Saint Nick begins This is especially interesting, based as it is on history and our beloved Christmas legend. But Nicholas didn’t start out as a legend, but as a young man facing a sudden tornado of difficulties—difficulties God uses to call Nicholas into his life’s purpose. This is not a hagiography, but a really good book that would probably be good for ages 10 through adult.

A Delightful Story I found this quick read to be a truly delightful story that may represent more of a true character of Nicholas' early life than most of the legends and stories told! I gladly gave it five stars as an interesting story with well developed characters and a captivating plot! Although its target audience is likely teenagers (and would that more teens read this!) I enjoyed it as an adult and highly recommend it for teens and adults alike! Enjoy!! This is the second book I've read recently about St. Nicholas "becoming" Santa Claus. 'Tis the season. The story is the early life of Nicholas, and is mostly centered around the well-known story about the saint giving money for the doweries of three young women. It gives an interesting perspective on how Nicholas lost his wealth; the rest of which he eventually gave away. While I enjoyed the story, the narrative parts slowed the overall story down. I do commend the author for showing the original This is the second book I've read recently about St. Nicholas "becoming" Santa Claus. 'Tis the season. Need more time to think Need to read again. More time to investigate the situations presented as the story of the beginning of Saint Nicholas' life as I am not that familiar with this Saint. This was an interesting book. Everything was a little too "pat" in connecting to today's depiction of Santa Claus, leading me to wonder if it was really true or not. This was an interesting book.
