3.5 stars This was one of those fluffy, feel good romances. It had all the tropes I adore: fake relationship/engagement, friends-to-lovers, one bed etc. Juniper and Tomas are best friends, but what they think about romance and love are very different. Juniper is a romance author who is an optimist about love, and is holding out for the real thing. Tomas is a divorce attorney who is cynical, and doesn’t put much stock in love. I love the flashback moments throughout the story (it’s one of my favorite things in childhood friends-to-lovers stories). The tension was great, and you really root for these two to get together-for real. I also thought the fairy godmothers were hilarious. I really enjoyed this story and I’m going to check out the other two books in this Fairy Godmothers, Inc series. Thank you Kensington Books and NetGalley for an advanced arc of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Four and a half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒ It Happened One Midnight by Saranna DeWylde is a delightful and engaging story about love. It has magic, and meddling fairy godmothers, and a magical small town full of quirky characters and charm. She wants to wait for the right guy, but her grandmothers (who are also fairy godmothers) have other ideas and want to find her a boyfriend as soon as possible. She wants to wait for the right guy, but her grandmothers (who are also fairy godmothers) have other ideas and want to find her a boyfriend as soon as possible. Juniper’s best friend is Tomas Rivera, a divorce attorney who has seen the worst of married life and does not believe in soulmates or a happily ever after. He doesn’t believe in love. When his law firm hints that his promotion is contingent on him settling down, he decides a fake engagement with his best friend Juniper will solve both their problems. Tomas agrees to travel to Ever After with Juniper to meet with the grandmothers to show them they are happy together. But, Ever After isn’t the typical small town, and the grandmothers are really fairy godmothers, so I just loved this magical, whimsical romance. The fairy godmothers are fun and provide a lot of humor in the book. Juniper and Tomas are a very likable couple and although it’s clear from the start that they are made for each other, it takes them both a bit of time to figure it all out. The book never lagged and I enjoyed every word. It Happened One Midnight is just pure fun. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a fun, and magical romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Saranna DeWylde’s third Fairy Godmothers, Inc. book has all the sugar and love-powered magic and mayhem I’ve come to expect from the series, but this is one novel that might have worked better as a novella. Juniper and Tomas have been best friends since childhood. Everything about how they act screams couple, and they acknowledge they love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together, but they’re not in love. Except with a little help from interfering…well, everybody…Tomas and Juniper start seeing each other in a new light. And once they recognize their mutual attraction it becomes a push-pull between giving into desire and standing firm on what they want. Juniper and Tomas’s problem is they want two different things. Juniper is a romance novelist who believes in love and happily ever after. Tomas is a divorce lawyer who doesn’t believe in true love or the aforementioned happily ever after. He doesn’t want he and Juniper to become like the broken couples he works with every day. Tomas doesn’t want to get married and Juniper does; both are valid. But everyone in their lives is pushing he and Juniper down the aisle; his bosses are even dangling a promotion in front of him if he gets married. The problem with this being a full-length novel is the longer things went on, the more it felt like Tomas was being bullied into love and marriage. Not wanting those things is perfectly valid and the pressure on him was so immense (especially when it came to his job) that it was uncomfortable. Yes, it’s clear he and Juniper are meant to be, and yes, he needed to come around to see all that she is to him, but it isn’t fun to see someone forced into it. The one saving grace was Juniper never pushed him to be other than he was. She was firm on what she believes and stood up for herself, but she also showed Tomas the respect of not invalidating what he believes. As a couple, Juniper and Tomas work well and are easy to root for. They have good chemistry, their love for one another is clear. They just needed a push to go to the next step – the push being mostly bringing their lustful feelings to the forefront. It’s easy to like Juniper and Tomas, though again, I felt bad for the latter because even the town (not the residents – the town itself) of Ever After seemed to go after him because he doesn’t believe in romantic love. The obstacles are drawn out and got a bit repetitive. However, I liked the main characters and ultimately Juniper and Tomas had a satisfying happily ever after that did feel like it worked for both characters. It Happened One Midnight is the third Fairy Godmothers, Inc. book and it can easily be read as a standalone. Juniper’s grandmothers, Petunia, Bluebonnet, and Jonquil, are as sugar-fueled and ready to interfere as ever. They’re a bit much for me at times, are a bit heavy-handed with the exposition, and their zaniness is just not my cup of tea, but that’s personal preference. Aside from the town wildlife targeting Tomas, the magical town of Ever After was as adorable as ever. I enjoy DeWylde’s spin on fairytales and it was fun to see all the popular romance tropes appear with characters who know and acknowledge those tropes. So, it's pretty safe to assume that I would fall magically in love with this book and the characters within it as well. In this, you will meet Juniper and Tomas. She is a romance author, living my dream, but she's currently holding out for the love of her life. As to who that actually is? Well, she has no idea but she's a very optimistic person. While that's happening, Tomas is like the Grinch who divorced love. If you guessed he's a divorce attorney - you'd be correct. He's also not the biggest fan of love. So, maybe he's like the Grinch and Squidward being combined into one person. These two are also best friends and it was quite easy to want them together. Or maybe I was just really stubborn and, in the mood, to do so. It's a problem most people would be okay with. So, when things started to take off, I couldn't help but be really happy for everyone involved. Plus, the fairy godmothers were hilarious and definitely made this book way more enjoyable. In the end, I devoured the heck out of this. I can't wait for the next book that she writes. Especially if it's another fairy tale kind of romance.

