Every once in a while, a great cookbook will ignite fond memories from your past and transport you to another time and place. Growing up in Maryland, my parents would drive the family up to Lancaster, PA, Amish country, and some of the farms along the way would sell their baked goods, muffins raisin bread, zucchini bread, and the like. This cookbook transferred me back to those memories and the delectable baked goods we’d purchase on those days only to start gobbling up before we even got back ho Every once in a while, a great cookbook will ignite fond memories from your past and transport you to another time and place. This cookbook transferred me back to those memories and the delectable baked goods we’d purchase on those days only to start gobbling up before we even got back home. The recipes in the book are simple and refined, manageable for most novice bakers and the handful I tried, had to stop before I put on 10lbs, were delicious. The cookbook evokes the simple pleasures of an Amish lifestyle and the delicious baked goods that come with it. A strong buy for any home baker.

Brunstetter's Amish Friends Baking Cookbook is a well written and organized cookbook for baked goods. I thought the baking tips and explanations were helpful, even as a fairly experienced baker. I even enjoyed learning a bit about the history of the Amish and Mennonite history, when usually I skim through the background and personal stories and rush ahead to the actual recipes. I found the recipes and instructions to be well written and easy to follow, and the pictures enticing to the point where I am going to try out a couple this weekend. I think this book will be perfect for those interested in the author and the subject matter. It might not be one for my personal collect (thinks to being out of room) but is one that I would definitely borrow from the library or recommend for those looking to expand their collection.

This is a must-have cookbook for anyone with a soft spot for baked goods, from New York Times bestselling author of Amish fiction, Wanda E. Brunstetter. OH, I HATE IT WHEN I GET A SAMPLE OF A COOKBOOK!! I wanted it all!!!! ... but it does get me to buy the book. Wanda B. is an amazing author of fiction and cookbooks - there are dozens of ideas in here that I will want to try and make as I am getting back into baking. The recipes are well written and understandable by cooks of all levels and the photos make the food very appealing to myself and other lovers of food out there and I cannot wait to add the entire book to my Wanda B. shelf! I especially love the book because it uses mostly whole ingredients instead of pre-prepared and packaged foods. I do draw the line at making my own cheese beyond a quickly-made mozzarella, and canning tomatoes but the more "ingredients" you use the better. My one nephew says that I never have any food in my house, only ingredients --- that is why I cook so much. I also refuse to eat or cook with Frankenfoods such as "chick'n" and its 88 ingredients vs. 🐔chicken🐔 having one and cheese that does not come from an animal is udder nonsense!) I will recommend this book to friends, family, patrons, book clubs, and people reading books in the park as we do … I have had some of my best conversations about books down by the Thames! As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I simply adore emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/snowflakes / literally-like-overusers etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🥧🧁🍪🍩🎂

I love reading Wanda Brunstetter’s Amish books, so I was excited to read this cookbook. Mrs. Brunstetter weaves in stories and pictures, along with the recipes. I am a busy, working mom. I like recipes that are delicious AND easy. This book checks off both of those boxes for me. Many of the recipes use ingredients that most home cooks will already have in their house. That is another plus. This is the book you will go to when you need something for a family get together or a school bake sale. I will say that as I received a sample digital copy, I was not able to view pictures of the food items. Brunstetter Published by Barbour Publishing This lovely spiral-bound cookbook combines some of my most favorite things like books by Wanda Brunstetter because you know she only writes wholesome, loveable, interesting books; Amish recipes because they are the best kinds of recipes tasty, easy enough for anyone to master; Baking, my favorite kitchen activity. I have already made the AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD. My family enjoys this bread. We make the recipe a little easier for us and a lot more fun for any children helping out. We put the initial starter into a 1-gallon zipper bag. Much less messy for mixing and stirring in the new ingredients. Everyone likes smushing the bag to corporate the ingredients together. If you make this recipe much, you'll find out if your friends really like the bread or if they'd like to pass. I don't bother my friends with starter bags, which I put into sandwich-sized zipper bags, I simply put them in a tub into the freezer. Saving them for our family. I sometimes share a loaf of Amish Friendship Bread, but don't offer unless they request the starter. I look forward to making the POTATO SOURDOUGH BUNS. The recipe calls for 12 ounces of potatoes, cooked, and mashed. I am more comfortable with cup measuring, in cooking. Here's what I've researched, 12 oz of potatoes is equal to about 2 medium potatoes when mashed equals about 1 cup. I've already written the conversion notes into my copy. We've made the TEXAS SHEET CAKE, delicious and easy to prepare. I could go on and on, all of the recipes look delicious. We look forward to trying nearly every recipe. One of the things that I always adore about Wanda's cookbooks are the beautiful pictures and the sweet bible verses she incorporates into them. The savory bakes section make for a good nights dinner to couple with one of the delicious sweet treat recipes. Spiral bound with a beautiful cover this cookbook would make a wonderful gift for the baker in your life so why not get a start on your Christmas shopping by purchasing a copy for two of Wanda's latest cookbook. You will be so glad you did. This is a five star cookbook. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

