Is it ever too late to leave the friend-zone? Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want Is it ever too late to leave the friend-zone? Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want is for things to get weird between us. Nothing but good old-fashioned, no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive, platonic friendship for us! Everything is exactly how I like it! Yes. Good. (I’m not crying, I’m just peeling an onion.) Our friendship is going swimmingly until I accidentally spill my beans to a reporter over too much tequila, and now the world seems to think me and Nathan belong together. Oh, and did I mention we have to date publicly for three weeks until after the Super Bowl because we signed a contract with...oops, forgot I can’t tell anyone about that! Bottom line is, now my best friend is smudging all the lines and acting very un-platonic, and I’m just trying to keep my body from bursting into flames every time he touches me. How am I going to make it through three weeks of fake dating Nathan without anything changing between us? Especially when it almost-sort-a-kinda seems like he’s fighting for a completely different outcome? Send help. XO Bree Buckle up for a slow burn, sports romance with combustible chemistry from the first chapter, laugh-out-loud humor, and easy to love characters. The Cheat Sheet has all the sizzle, but no on-page explicit content (PG-13 equivalent for mild language, implied sexual situations, and alcohol use).

“Well, magic eight ball, what do you think? Should I tell my best friend I love her?” ⇢The Plot This book was incredibly cute. The majority of the plot revolved around the love interest Nathan trying to get his best friend Bree to fall in love with him using a cheat sheet that he and his friends created, and I think that alone indicates the fluff that you’re in for. Was I annoyed at times because these two had been in love for YEARS and neither of them noticed? YES. But it was also pretty “Well, magic eight ball, what do you think? Was I annoyed at times because these two had been in love for YEARS and neither of them noticed? YES. But it was also pretty sweet so I won’t complain. ⇢Bree and Nathan I was honestly surprised by how likeable both of these characters were, particularly Nathan. I mean, he was a football player and football players in books usually fit into a bunch of stereotypes, which he didn’t at all. And I’m here for it. Bree was a little less unique but her personality was hilarious and eccentric so she was pretty cool too. And as a couple they were pretty great. This book was surprisingly slow burn which I really liked, but there was a bunch of romance when they were fake dating to make up for that! Overall, they were a really cute couple even if at times some aspects of their relationship seemed random. “That’s…bad? I thought we wanted paparazzi to see us being coupley?” When Nathan’s voice reaches me, low and quiet, I almost think I’ve heard him wrong. “Yeah, but that was when it was just fake.”
 ⇢The Side Characters I have no idea if this book is going to be the first in a series but the side characters were super interesting! I would definitely read a book about Nathan’s teammates. . ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ❦ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ . MY LINKTREE ❦

So this book has everything I love friends-to-lovers and fake dating trope but this was so boring to me. Sure story is pure fluff but there is barely any conflict or plot to make to more engaging. It’s very much Sarah Adams book and if you liked her previous books you will like this as well.

