When I was a bit younger, I really enjoyed this series, but I have now outgrown it. It's hard to get to know the characters other than Max, because there are so many CMI kids, and they don't get developed very much. *THE NEXT PART OF THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES (Especially #3).* I didn't love the time travel aspect in the book, but if I was into the time travel thing, I would have liked the ending better. I feel the time travel thing was thrown in as a "last resort" theme, almost as if the authors didn't know where to go in the series and they wrote, "They all ran away", only this time, "She time traveled from 1921". (One spoiler from this book, now.) I was also bummed that Ben had to close the CMI. *SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW ARE OVER, THE REST IS SPOILER-FREE.* I wish the authors had done more with Dr. Ivanovich, kept him in some books following this one, which maybe they will. The whole book was rather climate change doom and gloom, which after a while can get you feeling a bit hopeless. Stopping climate change is definitely something we need to do, and there is still hope. The book does have a good message about stopping global warming, but I would've done a bit less doom and gloom with it, though. I wish there had been a bit more action, and a bit more good guys stopping the bad guys sort of thing, like there was in the other books. One thing about the series is that you barely find out anything about the villains or Max's past in the first two books, and in the third book it's all thrown at you. Similar in this book, as far as not finding out a ton goes. Definitely the first two books in the series where my favorites, and these books are great for younger ages. The authors are awesome and have some really good books, I just wish they had done a bit different of a plot for this book. Great messages in this book and the other books in the series about helping people across the globe and the importance of stopping global warming.

Fourth book in the series. Max and her team face a new enemy in this latest volume. After defeating the Corp, they should have been able to focus on world saving issues. Instead, the book opens with them being attacked as they track glacier melt with no idea who this new enemy is. Readers also see a change in philosophy as Ben brings in a Social Media influencer and an Arts whiz. Now, rather than staying out of the spotlight, Ben is pushing Max to be the brand spokesperson. She is not thrilled and it goes as series readers would expect. By the end, they have located the new angry coalition - with help from a hidden source and a former trainer wanting some redemption, and moved the world forward on climate change issues. This one moved a bit slower than the other three and got bogged down at times in the social media push.

I enjoyed the first three books in this series but this fourth one felt forced and disconnected from the main premise. The transitions felt somewhat abrupt and the main storyline was blurred. Character development was not nearly as good as it was previously. It was adequately written with a moderately interesting plot but this felt way beneath the standard of the series.