Is happily ever after possible for two people who aren’t on the same page when it comes to love? When the blurb had this much to do with fairytales, I thought it would be adorable. I mean, look at that cover! It is adorable. However, I feel scammed. I am scammed. All of the characters are flat. Their only personality is built on being horny. All of them. For example, for some reason, the mothers of our couple come to see their kids after hearing about the engagement. Tomas’ mother gives Juniper a family tradition kinda ring. And the moms do not leave the house until they kiss. HuH? Look at me in the eyes and tell me it’s normal. You cant. Because it isn’t normal. WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT. The plot is nonexistent. All that we read about is two childhood “best friends” getting horny. The character choices are so dumb. The whole “fake dating” trope was super forced. Who the fuck fake dates their childhood best friend for fun? It doesn’t add anything to the plot. It actually removed from it. It could be some kind of slow-burn or something? Not this, at least. As a reader who feels incomplete even dnfing the worst books in history, I hate myself for reading this. And it did have the smallest smallest potential which was wasted. My advice to the author is to focus more on character depth and plot, two of the most important elements of a novel, right? The reader’s smallest smile seeing this couple together is not enough to make a story good. After seeing the reviews of the author’s other book, I think she did not pay attention to what the readers think. The books seem to be the same, which raises the question, does the author want to improve?

Review: The Granddaughter of the GODMOTHER's is coming over to celebrate the Firefly festival with the town along with her sceptical friend. The GODMOTHERs are relentless with their wards so Juniper gets no special treatment and is caught up in the crossfire of their meddling. Juniper is an author who spins love into her books and her strong supporter is her best friend Tomas who's been her friend for so long that people often take them for couples. But when the meddling grandmas are trying to match her up she spins a lie and tells Tomas and herself are engaged and that's sets the storyline and you get to read the rest of it on 28th December 😉 As all of Saranna's books the characterization is amazing and she puts all her characters to good use!! The plotline though it's a friends to lovers troupe is unique in its own way and the writing style is witty and easy to understand yet has the depth of the language 💙 so to sum it up its an awesome book that's gonna be out during Christmas time wrapped in a humongous bow so get yourself a copy 😉

