"One of the best PNR series ever written." I just can't put these books down! I.T. I can't WAIT for the next book in the series to see what happens!!!!" "This is a series not to be missed. Truly, one of the best Paranormal Romance series ever written." "FANTASTIC SERIES. This series is absolutely one of my favorite. I love being able to follow the lives of the characters from book to book and keep up with what is going on in their lives. In DARK OPERATIVE, Bridget meets Turner and the possibility of a long awaited love presents itself, but with obstacles on the horizon, there is a possibility that their romance will not be realized. As usual, I am anxiously awaiting the next installment. Oh, did I say I LOVE this series!!" "Brilliant as always. Totally captivating! This series gets me Every. Single. Time. My heart goes out to Bridget and Turner. I hope they are lovemates! --------------------------------------------------- As a brilliant strategist and the only human entrusted with the secret of immortals’ existence, Turner is both an asset and a liability to the clan. His request to attempt transition into immortality as an alternative to cancer treatments cannot be denied without risking the clan’s exposure. On the other hand, approving it means risking his premature death. In both scenarios, the clan will lose a valuable ally. When the decision is left to the clan’s physician, Turner makes plans to manipulate her by taking advantage of her interest in him. Will Bridget fall for the cold, calculated operative? Or will Turner fall into his own trap? --------------------------------------------------- The loneliness didn't bother Turner. He was entirely satisfied with his own company. Even sex wasn't a strong enough motivator to seek out partners other than the paid kind. Dealing with people in any capacity other than professional was a strain. He wasn't a charmer who knew how to pick up women, and he didn't arm himself with the latest jokes and sports statistics to entertain company. The things he liked to talk about were as effective at prompting others' hasty departure as small talk was for him. Bridget, however, was not only highly intelligent but one of the most alluring women he had ever encountered, maybe because she wasn't as transparent to him as most people were. And she was hot. As much as Turner liked to believe he was all brain and not susceptible to primal urges, apparently they were still there, lying dormant until the right woman triggered their resurgence.

This book reads at an uneven pace, slow then fast, seems almost like the plot plays catch up at points. As for Turner I thought his back story made him more relatable and his emotional melt down made me feel more emphatic to his character. I want to know when Lughal will make his appearance and if he will side with the Clan or remain aloof. The Clan needs all the help they can get since there are so few of them and too few trained fighters. You can sense that there is going to be a coming fateful confrontation with the Doomers soon and somehow involve the newly built village. Personally I think the Doomers plot should focus on dismantling the international slave trade market but on a subtle plot of brilliant strategy not major battles. I like to think that maybe one of Kian’s sisters finds a true love mate with Lughal (the missing son of Nuveh) thus binding that factor of fighters to the Clan. I eagerly await the next book. Plus what is with Amanda and Dalhu not going through a Clan marriage ceremony when all the other main characters are. It makes me feel like Dalhu will forever be an outsider with the Clan, he is such a great character that should be utilized more

Now only two Gods remain both sworn enemies: The followers of Morta, the Doomers and the descendants of the Goddess Annani. Books 17, 18 & 19 the Dark Operative mini-series novels are the love story of Bridget, the immortal clan’s doctor and (Victor) Turner who we’ve met in former novels, Andrew’s former boss and the only human who is allowed to know about the existence of the immortal clan. Lucas’ series continues to wow with an inventive spin on paranormal romance, keeping it fresh with her inventive storytelling and ever changing world building. These books had a turning point feel to them that may have kept the pace a bit slower but not to worry it doesn’t affect the enjoyment and readers will still get their immortal fix, an exciting side-story romance while catching up with the rest of the clan including a cameo appearance by the Goddess Annani herself. And like the rest of the books in this series they must be read in order. SUMMARY: As a black ops operative Turner has faces life and death situations on a daily basis but now with a diagnosis of cancer he’s facing certain death – unless his intuition that he’s a dormant immortal is true and he can convince the leader of the clan to allow him to try to transition. He’s got one ace in the whole his new love interest is the clan’s hot blooded, fiery redheaded doctor. Bridget has lived a long time (she’ll never tell just how long) and in that time she’s only loved one male, her son. But now this sexy, intense dark operative has come into her life and he could just be the one. There’s just a few problems, he’s human, he has cancer and he could be delusional because he thinks he’s a dormant but even if he is he’s way to old to transition. In the mean time back at the keep the clan’s new village is ready to start taking residents and there’s another immortal and dormant falling in love.

Was a little disappointed in this one after the highs of Brundar's story. The romance between Turner and Bridget just felt forced with too much inner monologue and filler moments. I am not keen on the slave plans Turner came up with i can see that being another storyline that goes nowhere. Robert and Sharon also move way too fast in this book considering we hardly know Sharon it just seems thrown in to add more filler. I hope the next installment is better and this is not the beginning of the decline for this series.

