This time Maisie is looking for some rest and inspiration for her mystery book writing, so she visits Holy King Church which was written up in a travel guide, and unbeknownst to Maisie is immersed in folklore. Once Maisie is at the church, she is horrified to discover a motionless woman who is dressed in a gown with flowers in her hair. Shortly after this shocking discovery, she finds a man in the hotel, where she works, in the same condition. These instances seem to be connected, but how? Soon, Maisie is told that there is a legend about a secret love affair between a pirate and the daughter of a prominent family. Rumors are flying faster than a rocket sled that the church is haunted, and the motionless couple Maisie found is cursed. Maisie begins to feel cursed herself. First, she thinks she starts seeing ghosts, and then she gets attacked by Sleeping Beauty’s disgruntled family member. Danger seems to haunt her in this compelling second book in the Oceanside Mystery series. I have fallen under Maisie Swenson’s spell. This crafty plot had me guessing until almost the end. I enjoy spending time with the engaging characters in this series.

Another Awesome Book in this Series! This is the second book in CeeCee James' Oceanside Hotel series. This is an awesome series! I read book 1 & book 2 in one day - I just couldn't put them down! I love Maisie's little quirks when she gets nervous: the paper clip straightening, the snapping of the rubber band, -they're all little things I do when I get anxious. Maisie's momma & dog Bingo brought a nice touch of humor & family to the story. Can't wait for book 3! Another Awesome Book in this Series! Fun cozy mystery I am enjoying these cozy series and looking forward to book 3. Main character Maisie is manager of a hotel, where she shares a suite with her mother and Bassett hound, writes mysteries for fun -- and gets tangled up in mysteries by accident and curiosity. Maisie is smart and kind, a very likable character. The mysteries are layered and interesting. The series should be worth your time for a fun, easy, yet involving read..

She does seem to be very good at putting together the clues. If you like cozy mysteries, this is a good one. I do feel like it had more errors than it should have if it were edited more closely.

Maisie, a mystery writer, calling the police, I’m surprised they believed her. A woman on a slab out in the river, behind the church. The place was a mixer of folklore, history, and people don’t go out there. She soaks up the atmosphere, and thoughts of what had been a meeting place for lovers, the scene with the woman, could have been a fairy tale. The police came, and seen nothing. Again she calls the police, one of the guest is barely breathing As if in a coma. Another good book, of how how s Maisie, a mystery writer, calling the police, I’m surprised they believed her. One sitting - done! I read this while waiting for my car to be repaired and was so engrossed had not noticed how long I was there, that's how much I enjoyed this book. Maisie, hotel manager, takes a day off to go exploring as research for a book she is writing and stumbles upon a woman that appears to be dead. This sets off a chain of events that kept me guessing. A great way to spending a couple of hours. One sitting - done! A pleasant read, nothing that is going to win any awards, but a nice book to sit back and leisurely relax with, which is just what I did. But then, CeeCee , I have found, always writes an enjoyable book. And, what makes it even better, I didn't find any grammatical errors in it. Refreshing.