BITCH. you only pull that card unless 1. youre stupid 2. you genuinely dont like them and want to friendzone which clearly she doesnt want to friendzone him BECAUSE SHE’S FUCKING IN LOVE WITH HIM? so what in the actual pick me is this fucking book... also i just thought of something I HATE WHEN THE CHARACTERS HAVE THESE FUCKING MORALS WHERE ITS LIKE "OH I DONT WANNA TAKE YOUR MONEY" like yes, in some cases thats fine but this man is rich as fcuk like take his money. if you wont i fucking will the first half of this book was good. so addictive. i was honestly hooked. the second half?? bitch i wanted to claw my eyes out and sell my soul to satan like what the actual fuck. they kept “questioning” their feelings WHEN ITS FUCKING CLEAR AS DAY that they like each other?? this book was the biggest drag in history.. i wouldnt even call it sexual tension because its a fucking PG 13+ book like what part of that screams ”hot spicy sexual tension”?? exactly. none. of. it. PLOT ˎˊ˗ 2 besties, bree camden and nathan donelson. theyve been besties for 6 years and for the whole fucking six years theyve been in love with each other. surprised?? fuck no. bree is a ballet teacher and nathan is a star football player. theres a bit of fake dating (not the fun, hot fake dating tho) and then bam love. marriage. the end. the plot?? basic asf. it was still fun to read but it wasnt anything that was interesting lol also this may be a spoiler but its so bad that im just gonna say it: who gets fucking married after a week of dating i dont fucking care you knew each other for 6 years like no. just no. ROMANCE ˎˊ˗ there’s obviously no smut in this book cause duh PG 13+ ring any bells?? they were cute. there was kissing. VERY INNOCENT KISSING. ummm yeah idk 90% of this book is ”what they want with each other” but its all talk, no action like chop chop get together already?? honestly, maybe smut wouldve redeemed this book because it had potential and if youre gonna write a slow burn with a pretty basic plot and an annoying female mc at least give the readers the sex?? their romance was also a little.. cringe towards the end. it just got all lovey dovey and i was just like… what the fuck go back to being best friends also a big BIG no no to public proposals id rather die and also i would hate to not be able to plan MY OWN WEDDING but everyone is different ig… *sigh* !! SPOILERS?? even tho i think ive said a lot already so whatever read on i guess !! bree camden : ⤷ just a no for me. who let her exist. no.. thats mean but just huh?? WHAT IN THE PICK ME GIRL IS THIS im sorry but was she not saying how ”she was being friend zoned” at the beginning of the book?? SHE WAS THE ONE DOING ALL THE FRIEND ZONING. THAT. WAS. ALL. HER. literally losing braincells atm just give me a fat second fhajkfkskfofowofoslfkvkekkekgkskekgkdlk kfkgkskkfkfkwkflglfleldkdkskkdvkkfkskdkfkflsldlvlfkdkekkgkvkdlelfkglfllwldlglflele im calm :) theres just SO MANY windows she could’ve taken but SHE DIDNT TAKE IT and half the time ran away?? nathan donelson : ⤷ cute turned into cringe sigh i liked him. didnt love him or hate him so… yeah. he was a good character UNTIL THE END where the love confessions came out and it was just… gross idc about love confessions but ive read enough to know what a ”not so cringe kinda cute” confession should be. maybe im picky. maybe im judgemental but not gonna change my mind he’s also THE BIGGEST SIMP which is ok i guess..?? he is so whipped for her tho like its fucking clear as day lmao and yet bree cant see it?? brb while i go lose more braincells CONCLUSION ˎˊ˗ people hyped this book a bit too much because its really not that amazing. its average. its basic. yes, its addictive but like all in all, go pick up a smutty book and just read that instead. ok bye <3

I was expecting a lot from this book and it didn't deliver. I was so so so excited to read it and then I started it...and now I can't even finish it. The problem is, most likely, my super high expectations. This was supposed to be amazing, a new favourite, something I'd recommended to people over and over again...I'm disappointed. The biggest issue I have is how the ballerina and football player roles tie into this. It's sort of like a background thing, they could be doing completely different job I was expecting a lot from this book and it didn't deliver. The biggest issue I have is how the ballerina and football player roles tie into this. It's sort of like a background thing, they could be doing completely different jobs and it wouldn't make a difference. Their careers were what made me want to read this so bad in the first place, so I wish it was executed better. Then there's the two leads themselves. I don't particularly like either of them, but Bree is a whole different level of dislike. It's clear from the starting scenes that she's immature which is okay, she's not an adult adult, she's still young, but as the book goes on this starts to get annoying. I have a special place reserved for drunk Bree, that's her at her worst by far. It's not cute, it's just sad. It's commendable that she wants to provide dance classes to those who can't afford them, but something about that felt forced. I can't explain how exactly, it just didn't feel natural. I'm mostly talking about the dance class scenes. As a dancer myself I might be biased, sure, but that wasn't it. Nathan...I barely have anything to say about him. He's nice and does things for other people, and it feels less forced than Bree's good deeds and yet...meh? Seeing into his head isn't all that interesting either. The side characters are really something. Nathan's teammates were cool in some parts and cringy in others. I think I still like them better than Bree and Nathan overall. The book is mostly fluff which is a point in its favour. If it had more angst I would've quit reading a lot earlier. The writing is one thing I don't have faults with. There's nothing wrong with it. Finally, this is not a bad book, but it wasn't my cup of tea. I'm giving it 2.5 stars rounded down.

I literally couldn’t care less. that being said, I did really enjoy this. it’s classified as a “sports romance” but without too much of the sports aspect to it, which I found pretty refreshing. it’s fast pace, fun to read and has some sexual tension sprinkled in between. what else do you need?

