   We used this series for homeschooling and I could not have been more pleased. Wholesome and gentle, yet very informative, they kept the rapt attention of my little readers. When it is young, it stays in one place and grows fast; but when it has grown up, it swims about wherever it chooses. I wonder which is the better way? Which way would you like best? Some of the jellyfish come from an egg. Others come from what is called a "bud". Let us look at both of them. The egg at once fastens to some solid thing on the bottom of the sea. It grows into what looks like a plant with stems and branches. On these branches are little cup-shaped buds. These buds are many little jellyfish growing on one stem. This is the larva stage. After a time, these buds open and a young jellyfish breaks from the slender stem. At once it goes swimming away, as happy as a jellyfish knows how to be... Reading, Science, and Philosophy all at once. Each chapter ends with a set of questions. They're not easy either.

   We have loved this book for teaching nature study in 1st-2nd grade. As Muslims, the mention of God creating such creatures is welcome. We did skip the last 20ish pages where it got more into doctrine. The first 130 pages were all doctrine unspecific to such a degree basically any religion could use it.

   We enjoyed the bits of information about Nature but didn’t care for the indoctrination. It was confusing that they used God and Jesus interchangeably. We are also not of the belief that man has dominion over Nature. We gained our ideas/inventions from Nature.

   We have been reading these books together in our homeschool. They are a wonderful, gentle introduction to nature for young kids.

   We read a few pages of this each day for a homeschool project. The animal facts were interesting and informative! It didn’t always keep my 8 yr old’s attention, but it was a good read anyway.
