*ARC received from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review* About the author himself, his story is both encouraging and inspiring. About the cookbook itself, there are quite a few recipes I am definitely planning on making. I thought it was really cute that he put fun facts in before each recipe. Good read and good recipes.

This particular book holds a special place in my heart. I was given the chance to review this amazing new cookbook by NetGalley and I couldn't be happier. I first was lured in by the cover. Superficial of me...maybe but I like what I like. Just look at how bright and colorful the cover is. I took one look at that smiling teen cook and all that glorious food and I was intrigued. I then read the book blurb and I was curious. Then I read the author bio and was completely and utterly inspired. This y This particular book holds a special place in my heart. Just look at how bright and colorful the cover is. I took one look at that smiling teen cook and all that glorious food and I was intrigued. I then read the book blurb and I was curious. Then I read the author bio and was completely and utterly inspired. This young man is simply fantastic. He has overcome so much in his young life and taken the opportunity to reach out and help others. I have been following Chase on YouTube and watching his videos and to see him in action is wildly entertaining in the best possible way. I love the way he interacts with the viewers and the guests. His personality really shines throughout this cookbook just as well. This is a cookbook that will be used over and over again. The pages are bright and colorful. He has found a way to include "Fun Facts" that help link the recipe to culture and history. I learned quite a few facts while reading it. The photos are gorgeous and the recipes are easy to follow even for the younger chefs in your house. I mean with recipes like Barnyard Breakfast Muffins, Pigs in a Waffle, Stuffed Hash Potato, and Hearty Chicken and Lemon Verbena Soup...how could you not want to try the dishes?

Chase in your face. A different kind of cookbook for a young person interested in trying new things fro a very interesting young man who has had few challenges along the way. The recipes seem easy enough, that anybody can do them and the tips, stories and history lessons are interesting to say the least. So if you ever get a chance, check it out and stop by his website. You just might be intrigued enough to try out a recipe or two.

This is a such a great and inspiring cookbook and story. The recipes are easy to follow, family friendly, and quite delicious! What's awesome is Chase includes fun facts and alternatives to make the recipes gluten free. (For vegans, you can also make some simple adjustments... but by no means is this a vegan cookbook, nor is it meant to be. There were some recipes I could adjusts and they worked just fine!) This cookbook written by Chase Bailey is full of original recipes that skillfully incorporate vegetables and unexpected spices to get kids to try new things, are fun to read and educational with their "Fun Facts." Recipes include tips to make them gluten-free. It is divided into breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, desserts and drinks, but the chapter titles are far more interesting. For example, the lunch chapter is called: "Feed the Beast." Recipes include tips to make them gluten-free. It is divided into breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, desserts and drinks, but the chapter titles are far more interesting. For example, the lunch chapter is called: "Feed the Beast." The author notes that lunch is his big meal as it is for Europeans. The recipes that especially caught my eye included: "Slice of Eggcellence" a breakfast deep-dish pizza containing eggs, pears mozzarella cheese and capers; "Spicy, Savory Grilled Breakfast" a grilled cheese sandwich with hash browns and bacon; "Hearty Chicken and Lemon Verbena Soup" a thick soup containing artichoke hearts and wild rice made in a slow cooker; "Vegan Black Bean Chili and Spicy Cheesy Cornbread" another slow cooker recipe that includes tofu; "Nacho Mi Taco" which includes a great recipe for slow cooked shredded beef. While this is an excellent work, I have some gripes: 1. Some recipes like "Slice of Eggcellence" have no photos while others have 3, some superfluous. If the publisher had to limit photos, it should have dropped pictures of raw ingredients. Each recipe should have a picture of the finished dish. 2. Some recipes call for ingredients not commonly available everywhere. For example, "Slice of Eggcellence" uses Shepherds Bread, readily available in San Francisco. But, I had to look up a recipe on the Internet. The author should have included a preferred recipe for it. 3. Throughout the book, the author stresses fresh, healthy ingredients like wild salmon instead of farm-raised. He even makes his own tartar sauce. But then he compromises in the baking recipes, using mixes. Because of this, I reduced my rating from a 5 to a 4. By the way, the author is an autistic, teenaged boy with an insightful mother who refused to accept that her son could not be anything any other boy could be. She home-schooled him, designing a curriculum tailored to how he learned best and reinforced it with trips to pertinent places. She encouraged him to have a YouTube show and the rest is history. I reviewed this book as I would any, based solely on its merits which is why I did not mention Mr. Chase's autism or age until now.

In addition to making people aware of autism, this is a pretty good cookbook. The recipes are easy and look delicious. Chase is an autistic boy who, with the help of his mother, found a way of being creative - particularly with food and cooking. His story is heartwarming and his recipes are simple and delicious. I received this book on NetGalley and I decided to post a review.