Best friends to lovers is my all-time favorite trope, but this was so boring, and the angst was nonexistent. Nothing really happened for most of the book, and I ended up skimming through pretty much the entire second half of it. Some moments between Bree and Nathan were actually cute, but they quickly became cringy and childish, as did most of the dialogue. I'll probably stop reading this author's work because I've felt the same way about her previous releases, and if a best friends to lovers ro Best friends to lovers is my all-time favorite trope, but this was so boring, and the angst was nonexistent. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. where do i even begin with this? one, the plot, it was a mess like it starts off with them as friends and they somehow end up married by the end of the book (it takes place over like 4 weeks??). it reminds me of that one movie baby’s day out where this rich baby is kidnapped by these men who have no idea how to keep track of a kid and so the kid goes literally everywhere and ends up at some construction site at some point. and like the plot makes no sense but it starts where it’s supposed to and where do i even begin with this? one, the plot, it was a mess like it starts off with them as friends and they somehow end up married by the end of the book (it takes place over like 4 weeks??). it reminds me of that one movie baby’s day out where this rich baby is kidnapped by these men who have no idea how to keep track of a kid and so the kid goes literally everywhere and ends up at some construction site at some point. and like the plot makes no sense but it starts where it’s supposed to and it ends where it’s supposed to so you can’t really fault it for that. but for this book i will 100% complain about it because it makes no sense like i read this book yesterday and if you asked me to describe any of what happened today, after ive finished the book, i don’t think i could do that. two, the main character, i just didn’t like bree in the beginning. like don’t get me wrong she gets better and definitely has her moments but i just couldn’t stand her in the first few chapters. she was literally a pick me but he did pick her so🧍‍♀️ three, the fucking miscommunication BECAUSE THEYRE SO DUMB HE LITERALLY TELLS HER THAT HES FLIRTING WITH HER?? THEIR DIALOGUE QUITE LITERALLY GOES “are you flirting with me🤨” “yes☺️” AND RHIS 7MARA DECIDES TO JUST WALK AWAY?? four, the dialogue just didn’t make it feel like they were adults. like the lines with nathan and his team could have just as easily been used in a conversation from high schoolers and it would not change a thing. the side characters were just really flat and were only there to yell at nathan and bree for being morons. also you’ve got the rich x poor trope where rich person is like “you know i can buy you something i really don’t mind” and the reply is “no but ill feel bad🙁” like just take the car and leave. rip bree and her morals i don’t have any so if anyone ever wants to buy me a car i won’t mind. i feel like the worst part is that i actually was looking forward to it because the tropes seemed cute but i just couldn’t deal with the writing. i don’t think this is a book i would recommend to anyone but if i saw someone pick it up i don’t think i would warn them so ig it’s not absolutely irredeemable. there were definitely parts of this book that made me smile so hard my face hurt but it was overshadowed by the sheer amount of garbage also in this book.

(i think i have been saying this with her last three books, but well, they get better and better!). so, this is a slowburn with capital s. the build up starts happening since page one, and i swear, it never stops. there’s always tension, longing, you will want to put them together in a locked room and wait until it all explodes. their friendship is sweet and it feels very real, and even though i was dying for them to talk about their feelings, i loved everything that leads to the romance. the end of the book was the absolute sweetest thing that could have happened, and i was smiling so hard my cheeks started hurting. something else i have to mention is that even though the romance is closed door, i totally consider this book steamy. the intensity of certain conversations, moments and touches definitely give the best steamy vibes, and i love this aspect about sarah’s closed door romances. i noticed it in the temporary roomie, and it was obvious in this one. there’s no need of explicit scenes for a steamy atmosphere, and this book is proof of it. you will feel it, believe me, and this comes from a person that mostly reads open door romances. finally, i want to say how much i appreciate that anxiety and panic attacks were a part of the story. sometimes we don’t know how much we’re carrying on our backs until the last drop makes us snap, and this is also a way of experiencing anxiety. we don’t always feel bad, but it’s there, and it matters. so, this is your friendly reminder to always take a break, even if you don’t think you need it. another book to treasure in my heart by sarah! out august 17th! <3

