Big, adorable, and spoiled Fukumaru and his favorite purrson, Fuyiki Kanda, are back. Fukumaru reminds me of my cats when they are playing with the feathered stick, sleeping on top of me, licking with the raspy tongue, squeezing into open cabinets and boxes, and squirming out of hugs. Mr. Kanda becomes more cat obsessed as he goes straight home to tend to Fukumaru, fills his phone with pictures of Fukumaru, and being attracted to all cat theme items. The feeling is mutual. Fukumaru cannot believe his luck. Their happiness and love blooms. I reached out to hug my cats and although I got them purring, they both fled in protests. My “meowy heart goes all warm and fuzzy” with this new installment.

ᓚᘏᗢ "You had me at meow..." ᓚᘏᗢ Yes, you did. Volume 2 of this super cute series. Mr Kanda and Fukumaru are a match made in heaven. Becoming firm friends. "There's so much I want to tell you." We find out more about their backgrounds, and what has caused sadness in their lives. Which is now becoming happiness, as the sun breaks through the clouds. They now have each other. Bad things happen. We think we'll never find happiness again. That we've been overlooked and won't find meaning or love again. But ᓚᘏᗢ "You had me at meow..." ᓚᘏᗢ Yes, you did. "Meowmy heart goes all warm and fuzzy." Mine too. I'm making this sound over simplified, but that's not my intention. This little gem is as deep as you allow it to be. It's something you have to read with your heart, rather than with your head. Having read Book 1. A Man and His Cat last weekend, I am just as enamoured with this continuation. Still absolutely and utterly gorgeous. Again, I cannot fault this graphic novel. All the feels ᓚᘏᗢ It proves to me that love is there if you dare to believe and take that chance. Cuddles and smooches galore! It's so uplifting. Pets truly are the best therapy. And it amused me no end that I'm not the only one with a cat that hogs the bed. How do they manage to do that? STORYLINE: Umi Sakurai ART: Umi Sakurai TRANSLATION : Taylor Engel I really love the illustrations in this book. Especially the close ups of their faces. So much emotion is displayed! I'd recommend this for anyone who needs a hug. Yes, yes and yes. Still magic 💖🐾

This series is just refreshingly adorable, loving, and kind. All the good parts that manga has to offer with none of the ills(no contrived fanservice, incest, no panty shots, weird age-gaps, sister complexes, etc) thus far. I mean it's only vol 2 tho, but so far so good. I loved that we're seeing more of the man's backstory. He was adorable as a child but grew up rather isolated due to his upbringing. A really sweet sequel to the first book, it’s not as sad but still has some tender hearted moments. Kanda and Fukumaru have adjusted to life together and love their days and each other. Very touching.

The cuteness continues! This second volume delves further into the backstory of both "a man" and "his cat" in the cutest, most heart-warming way possible and shows how quickly a cat can fill a lonely void left by someone else. This is just as adorable as volume 1 was, but this one gets more into the Man's (Mr. Kanda) life. It touches more on grieving, trauma, along with learning to love again. I appreciate that this volume touches on more than it just being adorable, even though I love how adorable and cute it is. Also, I still love all of the meow puns and cat/dog little x buttholes. Again, if you're looking for a pallet cleanser, I recommend this manga series. ⭐️5 STARS⭐️ This is just as adorable as volume 1 was, but this one gets more into the Man's (Mr. Kanda) life. Well I cried. Whoops. To be fair, I think it may be less the story and more my own personal life that caused it. This series is so pure and sweet that it is very good for the soul to read.

Fukumaru and Mr. Kanda continue to make an adorable little family, although Fukumaru has some leftover worries that Mr. Kanda might ditch him for a cuter cat. We see a little more of the pet store employee who first helped Mr. Kanda, Mr. Kanda's coworkers, Mr. Kanda's friend Kobayashi, and even some flashbacks to Mr. Kanda's time with his wife. We also learn a little about Mr. Kanda's childhood. I was not quite in the right mood to read this volume when I first started it. We also learn a little about Mr. Kanda's childhood. I was not quite in the right mood to read this volume when I first started it. It seemed very aimless in every way to me, and I kept trying to recall whether volume 1 had given me a similar impression. But I continued on, and after a certain point the volume grew on me. I'm still not really a fan of Fukumaru's design, although I suppose that's the point - he's an odd-looking cat for everyone except Mr. Kanda. The first half of this volume was very heavy on "Mr. Kanda thinks Fukumaru is adorable no matter what he's doing" scenes. The cover art is accurate - lots of Mr. Kanda snuggling Fukumaru. The second half of the volume was a bit heavier, but still mixed with light and cute "Mr. Kanda cuddling Fukumaru" scenes. I found Mr. and Mrs. Kanda to be a charming couple - whereas he looked perfect and elegant, she looked a bit messier and was downright adorable when she saw that cat. I could imagine a shojo manga romance in which he was the cool and quiet male lead and she was the bubbly heroine who brought him out of his shell. The last couple chapters (pet store flashback, in which Mr. Kanda worried about his lack of experience with cats, and a flashback to Mr. Kanda's childhood) underscored that impression I got of him. Poor child-Kanda, I wish (view spoiler)[he'd gotten to pet that cat. (hide spoiler)] My primary complaint is that Square Enix Manga volumes are too short. This was over too quickly. Still, it was good and I'm looking forward to reading volume 3. Extras: A couple full-color pages, including an illustration of child-Kanda cuddling Fukumaru (aww) and a four-panel comic in which Chibi Mr. Kanda dresses up as a cat (weird, but still cute). Also, a one-page comic-style afterword by the author. (Original review posted on A Library Girl's Familiar Diversions.)

AWESOME! The relationship between the man and his cat is so sweet and precious. It is very relatable as I have a cat too. The art is awesome and the cat is adorable. I love it! Hopefully the rest come out in English soon.

Cute and refreshing as always. I like that it shows some more serious topics, but when juxtaposed with Fukumaru, it takes the sting away.

You've seen this one on Tumblr too. A lonely cat despairs of ever being adopted when a lonely widower decides to adopt him. Sheer heartwrenching adorableness ensues. It's episodic like The Way of the Househusband. There are a few things that carry over from comic to comic, but it's mostly just Fukumaru (the cat) and his new daddy getting used to each other. Cat owners will find some Extremely Relatable moments in these pages, including the woes of litter-kicking and sharing a bed with a cat. As You've seen this one on Tumblr too. As I mentioned, it's super adorable and super painful at times too. Both Fukumaru and the Man (who has a name, but I've forgotten it) are very, deeply lonely, and both of them have their own issues that they're working through, but they've found a friend in each other, and the whole comic is on an upward trajectory. The art is very cute, and personally, I think Fukumaru is adorable as hell, but then, I'm a cat person. Highly recommended. Though maybe not if you've just lost a loved one.

The further adventures of Fukumaru and Mr. Kanda. His dog-loving friend Kobayashi steals some scenes though 😜 We see a bit more of Kanda's past here as well as his transition to a full blown cat daddy. Gorgeous, cute artwork. After a personal tragedy, Mr. Kanda adopts Fukumaru, and this is just the sweetest story! Volume 2 had me tearing up a little, I feel like the depictions of Mr. Kanda's grief are true to life, and and therefore it makes the cute moments between him and his cat all the sweeter. 4.5 It is still very cute full of kitty cuteness and touching moments but it was a bit repetitive and needs maybe a little more plot. Overall a feel good read.
