On a side note, I've discovered once your collection of books grows large enough...people don't really notice when you add one or two more in per week (ha). As far as this book goes - I would say it's a solid Harry Potter themed cookbook. Unlike the other cookbooks I've seen for Harry Potter, this one has a distinct Holiday twist. The author goes through all of the major events in the book - from the Feasts to the Yule Ball to the disastrous Valentine's Date with Cho - and finds recipes to go along with them. I loved the variety of recipes and the gorgeous full-color pictures that accompany nearly all of them. I do wish that there were more recipes included in this book. I realize that the author was probably limited by how many dishes were mentioned but at the same time, I would've been fine with the author including a few other holiday-appropriate recipes for Harry's time and location (1980-90s England). I also wish that the recipes used in this book were a bit more grounded. While I can easily recognize the dishes from the Valentine's dates, some of the more obscure ones were harder for me to place. A few more sentences to provide context would've been helpful! But overall, I did really enjoy this book and I am really excited to see what the author writes next. This cookbook is 177 pages filled with recipes that can be used for all-year-round and the book is split into sections from Snacks for a Train Ride which includes foods like Licorice Wands and how can we forget Chocolate Frogs. Then we move to our Start of the Term Feasts and have items like Yorkshire Pudding - very British to Desserts like Rice Pudding which is one of my childhood favorites. Then we have our Tea at the Edge of the Forest with Bath Buns and Rock Cakes and the list goes on from foods to have for any magical occasion during the different seasons, all with a Hogwarts Harry Potter twist. This is one book that should be added to the Christmas lists of all Harry Potter fandom fans and who knows this Christmas you could celebrate by having a Harry Potter-themed evening armed with games, fun, and these lovely recipes.

Kilka konkretów. Kuchnia Hogwartu to przepiśnik inspirowany Potterem. Do wyboru, do koloru!

REVIEW The cover is in the red and mustard yellow Gryffindor colours which would make this book look great alongside your official Harry Potter collection. The by-line at the top of the book further promotes the suspense of what recipes will be inside the book, saying “Pumpkin pasties, Treacle tarts, and many more spellbinding treats.” Then there is also more writing/a second by-line at the bottom of the cover that says “75 recipes for a year of magical celebrations.” Which gives you high expecta REVIEW The cover is in the red and mustard yellow Gryffindor colours which would make this book look great alongside your official Harry Potter collection. The by-line at the top of the book further promotes the suspense of what recipes will be inside the book, saying “Pumpkin pasties, Treacle tarts, and many more spellbinding treats.” Then there is also more writing/a second by-line at the bottom of the cover that says “75 recipes for a year of magical celebrations.” Which gives you high expectations for the content of the book. Of course, having read the Harry Potter books and having watched and enjoyed the films I thought this book would be a really interesting take on some of the different foods featured in the books/films. Imagining Butter Beer recipes and other magical concoctions to be revealed. The book actually contains recipes for Chocolate Gateaux, Rock Cakes and Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, which I would say are pretty “British” foods/meals and I guess it’s true they may appear being eaten in the grand hall of Hogwarts. Then there’s Pumpkin pasties which some would categorise as a more “American” food. I think I was expecting more unusual recipes, rather than things I kind of already know how to make. The description I read of the book made me think it would be all Harry Potter themed recipes, like the Cauldron Cakes etc, Perhaps the book is aimed at much younger people that perhaps don’t know now to do a Roast dinner, or Yorkshire puddings. I would say the book is more of a novelty value than a magical recipe book. I guess I didn’t get the real feel of the book as I reviewed an e-book. I think an actual physical copy of the book would be a totally different, maybe more immersive experience. The photographs of the food made along with the formatting of a physical book would certainly improve the experience of reading the book. To sum up this is more of a novelty gift book for someone who loves Harry Potter than a recipe book for a serious cook/baker. I think I should also add that this book is not associated with or authorized or approved by J. K. Rowling, her publishers or Warner Bros.

This cookbook captures all the magic of Hogwarts through each holiday season. There are recipes from all your favorite Harry Potter scenes from the first train ride to Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. I love that each holiday section begins with a little page that describes what we love most about a magical Hogwarts holiday. It's the comforting familiarity of tea and rock cakes in Hagrid's hut. It's the crispy fall weather at Halloween with baked pumpkin and cockroach clusters. We have recipes for a gloomy death-day party, the glorious Yule ball, and a cozy castle breakfast in the Great Hall. On New Year's Day we get chocolate fudge and mince pies. For a special World Cup dinner, we have a chicken-and-ham pie and strawberry ice cream. There is an entire section just for special wizard drinks, some for children like pumpkin juice and butterbeer, and some for the adults like liquid luck and fire whiskey. The Owl-Mail Feast section includes food to feed a certain Marauder dog who might be hiding out in the hills in need of sustenance. His care package includes a ham, sweet buns, and a fruit salad. Some recipes that I definitely want to try are the pumpkin pasties, the carrot cake, cauldron cakes, and of course the famous butterbeer. I love all the traditional British recipes for crumpets, Christmas pudding, trifle, and kippers. But one of the coolest recipes in the entire book has to be the snitch-shaped cake pops for Harry's birthday! I love that there are beautiful photos of each recipe, so you can really see what you are cooking. The pictures are so good that my mouth was watering! And each recipe has clear instructions with the prep time and the serving amounts. The recipes are not too difficult, and some would be simple enough for children to help with the cooking! This wonderful cookbook invites the reader to remember that "Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home." It's a magical experience! A teraz najważniejsze.

I liked the idea behind this one and it was laid out really nicely, but some of the recipes were random and felt more muggle based instead of within Harry Potter. I thought it was more of a Christmas one, but I thought it was best to do other holidays after I realized holidays don’t just mean Christmas. I will however buy anything to do with Harry Potter so happy this one is in my collection

A totally delicious take on our favorite wizarding world. Of course, there are the standard recipes for butter beer and pumpkin pasties, but there are also ones for bouillabaisse, rock cakes, and chocolate frogs. Organized by season/holiday, there are recipes for every skill level and all of them look fabulous. My favorite so far are the butter beer (of course), chocolate fudge, and fancy pork chops. Next I'm looking forward to the Owl Mail Christmas Cake. Thanks to the publisher for an ARC. A totally delicious take on our favorite wizarding world.