Not gonna lie, the slow burn killed me, I couldn't wait for them to admit their feelings for each other. And the fake dating which was so not fake, I wanted to jump in to the book and scream JUST ADMIT IT, YOU BOTH LOVE EACH OTHER but it was worth the wait because the panic attack confession, that was just amazing and they way Bree calmed him down and all. THEY'RE JUST ADORABLE. Moving on to my favorite parts, spoilers ahead!! 🔅 “You mean when you said you wished you could use a Tide pen to wipe all the other women out of my life?” Drunk Bree is the best Bree! She's so adorable when she's drunk and she wanted to wipe out all the women with a tide pen so she could date Nathan. I can never get over this. 🔅 “It doesn’t look like nothing. What? Are you guys drawing boobies on that board or something? You look so guilty.” “Ah—you caught us! Lots of illustrated boobs drawn on that board. You don’t want to see it.” THE ROMANCE CHEAT SHEET. Jamal, Derek, Lawrence and Price are AMAZING. Nathan friends who helped him with his love life. I love their friends and they all love Bree. And them changing 'hello, it's me' to 'hello, it's Bree' i was grinning. THIS FRIENDSHIP. With the six of them is what I want and ofc Bree and Nathans too. 🔅 “Bree, I want everything with you right now more than anything, but… dammit. I can’t believe I’m going to say this. I think we should wait.” Ok but this part. Just how amazing is Nathan Donelson. HE WANTED TO WAIT TILL THEY GET MARRIED TO HAVE SEX. Sarah Adams better be telling me where I can get a guy like this form. He helps Bree by paying her rent and then buys the whole building too and then says that he wants to wants to have sex only after the get married because Bree is different, I'm gonna cry. 🥺🤧 🔅 “I will cherish you until my last breath.” His beautiful lovely wife. AHH. They got MARRIED. Their wedding, was PERFECTION. Nathan is the BEST man out there, don't you dare argue with me. 🔅 AND DYLAN, he's the sweetest and Bree's second favorite man. I just love him. AND and Bree's sister, Lily. I love love their relationship. I don't have a sister but if I did I want us to be like Lily and Bree. How could I forget Mrs. Donelson, she was a bitch. I hated her in the start but I don't know what magic Lily did but she changed her, she turned nice. 🔅 “So you forgive me?” he asks against my skin. “Yes, but only on the condition that you apply the same amount of dedication to romance for the rest of our marriage.” He gets a devious spark in his eyes when he responds, “Deal.” And THE CHEAT SHEET ONCE AGAIN. Nathan telling Bree about the cheat because he felt bad, just how much more sweeter can this guy get?? I didn't expect Bree to get angry at the cheat sheet and guess what? She didn't. Bree doesn't snap and we all know that. She wanted Nathan to have the same dedication throughput the marriage, I'm gonna cry again. BYE. “Your soul is my favorite in this entire world.” I LOVED this book bc it had me smiling from the start and my cheeks hurt so much right now. Bree and Nathan were worth my time!!

They spend a lot of time together being ‘best friends’ and, surprise surprise, they’re secretly in love with each other. This comes to the test when they have to fake date. Their story was the definition of CUTE! I really enjoyed reading about them because you can really see how much they truly care for each other. You can also see their love language as their story progresses which I thought was really cool. Through out this entire book, they just kept questioning whether or not the other person had feelings for them and it was just so rewarding when they FINALLY confessed their feelings. Nathan is the cutest ever and I am a Breen stan! They’re just really likable characters, so it’s really easy to root for their relationship. Not a lot of drama, just super simple and fun! I just wish we got more tension in the book because they were scenes that would’ve been perfect with a little added spice, so if ur a reader who wants spice this isn’t for you! I personally don’t need spice in every book I read. Another factor I really like was that I loved some of the side characters (nathans teammates, bree’s sister lily, Dylan). I thought they made the story more enjoyable throughout! Over a really quick and cute and fun read that will have you happy and smiling!

    — DNFED. this was my first sarah adams book, and it will also be my last because jesus christ what was this? you know what, maybe i would've given it an extra star if there smut in it. and like, i know it's a YA book so obviously there won't be any adult content, but i mean if your book is this underwhelming then maybe make it NA to give us SOMETHING 🤨 i gave this 2 stars because there were some moments (like bree with her students) that i enjoyed. but that's literally it. THE INFO DUMPS IN THIS BOOK OH MY GOD? i'm not exaggerating when i say i'd learned the ENTIRE backstories of BOTH the characters as well as their history with each other by CHAPTER THREE. so tell me why i should even continue the book when there's literally nothing left for me to find out? when there's no tension left? however, i STILL gave this book the benefit of the doubt after seeing how much booktwt and my tl had hyped it up. the female mc was weirdly possessive (right from chp1 btw) and the textbook definition of a pick me "i'm friends with the guy and you're just his plaything" girl. like holy shit if i was one of nathan's gfs i would've knocked bree out. #justice4kelsey🙌 the biggest reason i'm so mad that i didn't like this is that best friends to lovers is my favourite trope. like it's The Trope for me and i was SO excited for this because the premise sounded so good :/ and maybe further on in the book things got better, maybe there was actual chemistry, and from what i've heard side characters and dynamics that were actually good. but if the start of your book is this bad, i'm not gonna sit around and wait for it to get better, sorry.