This is the 3rd book in a series set in the magical small town of Ever After, where three fairy godmothers have a wedding planning business. However, they are polar opposites in their beliefs about love: she's a romance novelist who truly believes in HEAs and he is a divorce attorney who has a strong belief in NOT believing. When the meddling of their families becomes annoying and being in a serious relationship becomes a contingency in Tomas' job for him to become a partner, they come up with the good ole fake dating ruse to buy them some peace and get Tomas his dream partnership. They set off to Ever After, where Juniper's grandmothers live, to attend Juniper's favorite event in the world: the fireflies ceremony held on Halloween. There will be a wedding/masque ball that they will attend as a couple. But Ever After is not a regular town, and the grandmothers are actually Fairy Godmothers. Animals behave in a peculiar way and things happen that make Juniper start to realize that things in her life have always had a touch of magic... but that, to Tomas, is just inadmissible.  The fake dating and  the forced proximity soon blur all the lines and deeper hidden feelings emerge. But they are still pretty much at polar opposites when it comes to views about love. Can there be a Happily Ever After  for them? I really wanted to love this book. It had everything I like in the synopsis, but, maybe because it's a third installment in a series, I was a little lost. Like Tomas, too much was expected of me in terms of believing and embracing the characters and plot. Maybe it's not the same for people who read the previous books. It's still a sweet and steamy friends to lovers romance, with the whimsical addition of the meddling fairy godmothers and of magic everywhere, but something was lacking for me.  Also, the whole book is just the two of them in a very loving tug of war about beliefs and Tomas is very firm in his, so is Juniper. I thought that the revelation of the existence of magic in the world and his acceptance of it was just too quick. It could have been done throughout the book. I might still read the first two because the idea of the town really intrigued me, like a modern day Brigadoon. So if this intrigues you too, maybe read the others first.

Okay, I don't remember reading any 'best friends to lovers' story before this book. This book started really well. It was funny and their friendship was so endearing that I didn't want them to get into a romantic relationship, but at the same time, I didn't want them to fall in love with someone else. I didn't find the fairy Godmothers' conversations interesting or funny (as it was supposed to, I guess). I didn't find that magical place intriguing. But my main problem was Tomas and Juniper's relationship. As I said their friendship was so endearing but their love has not been handled well. It was too forced. You can't see them fall in love but you see them 'trying' too hard. And the intimate scenes (almost erotic) was off putting, really. It was like, 'Okay, let's have sex.' Or 'Okay, I pleasured you, now it's your turn to pleasure me.' as if getting physical was the main purpose and their emotions had no role to play. And then I stopped feeling anything for them, I lost the connection with the protagonists, which I built in the beginning. When I started reading, I thought it could be one of my favourite reads this year, but I'm really disappointed.

The world building isn't as present in this book as the others, but if you've read the whole series, you already know what Ever After feels like so I didn't find that to be an issue for me. Thank you to Goodreads and the publisher for the chance to read a copy of this book! Actually in a few cases, I found the magic creepy and problematic when it's encouraging desire and sex--after their first encounter in a restaurant bathroom, the heroine even thinks something like "wow, that's so out of character for me" and I think we later find out the food was enchanted with aphrodisiacs. Even if I'm wrong and the point was supposed to be that the heroine has never been so attracted to someone to do something daring, I should NOT be reading a romance novel and wondering if the heroine was magically coerced into performing a sex act.

I’ll start my review by saying I have read the previous books in this series, and I enjoyed them, but this one is definitely the best one yet. Juniper and Tomas were just perfect for each other and while this book had plenty of funny moments none were ridiculously stupid, which happened a few times in the previous books. I just loved their honesty and their friendship. It was just the best romance foundation ever. And as much as the last dramatic conflict moments in romance book usually annoy me I’ll start my review by saying I have read the previous books in this series, and I enjoyed them, but this one is definitely the best one yet. This was a cute read about Juniper and Tomas who have been friends since childhood. They make a pact to get married when they turn 34 if they haven't met their one true love. Juniper is a romance author and Tomas is a divorce lawyer. She believes in love but him not so much. Add magic and three fairy godmothers and the story gets interesting. I received an ARC of this book through Goodreads. Overall, I really enjoyed Juniper and Tomas’s love story! I read the first book in this series (this is #3) and found this one to be more enjoyable. The first spent a lot of time in the world building of the ridiculous antics of Ever After and it’s inhabitants that the romance between the two leads was a bit forced. This one we got to really focus on the two and explore more nuances in their relationship.

