Loved it! Have been a long time football fan and have resisted joining a fantasy league. However, I succumbed, with two weeks left in the preseason and had to get up to speed fast! I’m now feeling comfortable with the upcoming draft! May not win my league but this book has given me a great start! Still have lots to learn and will study all season! Have already ordered some more sophisticated FF books from Kindle! And have subscribed to several online sites to help gather additional information. S Loved it! The book I read to research this post was Fantasy Football For Dummies by Martin Signore which is an excellent book which I bought from kindle. The author of this book won the Hollywood Football League twice and does a good job of getting you interested in this kind of virtual sport and also tells you all the different leagues which are quite diverse in their rules of play and this book is particularly good for newbies. It helps to know the rules of American Football as that helps you understand The book I read to research this post was Fantasy Football For Dummies by Martin Signore which is an excellent book which I bought from kindle. The author of this book won the Hollywood Football League twice and does a good job of getting you interested in this kind of virtual sport and also tells you all the different leagues which are quite diverse in their rules of play and this book is particularly good for newbies. It helps to know the rules of American Football as that helps you understand how they score these games the biggest fantasy football provider is yahoo. To join yahoo's service go to their website and click on sports. They have a basic service which is free and a plus service you pay for. You can start your own league with either service for you and your friends or join their league or join a league set up by someone else on yahoo. The plus service offers quite good prize money. There is a couple of websites which are http://rotowire.com & http://rotoworld.com which are fantasy football advisory services and do have both free and paid options & do need to keep doing research especially into how players in the pro football league are doing in order to play the game. Yahoo also has experts who write about player stats etc which are worth checking out. When you player the game sometimes you are given a pot of virtual money and have to bid on players for your fantasy football league called an auction draft or you take it in turns with the one who went first in the previous round of choosing going last in the next round called a snake draft. Obviously in the auction draft some players go for ridiculous prices due to inexperienced players. Often you can sell or swap players with other virtual managers as the season progresses. Also each team gets a bye week where they don't play just like in the pro league. You will choose which players are playing each week and according to how well they play in actual football games you get points. Some leagues also let you choose an additional player each week and you get points for well they do to. There is a world championship played in Atlantic City & Las Vegas where there is huge prize money, a crystal trophy & a huge fake cheque that is presented by a celebrity. There are also fantasy leagues in other sports like soccer.