If you’ve never bought one of Brunstetter’s Amish cookbooks, you are missing out on some delicious recipes!! MmmMmm!!! I plan on trying my hand at several more recipes, especially the White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake since that is my all-time favorite flavor of Cheesecake! It actually looks fairly easy to make. I was surprised that the baker recommends using a handheld mixer to beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth but hey, I’m all for electricity! LOL I received a copy of this beautifully presented cookbook from the publisher with no expectation of a review.

My family loves desserts and thanks to Wanda's new "Baking cookbook" we will enjoy trying many of the 200 recipes. Before starting our experimenting with some of the recipes I enjoyed learning some history and how the word Amish was derived. The Anabaptist History was very interesting and like they say you learn something new each day and I did by reading this. Some of the members of my family liked some of these more than others but will continue to try some new ones and this is perfect to experiment with before the holidays and would even make a lovely gift for the holidays or even a hostess gift. I think everyone has different tastes but you have a large enough selection of cakes, pies, cookies, bars. bread and muffins so that each person can choose what they like best.

I admit that I love getting a new cookbook especially one of Wanda E. Brustetters' cookbooks. This cookbook has some great, unknown recipes or also called recipes I've not heard of. There are easy and delicious recipes or there are intricate and delicious recipes. So many great new ideas. I am especially interested in the bread recipes right now. After all that has transpired in our world the past two years I've decided to learn to make an easy but good bread. I found two recipes in this book that I'm going to try. Pumpkin bread and Unleavened bread. There's also a recipe for Friendship Bread but that's like taking on a new family member so maybe at another time for me. This is a fantabulous cookbook so be sure to get a copy while they're flying off the shelves. I did make the recipe below, Cherry Melt-Away Bars, the other day and they are DELICIOUS! So I'm sharing the recipe with you: *This book was provided for review by Barbour Publishing*

What a beauty this is on the outside as well as inside. The cover tempts you to step inside and would easily wipe off if you accidentally laid it in something. The pages turn easily and I love the scripture that is woven within. Ms. Brunstetter writes an interesting introduction and Annabaptist History. I love the cookbooks by Wanda Brunstetter and now she has added another great one to her collection. One of the great advantages to living close to the Amish is getting to enjoy their cooking, especially their desserts. You will definitely want to add this to your cookbook collection. As with all her other cookbooks, this one is full of beautiful photography of the foods. There are nearly 200 recipes broken down by indexes by Contributors, Recipes by Section, and Recipes by Key Ingredients. This new book is full of 180 recipes to try-from the homes of Amish and Mennonite women. The cookbook takes you on a brief history of just how both groups got established here. I enjoyed that and sure you will also. The cookbook has sections that include, cookies, bars, pies, cakes, desserts, breads and more. I'm sure the cookbook will become a "go to" cookbook for you. With that in mind, I found it's spiral feature is wonderful, no need to prop it open with anything, also the cover is coated maki This new book is full of 180 recipes to try-from the homes of Amish and Mennonite women.