Too much introspection! My biggest peeve is when an author ruins scenes with paragraphs of introspection and it's even worse when they keep repeating the same thoughts and doubts. This is this author's greatest downfall. Well, she also stretches out her stories for too long. This would usually be enough for me to stop reading but the story has real potential. I really couldn't care one way or the other which way they go but I know this author will drag it out for at least two more books. I hope the developing plots are enough to hold my interest. I have one more complaint. It's about how they ate handling the search for Dormants. They are all over the place in their research but they could solve most of it by a simple genealogy search and then following their descendants. There are going to be records no matter how someone tried to cover their tracks. I'm going to read one more book but things need to start moving faster or it won't hold my interest for long

So far it's a slow ride in this love story. Not much passion. I'm in love with the man in the cover photo for sure. Turner is growing on me. Bridget is an independent, intelligent, capable and strong woman so she can definitely hold her own with Turner. After getting some back story into Turner, he starts to become a character you can fall for. Their relationship falls short on the passion and chemistry. Especially after reading Brundar's story. We don't know if Turner is a Dormant, hopefully there will be some reveal coming that will make him a Dormant. He would make a great asset to the clan. I'm rooting for Roni and Sylvia. Poor Roni has tried so many times to transition. We really didn't get to see much of the previous characters. I'm hoping for some action and passion in the next book.

Another great episode. I must say that I have wondered if Lucas roughed out the whole story before she even began. Case in point, Turner was introduced earlier in Andrew's book. Did she even then see him becoming more involved his own story? At first glance it would seem unlikely for Turner to fall in love. After all, he is the king of keeping a strict hold on his feelings. But then he met Dr Bridget. Bridget is far from emotionless and yet she feels attracted to Turner, mainly for his good looks Another great episode. The fact that Turner has lung cancer is a big problem because he wants to attempt to transition! The Doomers come into the picture again with Loomas losing a number of his men and being called back to the island. Roni is achieving his dreams and there is still a lot to look forward to.

Kian never stops working but he is trying to delegate some, just not enough. There wasn’t much on the other characters in this book, except for Roni and Sylvia. We are finally introduced to her mother who is learning to work at the deli with Jackson. Can’t wait to read more.

Back to Just OK... I have a thing for damaged men... even the emotionally stunted ones...so I'm kinda liking Turner. I didn't think I would. I'm a little surprised to find that I'm not really liking Bridget all that much. This is a paranormal romance and is the seventieth in the Children of the God series and the first of the Dark Operative trilogy. Our new favorite couple is Victor Turner and Dr. Bridgette. Turner is ex-boss of Andrew and is the only human that knows about the immortals, which becomes a problem when he wants to try and transition to escape the grip of lung cancer. Hoping to pad his odds of getting approved for the risky procedure, he tries to seduce the lovely Immortal doctor. What A Great Ride These Books Have Been Since I've taken Them for A Spin! So, I totally hated Turner from the other books he seemed like a complete shite and ruthless but after I've read his story with Bridget And all that is important to him,I have to say I'm rooting for the guy. I have absolutely enjoyed Bridget through getting to know her character in all of the books.I really want to see her get her forever but at the same time right about now in the story would be great for a tragedy to hit. Dark Operative book #17 Well what do you know! Two of the unlikelyest of people find each other and hit it off! They are falling madly in love but don't even know it yet. Well at least the immortal has but the human has buried his emotions so deeply that he doesn't recognize that he has any! And then of course he can't recognize that he's in love, yet! I thought... I thought that this story was going to be less emotional than Brundar’s story was I wrong or what. My goodness Turner is a wonderful, totally military, Alpha male. I love him. Bridget brilliant as always and the maternal side of her is beautiful. She reminds of my own mother. Single, strong and full of love and warmth for those she cares about, but beware those who mess with her babies. I can wait to read the next one...

:) You learn so much more behind Tuners character, and how even a grown man set in his ways can even change a bit with the right circumstances. If your loving this series, you will enjoy this book as there is another transformation, more insight to the Doomers, and even more Kian. I do enjoy how these books encompass the whole clan instead of just one couple.

Is Turner a Dormant or not? I like the romance aspects of the books, however the stories are the same. Man, woman falls in love, one immortal, one human. I like the spicy relationships that results in finding one's life partner. I'm not convinced that Turner is a good person, rather an opportunist. The clan need to find a way to dispose of him sooner than later. Is Turner a Dormant or not? I like the romance aspects of the books, however the stories are the same. I'm wondering where the doomers are disappearing to. I hope she brings in a storyline with that scenario too. This is a good read for anyone who read the other 16 books.
