It was okay-ish. Sweet in the beginning. Until Eli texted Cody : Hi Cody, this is Eli. And Cody answered Eli : Hello Eli . Full stop. That was annoying af. Who texted your crush like that after a passionate night together? Eli, for sure... (put a thousand eyerolling emojis here) (story was sweet, but not too memorable, or maybe I was just not in the right mood for this story)

I don't mind if a story is short, but I had a lot of issues with this one. Honestly the most interesting character here was the cat, the two guys remained bland and didn't really keep me interested. However, what really turned me off was that the story suddenly just ended, with an insta HEA that left me stunned. On one page we are in the middle of the story, on the next its over, like the word count for the story had been reached, or the author had something else planned for the day and just stopped I don't mind if a story is short, but I had a lot of issues with this one. Big Sexy & Unicorned I knew the Sheriff had a love story waiting to happen and I am so glad it was Cody. BTW, if I am ever lucky enough to have them over for dinner I’ll make sure dessert is served first. “I have rules for myself, and you break pretty much every one of them.” I love how protective Eli is without being overbearing and aside from Cody’s tattoos—gah—I adore his independence and feistiness. Perhaps the newspaper will have more surprises to share. Another delightful addition to this series.

For a novella there was too much going on and everything happened too fast. The writing felt very perfunctory and just left me indifferent in the end. Didn't help that a lot of the dialog was incredibly cheesy. For a novella there was too much going on and everything happened too fast. I love how these two men come together and Cody is so understanding and patient, wanting the best for Eli especially when it comes to the upcoming elections. Eli stands firm once he decides what he wants and is more than willing to fight for Cody. There's a real heat between them when they are together that's equally balanced by the sweetness that develops in their relationship. Friends and family in the town show the softer side of both men, especially when it comes to Eli's niece and nephew. There's a bit of drama with the elections and the current town mayor and pastor being homophobic. It causes stress and even some damage to Cody's business but Eli is always there, standing strong in his belief of himself and the townspeople doing what's right. Loving this series and Sheriff's Choice is a great addition. There's fun, heat, love and friendship which combats the negativity of the bad guys of the story. It's definitely a low angst romance and one I highly recommend. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

3 and 1/2 stars. It’s a lot of insta love and little bit of a rushed plot. However, it’s a sweet story and I liked the sheriff. I like the romance of an older very masculine guy with a younger guy. This is a great book for when you want a quick low angst read.

Again a fluffy feel-good story with not much drama, under two hours reading time. Perfect easy read in between, can easily be read as a standalone.

I am so happy that the author wrote an expanded version of this story, I had felt it was incomplete when I read the short story in May. I loved how this story showed how much support these men could get even in a small town where you have to deal with small minded people (not that they aren’t everywhere). Eli is such a sweetheart and he jumps right into their relationship not worrying about what others will think. Cody does more worrying but their friends help him to see that he doesn’t need to. Oh Eli and Cody. I knew the Sheriff had a love story waiting to happen and I am so glad it was Cody. They’re both sexy; Eli with his protectiveness and Cody with his tattoos and his attitude. I really need to visit River Gorge someday as I’d like to have a coffee and visit with everyone at Cap’s.

I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+ 3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B 2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok). It's like a C-, D 1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

4.25-4.5 stars I LOVE this series! I am SOOOO glad Ms James wrote more books about the men in River Gorge. Sheriff Eli Barrett meets sext mechanic Cody Iverson and they agree to just one night together. However they both know that one time would never be enough. With Eli up for re-election, Cody isn’t so sure making their ‘relationship’ public in such a small town is such a good idea. Eli tries to reassure Cody that he won’t hide who he is and that if he doesn’t get re-elected, Cody is well worth 4.25-4.5 stars I LOVE this series! I did not care for this book and have now lost interest in the series as a whole. Cody and Eli don't have a lot of chemistry. I don't buy their attraction to one another. It barely seemed like Cody noticed Eli until the plot remembered this was a romance. I liked the conflict the couple had to overcome. The small town, up to this point in the series, had been mostly accepting of the queer couples. I felt bad that Cody had to deal with a hate crime but was happy he wasn't hurt in the process. I think it'll be worth to finish if this book was good for you.

So sweet! Really loved this story. It was sweet but in a real way? If that makes sense? Eli and Cody were such a great couple. I just adored eli. He was firm with Cody when he was drunk and didn't hold his behavior against him or even really tease him too much about it. Even though he originally wanted just one night on the DL he quickly flipped that and even basically came out for/with him in spite of potentially losing his job. I love this series, and Cody and Eli are one of my favourite couples now! Eli has a lot of love to give and he just meshed with Cody so incredibly well. And I loved just how sure Eli is of Cody and how sweet and protective his instincts are. I had read the earlier version of this novella but I'm glad it was expanded because we got answers to a lot of questions, especially who vandalised the shop. And the ending now has an actual solid resolution. Eli and Cody are super sweet and I can't wait to I love this series, and Cody and Eli are one of my favourite couples now! I skipped the free novella and waited for this full story. Eli doesn't want to out himself as bi but after one night with Cody he changes his mind. An incident at Cody's garage moves their relationship forward a bit quicker than they would have on their own. Their lives mesh together well. With a little bit of drama and controversy settled by the end of the book I now have a new character I want to find out about. Who is Dalton? An enjoyable, light read. Super weak plot development. Let’s date for a month and let’s get married next month doesn’t work at all. And the two pivotal plot twists - with the home invasion and the contested election - were so fleeting and lukewarm that the writer might as well not have bothered. Writing by numbers at its worst.

So refreshing to read about two men living in a small town who never once questioned their sexuality. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good internal struggle as much as the next reader, but there’s something *really* swoon-worthy about Eli being confident in his sexuality *and* his relationship. Then there’s Cody. Such a sweetheart. His first impulse is to do exactly what is needed without thinking of the pay-off, whether it’s helping old ladies who run out of gas or feeding Eli’s buddies on poker n So refreshing to read about two men living in a small town who never once questioned their sexuality. Cody doesn’t see how special this makes him, but Eli sees it. Add in that *Eli* is the one refusing to put their relationship under wraps in order to win an election and *Cody* trusting that what they have is long-term regardless of what they do short-term and….sigh. There is very little angst in this book, and the little bit of external drama is less about DRAMA and more about giving dimension to how much these two men love each other. Happy romance reading at its finest.

One time only, Not! Living in a country town can be great but not all citizens are open minded. The Sherrif had been married and lived in the city for awhile but moved back to his home town. Everyday this really cute man who is new in town as their mechanic makes his heart beat faster when ordering his cuppa at the local diner.
