"And as he kissed her, she finally believed." Trying to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, but I absolutely loved it. I always choose a few Christmas-themed books to read every year. Sometimes they make me smile, sometimes they make me cry, sometimes both (!) and sometimes... they're written by Kate Meader and they make me wonder where I can find a guy like Erik Jorgenson. Seriously, anyone? Erik is the Swedish goalie of the Rookie Rebels, and an all around nice guy. Casey is Harper's (i.e., the boss') personal assistant. He has his sights set on her, but she doesn't give him the time of day. She's amazing to everyone, but not to him, and it doesn't make sense. What did he ever do to her, anyway? He's bound to find out after the elevator they're in together malfunctions and stops, and after an interesting Christmas party. "There was something oddly fated about this moment, the weight of it. The weight of him." As you may have guessed it, I loved Erik, but I also loved Casey. He's a total sweetheart, with a huge heart, and so trustworthy. She has some baggage, and she's dealing with it, but she's a strong gal. They have very strong chemistry, but it's more than that: it's a real connection. While this is a novella, there is full character development, so you get to know them well. And you fall in love with both of them. The Christmas vibe is strong and heartwarming. Erik's Swedish Christmas traditions were the cutest thing. I love being immersed in other cultures, and the attention to detail on this was pretty much incredible. "Thanks for being my home." Rebel Yule is the perfect book to get you in the holiday mood. It has a pinch of friendship, a dash of sweetness, a sprinkling of sexy, and a whole lot of heart.

Happy dance! I’ve really enjoyed the Rookie Rebels series and have known and wanted goalie Erik “Fish” Jorgenson’s story for a while now and I’m happy to report we finally got it in this cute and sexy holiday romance novella. Erik is such a great guy, he’s a loyal teammate and friend, a loving son and brother and he truly wants to find someone to share his life with and he know exactly who he wants in his future. The only problem is that Casey Higgins, his team’s owner’s personal assistant, dislikes him with a passion and he doesn’t even know why. A malfunctioning elevator and a dark closet at a holiday party might put him on the right track. Casey and Erick are so cute and sweet together. I really loved Erik. He’s a family man, caring and adorably charming, bossy sexy side who really sees Casey through her prickly exterior. And Casey is independent and wonderful and we understand her hesitancy. The chemistry between is hot and despite this being a novella the character and plot development is well done. We get to have past and hopefully future Rebels inject their personalities into the story and the beautiful Swedish holiday traditions that were described added the final touch to this lovely holiday read. Oh, my heart! Erik Jorgenson - in all his sweet, sexy, Swedishness - just straight-up stole it, and I’m not even mad. I mean, let’s be real, I didn’t even fight him. As a loyal fan of the Rookie Rebels series, I was primed for Erik and Casey’s story. Erik is no stranger in Kate Meader’s hockey stories, and so with the glimpses and snippets I’d been given of him and Casey in previous stories my heart was already half on board and ready to ship them. Erik is no stranger in Kate Meader’s hockey stories, and so with the glimpses and snippets I’d been given of him and Casey in previous stories my heart was already half on board and ready to ship them. That said, I loved that things didn’t play out quite as I might have expected them to. I loved the little emotional twist that explained most of the bumps in the road of their relationship, and the sweet way they moved past it. This is a novella, so things did move pretty quickly – but because I went in primed, it didn’t feel like it was too quick. In fact, it felt like a perfect holiday fantasy. It was filled with cozy scenes and lots of Christmas (my favorite!) cheer. Add in an adorably sexy hero who sometimes came off as bumbling, but always came off as genuine and earnest – plus a strong, but wounded heroine whose warm personality and great big heart seemed a perfect fit for the swoony Swede - and, yall? I gobbled the whole story up like it was a Jorgenson delicacy at a Julafton feast. That is to say, I loved it. I loved the chemistry between Erik and Casey that flared into some decidedly scorching moments between them. I loved the tenderness that bloomed as they opened their hearts to each other. And I loved, loved, loved the super satisfying happily ever after they were given. Rebel Yule was the perfect holiday gift for my heart, and a delectable sweet treat in the Rebels-verse. You definitely don't want to tempt Tomte’s revenge by skipping out on this wonderful romantic escape! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars *** Rebel Yule is a fun, smart, sweet holiday romance with enough naughtiness Santa should triple-check the Nice list this year! Good guy, Erik “Fish” Jorgenson, is bound and determined to figure out why Casey Higgins hates him. He’s so likeable and kind and good, he just doesn’t understand what’s Casey’s deal. She’s nice to everyone else but him. Erik wants to make things right, wants to find a way to at least be friends—though he’d prefer to be much more than friends with the gorgeous, sexy, smart woman who haunts his dreams. Oh, Casey’s harboring some seriously pent-up disgust for Erik all right . . . not that she’s ever shared the full story and details with anyone even remotely related to the Rebels. Nope, that’s her story to tell, her secret she’ll carry to the grave. If Erik doesn’t know what he did, then that’s his problem not hers. Doesn’t matter one iota that Erik is her ultimate fantasy dream man. Nope, not one bit . . . Until the holiday party which seems like the right time, right place to figure it all out and get some answers from them both—while getting busy in the coat closet. *wink emoji, smirk emoji, wink emoji* Good golly, I’m surprised the heat from the attraction between Erik and Casey didn’t melt my Kindle. There was so much going on between these two and their unspoken body language. They both have some ghosts from their past relationships that drive their current situations—and these ghosts definitely need to be banished. But I knew that when they sorted out their stuff they’d be electric. I loved the heat and humor of this fantastic enemies-to-lovers romance. Loved the balance between witty snarky banner and heartfelt honesty and baring of emotions. I have loved the snippets of Erik stories in the other Rebel-verse books and was so happy that he too got his happily ever after. ~ Missy, 5 stars

