I have mix feeling towards Miss Christy's books. Abstract Love is beautiful. Purple Orchid is not. Engulfing Emma is just... plain. The moral story is good. Everything happens for a reason. Heck I live by this motto. Somehow the plot of the story is trying to push a lot into the story. And every twist/ conflict is solved too easy without too much drama. He is also a loving father to his son. I personally thinks he can have better woman than Emma. Overall I credit this book to its moral message and Brett. The rest just don't work for me. 3 stars

Brett deserved better!! I was really unimpressed with Emma. Her hang ups were ridiculous and unfair. The reasons behind them kinda made sense but she made life so much difficult for everyone because of her thoughtless choices. Overall, while I was really disappointed by this book (Evie was the saving grace!) I’m still a fan of this author and look forward to her next book

“Fear is no reason to forgo happiness.” Words to live by, but are easier said than done. Emma has been through a lot and has to overcome it. She thinks she doesn’t need another hero in her life, but Brett wants to be the one to change that. Brett and Emma are kindred spirits in my opinion. Samantha brings all the feels in this sweet and spicy conclusion to The Men on Fire series.

At the very top has to be how all the series intertwine to a certain extent without you having to actually go back and read them in order to understand. The characters are brought into the story from previous books/series so it keeps them alive. It just makes me so happy to see them again even if they have little to no part in the book. Anyways, back to this story. At about 42% I was absolutely positive that this book has to be my favorite book Samantha Christy has ever written. It was written soo well. The characters are a little different then people would like, but in my opinion that's what makes this story so great. They are dealing with their own shit in their own way. There is no rule that us as people have to follow. If every book has a strong and stable female and male character then I would have stopped reading after my second book. The characters in this book.. all her books actually.. are sooooo well thought out it's amazing. Its so easy to fall in love them regardless of their unlikable qualities. All romance novels are pretty much predictable so why not go for the ones that are so greatly written? "But the last thing I want or need is another hero in my life." Emma Lockhart is a child of a 9/11 hero. He was a firefighter who dedicated his life to helping others. She has major issues that she refuses to deal with or even see as issues. She is a single mother to 11-year old Evelyn or as she goes by:Evie. On the last day of school she gets stuck in a tough situation that is easily the worse day of her life and meets the lovely Brett Cash. “Cash is most definitely hot for teacher,” Cameron says. Brett Cash is oddly enough also a child of a 9/11 hero. His mother was a nurse who worked close to the towers and ran inside to help. He is a father to a two year old and recently divorced. He is almost too good to be true. He is a true alpha, but isn't afraid to get in his feels when things don't go how he wants. “Can I give you a piece of advice?” she asks. I try not to laugh at this twelve-year-old girl trying to impart her wisdom to me. “Sure.” Evelyn Lockheart aka Evie is an absolute sweetheart and the winner in this book! I loved her sass and just all around personality. Sex scenes were amazong and boy they were not lacking at all in this book. The only thing I wish they had more of was time together as a family or maybe a little more scenes with Leo and Emma. Maybe even have Leo there in that final chapter and be part of that very important moment.. it was kinda like him and Bonnie were forgotten. I honestly didn't think I was going to like the 'Men on Fire' Series as much as I did.. I am so excited to see whats next I didn't possibly think Samantha Christy could continue beyond this book and intertwine another series, but boy was I wrong. Can't wait to see what happens with Bria.

So, what’s wrong with this story? ** Spoilers ahead. ** -Emma has serious issues but no therapy is mentioned. Maybe that would have helped with her abandonment/anger issues. -Brett is a bit of a doormat (his own description) for Emma trying to please her. -Most of the story was predictable with few story twists. -People don’t need constant tragedy to make life choices. -Emma was just not a likable character for 95% of the story and Brett was too good to be true. So, if you like a predictable romance, you’ll love this book.

After reading the first two from The Men On Fire series, I couldn’t figure out where Engulfing Emma was going to go except that it would follow Lt Brett Cash’s story. “As far as I can tell, romance is not what Emma is looking for.” But that is exactly what she finds with Brett plus his dirty talk. Sexy encounters with this loving, sweet single father leads Emma to face her fears. This emotional book also superbly honors 9/11 heroes and their families.

