Excellent Chinese Food Since my marriage into a Chinese family I've been fascinated by real Chinese food, but since our move to a small town in the mountains we've had difficulty obtaining it. This cookbook makes it possible for me to make some of the foods we grew accustomed to eating living closer to extended family. My Review: I admit I purchased my first wok when I was 14 and have not looked back since. I loved the flavors and scents that filled the kitchen while preparing different Asian dishes. Growing up a military brat I learned to appreciate the cuisine of different cultures. Believe me with multiple food allergies that was not always easy, but in the end my mother and her friends found a way. Chinese has always been one of my favorites. With "Family Style Chinese Cookbook" you are given a glimpse into the lives of traditional Chinese lifestyles and cooking styles. With an emphasis on authentic recipes that have not been adjusted to be more appealing to the American pallet. Be sure to check out the Hot and Sour Soup recipe on page 73. I have never made it with tofu before, but it was not too bad. Page 95 has a great recipe for Sesame Chicken which can be paired with the Egg Fried Rice on Page 160. Be sure to double the dipping sauce found on pg 95. You will find new recipes to try and ideas to explore in family dinners. Take a leaf from the traditional Chinese family dinner, sit, eat slow, talk and enjoy. This is a great cookbook for either beginners to the experienced cook.