It Happened One Midnight is a magical romantic comedy about best friends since childhood who pretend to date to solve several different problems. Of course, nothing goes as planned. I may or may not have called him a moron. Several times. But I really liked how the story unfolded and the easy chemistry between the two of them. I'm not quite sure how I felt about the magical elements, but they were all important to the plot so do yourself a favor just go with it. The Fairy Godmothers were very entertaining, and I enjoyed several of the secondary characters as well. The ending fell a little flat for me, but it was still okay. I just found myself wanting something a little bigger or with more of an emotional punch. Overall it was a very fun read that I sped through in less than two days. Definitely recommend if you love romantic comedies and don't mind some whimsical magic. Thank you to NetGalley for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are 100% my own.

I want to thank Kensington Books and NetGalley for this eARC. I received this copy in exchange for a fair and honest review. Very rarely that I thought I needed to read the prequels to understand the context but it did not affect the story or my experience. ~ It was such a whimsical, lovey-dovey, breezy, and angsty read especially for a heavy fantasy reader like me. ~ Each chapter of this book was from either Juniper's POV or Tom's POV that gave you the full picture of the situation which I really like. ~ This book was very tropey with the marriage of convenience/fake engagement trope, miscommunication trope, one-bed trope, and friends-to-lovers trope. ~ Even though I enjoyed the story and it was also very cliche-y that it reminded me of Hallmark movies (Don't get me wrong I love Hallmark movies) like you do not believe in love but finally that person makes you believe in Love or if you want a promotion you need to have a relationship. I can name soo many Hallmark movies with this plot. ~ This book had soo much s3xual tension I tell you. Sometimes it was just a bit too much. Also, one kiss and they start getting feelings of wanting to ravish each other. Oh Please! That wasn't very convincing. ~ Soo many resemblances of fairytales with similar characters and events, like a cross of Snow White, sleeping beauty, cinderella, and many more. There was this one scene that reminded me of Harry Potter's vanishing room. ~ Fav Quote: Follow your heart. Have faith in yourself. Even when it's scary. If this doesn't work out the way you wanted it to, the way we all want it to, then make peace with the fact that it's what's best for you both. My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5 Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶

I will preface this review by saying that I won a copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway, and I did not read the other books in this series. I gave this book three stars as I really liked the main characters and their relationship. I also love friends to lovers trope. I thought the balance of plot to steamy scenes was balanced appropriately. Some books have just steamy scenes and very little plot, or terrible characters, and some books don't have enough steamy scenes. I thought this book I will preface this review by saying that I won a copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway, and I did not read the other books in this series. I thought the balance of plot to steamy scenes was balanced appropriately. Some books have just steamy scenes and very little plot, or terrible characters, and some books don't have enough steamy scenes. I thought this book was pretty balanced. That being said, this book left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I wanted to know more about the town of Ever After. Maybe that would be explained more in some of the other books. I also wanted to know why the book is called It Happened One Midnight? Nothing happened at midnight, or at least the book didn't make a big deal about something happening at midnight, so I am not sure where that time came from. The writing style was a bit scattered. I feel like the author overly explained things that didn't really need that much explaining and brushed aside things I wanted to know more about, which sometimes made the scenes and conversations, especially between the grandmothers, hard to follow. Again, perhaps there is more explanation of those things in the other books, like learning more about the grandmothers. I was getting quite frustrated at Tomas who clearly loved Juniper and took WAY too long to finally realize that. I kept wanting to yell at him, so I guess I understand when the grandmothers got frustrated with him as well. The constant meddling by the grandmothers and the two characters' mothers was also quite annoying, but I guess there wouldn't be much of a book without that fact, considering the two main characters fake an engagement to get the grandmothers and mothers off their backs, and that is the major plot in the story. There also seemed to be some unresolved things, like the grandmother's relationship with Rumplestiltskin (who they had funny names for, but they needed to just pick one; the nick names kept changing throughout the book), and the fact that Juniper kept wanting to meddle in the grandmothers lives, but never did. I am not sure if all that was setting up another book or if the relationship with Rumplestiltskin was explained in previous books, but it was confusing and left me with questions. Overall it was a cute read and I liked the town a lot. But the writing style left me confused at times so I probably won't be picking up more of this author's books.
