Poorly written tabloid-style overview of Kris Jenner's life, mostly based on magazine articles and books with very little original research or first-person interviews. No footnotes or attributions. If you like Us Weekly you may enjoy this sensationalized style of writing--they call Jenner "the Mother of All Media." Seriously? For the average reader this will be extremely disappointing. The book is filled with errors, unnecessary author opinions (mostly hyping how great Kris is), slams against Bruce Jenner both before and after his transitioning to Caitlin, and most surprisingly jams the past 15 years into the last few pages while pretty much ending the story in 2016. One other big problem--at the start of the book the authors say that some of it is made up. They admit to fabricating conversations, but at no point in the book do they tell us when that occurs. So the book is a mixture of facts, gossip, conjecture, and faked quotes. Without identifying which is which, you can't trust any of it to be true. The only part of the book really worth reading are the ten pages devoted to how Keeping Up with the Kardashians came to become a TV show. It has little to do with Ryan Seacrest. Otherwise there is way, way too much about Bruce Jenner here, way too much about the O.J. Simpson trial (which could have been done in a couple paragraphs), and not anywhere near as much objective original research on Kris Jenner. After reading this book I know almost nothing new beyond what has already appeared for years in the tabloids. I wouldn't trust a thing she ever says or does since she lies and fakes it frequently to gain attention and money. She also is very anti-family (outside her birth daughters) and is not living as the born-again Christian she claims to be, refusing to talk to her sister or mother-in-law or step-children while living a trashy life of sex, cheating, and drinking. It's all pretty sick that they can with a straight face claim to be Christians when their nearest relatives are on record as saying how bad the Kardashian family is. In many ways Kris Jenner reminds me of Oprah, and that's not a compliment. Both built money-making media careers by manipulating and using others while promoting themselves as generous loving Christian people. Both of them have many relatives and former friends on record condemning them as being selfish bossy control freaks. Yet both became multimillionaires by loving fame and attention. Dirty Sexy Money, what I thought to be a horrible title at first, fairly summarizes how bad Kris Jenner is. But it also represents how bad the tabloid writing is from an author who used to work for the National Enquirer. Don't believe a word any of them, writers or subjects, say because it's all about the dirty money.

If the only thing Kris Jenner ever did was raise Kylie, one of the world's youngest almost-billionaires, she would be a fascinating woman. How did she manage to turn the Khardasians into such a successful, long-lasting brand while also remaining BFFs with her daughters? Cathy Griffin does a great job of giving us the inside story. Despite the tabloid title (and yes there are plenty of juicy stories about Kim's sex tape, Kris' relationship with Bruce, etc.,) this is really the story of a woman who has been a strong role model for her daughters. She didn't just put reality TV on the map - she groomed her daughters to be at the top of their fields. Sure, you can say she exploited her family, but with Kim now getting prisoners freed, Kylie selling her business for half a billion and Kendall being the world's top model, you could ask what mother wouldn't be proud of these girls. Griffin does a great job of explaining how Kris pulled herself up from almost nothing to make herself and her family famous. You can really understand Kris as a young woman and then a young wife and mother. The book makes a strong argument that she exploited the men her life as well as her daughters, but she certainly gave Bruce Jenner a successful post-Olympic career. I've really been fascinating by the Khardasians and it's almost a guilty pleasure. But I think in a few years they'll be studying Kris in business schools. Or they can start next semester with this book! It's a fun read that also has something important to say about strong women.

Poorly written book with errors. Was Cesar 12, 2 or 10 years older than Kris? You'll have to Google to find out. And Deauville? Not in the South of France (note to authors - nobody says Southern France), it is in the northwest. They obviously have a thing for Kim because they went on and on about her "exquisite beauty" even in her infancy. It's something I don't see, not even looking at her baby pics. But I do have to say Kris and Caitlyn were a good match - two self-absorbed narcissists. Poorly written book with errors. Was Cesar 12, 2 or 10 years older than Kris? I'd like to say I wouldn't have read this if I wasn't sick, but who knows. This was the most pointless "unauthorized" biography ever. There was nothing new in it, nothing juicy at all, and the only "surprising" part is that Kris Jenner is as awful as she appears.
