Being on painkillers from recent (yesterday) surgery may have affected my judgement, but I think I liked this one more than the first. I really should have recapped the first book, as the volume of books I read makes it difficult to recall what happened if it's been a while. This can't really stand on its own, but enough things jogged my memory to get me back on track. A well-paced story, good, developing characters, and an interesting world. Has good moments, but ultimately not worth the aggravation So I absolutely HATED how book 1 starts. A friend told me it gets better just past where I quit, so I went back, kept reading and he was right! It got worlds better and I liked the rest of book 1. The problem with that is that I kept thinking that if I just read a little bit more, book 2 would get worlds better real soon. -it never did. Or more accurate to say, it always seemed on the verge of getting better, and being as cool as book 1. This is where it gets better" only for that spark to fizzle out, and this book going back to being mostly blah, with lots and lots of annoying. IF Sain Artwell ever writes a book 3 (and it doesn't look like he ever will) I intend to NOT read that book, but I probably will because I keep going back and eating at Taco Bell. I don't know why I do that to myself.

As a continuation it served its purpose, we get advancement from Will, he stabilize his power in this one, as he grows his ally’s. But there is not much improvement in his intelligence in this one, the deal he strikes at the end (view spoiler)[who makes deals with devils and expect to trust them to keep their bargain? (hide spoiler)] is prove enough of that. The mention of his gang makes me doubt the intentions the author holds for them, I thought that at the very least one of them would be real As a continuation it served its purpose, we get advancement from Will, he stabilize his power in this one, as he grows his ally’s.