Nathan and Bree have been best friends since high school, always close but never willing to go one step further and ruin what they have thus far, but after a few tequila shots, an undercover gossip reporter, and a leaked tape, they might get their first shot at something else... it may be pretending for the cameras and fans at first, but who knows where this could end? I dare you to recommend me a cuter book than this one, I DARE YOU!!! If I'm honest I ended up dnf-ing the last two books by this author and I wasn't so sure about this one, but if I hear best friends to lovers trope then I'll be there, no questions asked. I enjoyed most of it, Nathan and Bree were cute and fun together, but this was a little slowburn in terms of confessing their true feelings so I was like "ALREADY KISS, YOU FOOLS!" yep, patience is my best trait 🤗 As for the rating and why not something higher, I still have the same issues with her female leads. The males are always charming, dreamy and swoon-worthy, but for some reason the girls go from likeable to cartoon characters in like a second, with these hysterical thoughts and silly and immature attitudes and humor, and sometimes I end up forgetting that I'm reading about adults here. I can enjoy this kind of humor, but not for a whole book (or 5, for what matters), at some point it starts to feel too forced. Also, why is always the woman the one in a distressing situation? starting over, with an odd job that not everyone approves of, not making enough money, etc., while the man gets the money, the best job, the fame and the recognition, and is always ready to slip in and save the day? let's twist things a bit! I'm kinda done with this subplot 🤕 Now I'm gonna open my heart here and confess that chapter 31 completely DESTROYED me, I shed some tears and all because Nathan's "little" detail was something really cute and basically the happy ending that they deserved, but these guys really took their sweet time to turn their brains on and start using them. Anyway, now I'm wondering if those football players friends of Nathan have any stories to tell, or if this is just a standalone?

453 dramatic eyerolls + 234 moments when i cringed to death + 123 times when I screamed cliche! + a few half smiles, I'm done with this book. FINALLY. 3 Stars The mental health rep was probably the only reason why I did not dnf this book at 95%. Yes, it got so boring in the end that I just couldn't finish it but I did ( I have to finish my reading challenge y'all! but i'm not going to torment myself anymore by reading cheesy romances which bore me to death) 453 dramatic eyerolls + 234 moments when i cringed to death + 123 times when I screamed cliche! + a few half smiles, I'm done with this book. They start fake dating and these is the part where everything changes and question start to arise "what if?". You will laugh out loud, you're face will hurt from smiling so big and you will feel their feelings. Bree is so funny and Nathan is such a sweetheart. They really are perfect for each other. They're each other anchor, safe space and they always put the other first. We should all thank Sarah Adams for writing this perfect best friends to lovers + fake dating story, she never disappoints.

At this point of my reading life this is where I officially say that I'm tired of romcoms (there's nothing new to be read anyway) and cute books. They are dead to me. Honestly there was nothing terrible in this story but was sooooo boring that I wished this was one of those horribly written but entertained books, it was NOT. IT WAS BORING. BORING. BORING. BORING. BORING. The silly humor made me roll my eyes every time, the heroine is a cliche pick me girl and the hero didn't want to have sex with her before they married, AND THEY ONLY GET TOGETHER ABOUT 85% OF THE BOOK. Here is a quote from this pick me boring and not-like-other-girls girl, which can make anyone cringe, where she is referring to why the hot football guys liked her so much: These men could all squash me between their thumb and forefinger, but they are all softies who honest-to-goodness treat me like their queen. They would carry me around on a chair lifted above their shoulders if I let them. I have no idea why—probably because I’m that girl who doesn’t have an ounce of threat in my five-foot-four body. To these guys (Nathan included), I’m just Bree Cheese, the fun-loving, curly-haired girl everyone loves with the dance studio above the pizza parlor. Please, I can't imagine a grown ass woman being like that. Ps: I wish we could go back to the simplest times when authors wrote about sexy manwhore athletes.