I was going to give this a terrible rating then I thought to myself, if an author can invoke me enough to despise a character as much as I did Emma, then it deserves a better rating. The entire story I could not stand Emma's character and felt Brett deserved so much better. Emma only allowed sex with Brett but no dating but then she goes out on dates (many) with other men. When she sees Brett's ex kissing him though it wasn't what she thought after he explains it to her, she gets mad at him and i I was going to give this a terrible rating then I thought to myself, if an author can invoke me enough to despise a character as much as I did Emma, then it deserves a better rating. Man I hated her character so much. She was so rude to him all the time...it was almost abusive to me. He continues to allow her to use him like a door mat. He has no self worth due to his treatment from his ex and now her. I felt horrible for him. She accepts a second date with another guy at the same time suggests for Brett to go to Germany with her and her daughter...did I seriously just read that...then she asked why he is mad at her...she can't be this stupid. The way she treats him is so horrible that I have a hard time finishing this book...ugh...if I read she can't be together with him one more time I think I'm going to pull my hair out...enough already...now its just stupid same old shit different day...could have been more inventive. I truly understand her history with her father and certainly can emphasize with her as I too was affected by that day. However, I felt it was over the top and caught myself rolling my eyes way too much...I would have rather read Brett's POV than hers. I tended to skip over many of her POV as I was over the repetition. I would have never given her any other chances...this would be a HEA if Brett was with a better more mature woman than her...terrible ending in my opinion.

4 stars Great way to remember the heroism of 9/11. It is a day that is bittersweet for me as my son turned 11 on that day. He has never liked his birthday since. However, remembering that love and hope can come out of learning that sometimes the darkest of days can foster healing and light. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be a firefighter or the family of one. I just know I'm grateful for their sacrifices. 4 stars Great way to remember the heroism of 9/11. I have read all 15 of her books, most of them several times. She writes the most awesome male characters, swoon worthy every one. Initially, I couldn't wait to read this one for Cash and Leo. I was looking forward to reading about a wonderful woman for his HEA after all the ridiculousness that was so selfish of Amanda (from book2) . But Emma was another batch of ridiculousness entirely. I definitely found myself not very present for most of the story, either rereading because I zoned out and somehow missed something or I was twitching to skip ahead because it was the same thing over and over for Emma until a giant tragedy had to take place further into story before any real story development imo got underway. As always, love the children in the story. They brought some cuteness and warmth to the scenes and that helped me to stay grounded in between exasperating situations in the scenes involving some of the adults.

Samantha Christy’s Men on Fire series continues with a slow burn. Engulfing Emma is a story about Emma, a single mom, who has turned her heart away from love. She is afraid of moving forward after the loss of her father in 9/11. Brett is a NYC firefighter whose main sources of joy are fighting fires and his son. While Bret might be ready to jump in headfirst with Emma, she needs a bit more convincing. Will they be able to find their happily ever after, or will Emma’s fears keep them apart until Samantha Christy’s Men on Fire series continues with a slow burn. While I did enjoy this book, I do not think that it fully lived up to the hype of the rest of the books. I understand Emma’s hesitation, but I think that this book took slow burn a little too far. All in all, I think that it would be best for readers to read the other books first so that you can be fully entrenched in this world. With all of that being said, Engulfing Emma is a good read that will keep you one your toes!

So in theory this book should have been amazing, but instead I was left so disappointed. Emma had some trauma in her childhood, with loosing her father in 9/11 and while this is a traumatic experience she lets it rule her life, she never had therapy to help her cope and instead allowed it to make her a person that personally I could never even be friends with. To be very honest, I completely disliked her, she had no redeeming qualities and that breaks my heart because I hate being down on woman, So in theory this book should have been amazing, but instead I was left so disappointed. DONT BOTHER I'm giving it 2 stars, simply because of the dedication to 911. If you wrote Emma as a decent adversary for a hot hunky firefighter, instead of a woe is me, I'm scared of everything, and just uses men for sex, slut, the story would have been WORTH READING, so instead of my usual book read in 1 day, I couldn't keep reading it, I had to put it down dozens of time just to get through it, it took me nearly 3weeks to read a book I would have read in a DAY!!!!!!!!!! And I'm not a quitter, so DONT BOTHER I'm giving it 2 stars, simply because of the dedication to 911. And hating her father to boot. I will never read anything by you in the future and will pass my feelings on to others, this was a travesty!!!!!!!

It’s a no from me... This is the first Samantha Christy book I didn’t like. While I loved the setting, the supporting characters, and Evie was incredible, I spent the entire book mad at Emma. Yelling and snarling at my iPad kind of mad at her. Everyone grieves in their own way, as they should, but she was so far beyond selfish I can’t get past it. With little to no remorse, she used Brett - and every other person she dated - in such a despicable manner that it just turned me off. I will continue It’s a no from me... I will continue to read everything Ms. Christy writes because normally her work touches my heart in unbelievable ways...but the strong feelings invoked with this one just aren’t positive at all.

Heart strings. Is the best way for me to describe this book. As a wife of a fireman I love this series. This book touched on emotions that I have felt and fears I to have had. I believe this is the best book you have written to date by Samatha. Brett is a Lieutenant on a Squad in NY with an adorable little one name Leo. Emma is a school teacher who’s daughter is 12 and goes by Evie. When a tragedy strikes and Emma’s school, she makes a split decision to help. What she doesn’t realized is Brett w Heart strings.
