Aldous Crane is a paranormal investigator who debunks claims of hauntings. A friend of his sister is tormented by a spirit in her new home. Why does the apartment look like a dollhouse? What is the significance? Will Aldous be able to deal with the spirit? I enjoyed reading this gut wrenching book.

Claire, quilt in hands, was hoping to ask for his help on behalf of her BFF Sadie... then crash on his couch until morning... instead she crashed into a lamp... As they drink coffee, Claire tells Aldous about how Sadie is having frightening paranormal events in her new home, an old two-story brownstone... ... Sadie's upstairs bedroom has an attic hatch without a door and after nightfall she can hear sounds coming from the pitch- black opening... She was so scared that she'd taken to Sleeping on a mattress that she'd dragged downstairs into the kitchen... Sadie's livelihood is making miniature dollhouses complete with little furniture and little people in them... ... each morning she finds that the figures have been moved... One night, while she stared at the creepy blackness of the gaping hole leading to the attic, she thought she saw someone hunched up there... looking down at her... ... she hammered a plank of wood over the hole but later that night... she heard knocking on the makeshift covering... ... like something wanting to be let out... Sadie, Claire explained to Aldous, needs his expertise in the paranormal to rid her house of whatever lives there... In this 3rd installment of this series, poor Aldous is wakened again in the wee hours to assist some poor soul with the unknown and unexplained. This story was pretty good but it still doesn't reach the level of the 1st installment THE TASTER. I'm on to the 4th installment and find that I'm hooked on the series!

Marc Layton's writing is fabulous! He sets the scene so incredibly well - that you are immediately transported into the middle of a 360° 3D movie of terror. Each book in this cracking series seems more like a separate chapter as they are so short. But I'm not sure our poor hearts would cope with anything longer... I've downloaded book number 4 and will look forward with much anticipation to be scared out of my mind. Whoop!! Marc Layton's writing is fabulous! This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading. This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Paranormal investigator Aldous Crane is at it again in this third short story. Sadie has moved into her new home, one that is haunted. With a little research, Aldous will help her through what is terrifying her. Great characters in a page-turning paranormal read. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Good storyline great characters Not over-written with wordy explanations as if trying to write an investigators training manual. I liked the flow of information and realizations by the well developed characters. Looking forward to next book based on the author's intro. Oh, this was a great story! I loved the idea behind it, and the mirror doll-houses up in the attic. And I have nothing to say against Aldous this time. He was truly nice, even to Tammy :P A great set of short stories, I can't wait for the next. Oh, this was a great story! I loved the idea behind it, and the mirror doll-houses up in the attic.
