I was given this cookbook as a Christmas present from my Granny. I love it! I would suggest everyone have one of these on hands, even if you don't love to cook. It is great for beginners, like myself. I was given this cookbook as a Christmas present from my Granny. I love it! 4.5 stars The sheer range and comprehensiveness of the cookbook makes it a useful resource to have around. General tips and tricks for baking and canning; everything from shellfish to pasta to desserts. Pulled Pork to Pot Pie to Sugar Cookies and everything between. As a general cookbook, hard to find a better one, especially for beginner cooks or people branching out but who don't want to be overwhelmed by twenty-five steps of prep work for a dinner or be sent out for unique ingredients every fiv 4.5 stars The sheer range and comprehensiveness of the cookbook makes it a useful resource to have around. 4 stars for content. The recipes in this book are excellent, there is something here for everyone - that said, the physical book leaves something to be desired. The spiral binding and thin pages often tear if you are not careful (and sometimes even when you are), the print is lighter than my older copy and the typeface is smaller and thinner. Several pages in succession are not numbered, making recipes harder to find. There's a few pages with text-on-photographs which are very hard to read. This 4 stars for content. This would not make a good gift for an older person or anyone with poor eyesight. Had I known of these issues I would have ordered a different book. If the contents of the book had been less quality I would have asked for my money back. I will probably not be buying another Betty Crocker cookbook sight unseen again. My edition is copyrighted 2016 and published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

This is a complete cookbook with the best possible format. It has everything - basic techniques, introductions to ingredients, etc. There are photos of most recipes, nutritional information and cook times for each one. I especially like that there are so many lower calorie options and that it takes a whole foods approach with minimal processed ingredients. So far I've tried the Orange-Coconut Pound Cake and the Peanut Noodle Bowls. Both were delicious and simple to prepare. My family loved them. It certainly isn’t what I would call trendy as to special diets or nutrient dense meals but it’s reliable enough to give you a good foundation on any recipe you want to take a stab at and make substitutions as needed to suit your diet. It does offer some gluten free and vegetarian recipes though and mentions dairy substitutes as well.

This book is my childhood. Every comfort holiday recipe comes from here. It’s also the best beginner cookbook I have ever seen, full of notes and foolproof directions, from how to purchase to making intricate recipes.

Always an excellent book. This is the newest edition of one of my favorite classic cookbooks. Many recipes are different from my 1970's edition that was a wedding gift. I enjoy the changes in the classic foods. Always an excellent book. This is the newest edition of one of my favorite classic cookbooks. Recipes are good, but t]he extremely light typeface makes it very hard to read.
