a mental scaffolding to relate together all the complexities of running an enterprise, big or small, into clear decision points for tradeoffs through the enunciation of a holistic strategy. This i find to be its greatest value, to be able to explain and analyze a strategy, make comparisons, and move towards a decision. Best of all, it provides a trove of recommended books and articles to read and reference. For all entrepreneurs, th This is one gem of a business book. Really interesting book The overall hypothesis of the book is spectacular - synthesis of different parts and elements of the organisation together. While some of the aspects are well known (and not fleshed out well - revenue models/ costs), the others are excellent (but still not fleshed out - Immitability), there are enough that are done really well & interesting too. Pick up the book just for that. For me, the chapters covering org cycles and power were spectacular.

If business sense can be acquired, this is the textbook for it. And Business students usually hate textbooks.

I love this book because of it's simplicity, well-created and explained topics. Furthermore, having a lot of case examples it's even a better way to understand it.

The success of every business depends on the strategies a company consider from multiple points of views. The customer’s perspective, for example, you should therefore consider their needs and desires and the cost of your product. But when it comes to development, you will need to consider how imitable your products are and what your rivals are offering. Things like reviewing a product’s proposal could potentially help improve profits, which reduces the heavy price tag and reap greater benefits.

Super helpful book. Great way to monitor our company just by using the tools given. Tools also very well positioned makes it even easier to use. Furthermore, The simplicity combine with the clear explaination makes it easy to read and understand. It also provide a lot of study case from big company. Very practical yet not too basic. I was doubting this book before purcasing it coz it has only 3 review on. But glad i bought it

The Grid is an instant classic for any business or marketing manager eager to learn. Despite not deep diving in any subject it actually delivers really precious insights within a very strong framework that can be applied in any company or industry. Really well structured strongly documented for further study with nice references. i will certainly come back to the grid to follow up and re-read in the future. Highly recommended.

Great premise that there is something about the whole, but the book then proceeds to do exactly what it suggests you shouldn’t - deep dive into the details and hope they add up to the whole. It has great reflections, but turns out to be more of a checklist against a series of themes than a joining up

For me, this is smart writing with deep research and a clear approach, easy to understand. Looking at business as a whole to find the solution as well as balancing the things is not easy, but once we look at the system instead of a single department would fairly help the biz manager to make a better decision.

Definitely a source of good insights for who is interested to run a business. I found the book interesting as a not sales/business oriented person. It doesn't matter how big is your business because these rules and the knowledge provided applies to the majority of businesse.
