The book almost spends more time covering the author’s own perceptions and memories of the events initiated by the book’s purported biographical subjects than on the subject themselves. Yes, there are some good biographical elements which were probably paraphrased from better biographies written by others, but the book continually refers to itself and discusses “the purpose of this book” and “this book” and “what I’ve been trying to say with this book” at numerous intervals, and claims to “cut through the hyperbole” and “provide critical analysis”.