I’ve been a fan of Kate’s work for a long time. Some have won me over more than others, and this series started out rocky for me, but I’ve always come back to her because the outstanding has always out measured the rocky and she writes a damn good sports series, every single time :) Rebel Yule was refreshing for me. I was actually a little stunned that no plot point was left hanging because this is a novella and that can happen easily. See, another reason I love Kate! LOL I would say if you’re new to Kate’s writing, this is a perfectly good story to start with and it will hook you to her, butif you want to fully understand the team dynamic and secondary characters, you should probably start at the beginning. Cute, short story about Rebel's Swedish goalie Erik and the Rebels front office employee he met and had a hot, one night stand with 7 years ago (Casey) who re enters his life. Why is he instantly attracted to her...and why doesn't he remember her face? Erik was a real sweetheart in this one. It was great to see the Rebel teammates again as they join Erik and Casey in celebrating the holidays.

This sweetheart of a hero deserved a better story, I'm afraid. I love a good holiday novella to get me in the festive spirit, and this quick, steamy story had the potential to do that. It's a sweet treat for fans of the series, a fast-paced peek at how everyone is doing around the holidays, paired with a second chance romance that heats up right away. It's a sweet treat for fans of the series, a fast-paced peek at how everyone is doing around the holidays, paired with a second chance romance that heats up right away. There are some fun moments with the team, and our hero is kinda adorable - I would've loved a full-length story with Erik... though perhaps with a different heroine. While Casey is nice enough, she put a lot of blame on Erik for something that she definitely played a role in. And speaking of their troubled history, the deja vu left a sour taste in my mouth - one of the other popular hockey romance series features a book literally titled "Erik" that has a pretty similar backstory. Too similar to be a coincidence, I would think. But the two books play out very differently, so I was able to forgive that after awhile. All in all, this certainly won't go down as my favorite in the series, but it's a sexy, easy read. The story follows Erik, a pro hockey player who has terrible luck with women. While a lot of his teammates are players on and off the ice, Erik doesn't attract the same kind of attention. Erik has been crushing on the new girl at work for awhile now, but Casey seems to seriously dislike him - and he doesn't know why. They finally get everything out in the open just in time for the holidays, and it changes everything between them. Now Erik at least knows where he went wrong, and he can work towards fixing it. But Casey isn't willing to open up her heart a second time, and that means Erik has his work cut out for him. It's entirely likely that I would've enjoyed this more had that sense of deja vu not kicked in - it's just the kind of quick, festive read that I love to devour around the holidays. Things stay relatively light and sexy throughout, with an instalove vibe and plenty of steam. There's definitely way too much drama for such a short novella, with miscommunication, second chances, an outraged heroine, health conditions, ex drama, and more packed into a quick read. Erik is really the best part - I love that he's not a playboy, and is just a genuinely nice guy. Overall, this isn't a standout love story for me, but it makes a fun read for the holidays. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this Christmas novella.

Erik was absolutely adorable! His mouth may run away with him at times, but his endearing personality was just too cute! His love of Christmas and family traditions was also quite lovable and I really loved how he tried to win Casey over and get to the root of the problem she seemed to have with him. Words cannot express how much I loved Rebel Yule. There was so much goodness and light to this story; it was a perfect low angst, holiday romance. This is Kate Meader at her finest! Years ago he connected with someone but too much to drink, a lot number, and he’d never found her again despite trying. For the last year he’s tried to connect with his boss’s assistant, Casey Higgins, but seems to have a great dislike for him and he can’t figure out why. She’s friendly and outgoing to everyone else and to him she’s polite, cordial, but nothing more. He has no idea what he did to illicit her reaction to him but he aims to find out and when he does he knows that he’s going to have to use every weapon in his arsenal including telling her something he has only told a very few in order to not only make it up to her, but to win her over. Set right before the NHL Christmas break, Rebel Yule was filled with holiday gatherings, friends, teammates and a lot of Christmas spirit. Erik and Casey are thrust together first being stuck in an elevator at the Rebel’s offices and then when Erik decides he’s going to show Casey just the kind of man he is. I loved the time they spent together with her seeing his family side as they video chatted, sharing his Swedish holiday customs with her, and in the way he simply cared for all of her needs. I love that Erik was concerned about the way Casey’s parents weren’t really in her life and the way her ex-boyfriend treated her. While I understood that Casey was upset with herself after Erik confessed his condition to her, I think it was a learning experience for her as well. There was a lot of time with the Rebel’s family which of course included a lot of advice on wooing and keeping a woman which made me smile and laugh. Rebel Yule was a holiday treat filled with fun, food, a bit of mischief, and so much love. I enjoyed every minute of it. Review copy provided for a voluntary review.

I regret not having paid attention to Erik in the previous books in the series, because he ended up one of my favorite male characters from the author. In a clever move, she offers his love story coupled with a holiday story, delving into several Swedish traditions to write an exotic and heartfelt romance. Add to that Erik’s peculiar condition, that is the trigger for the second chance part of the story, and you get an almost perfect book. Add to that Erik’s peculiar condition, that is the trigger for the second chance part of the story, and you get an almost perfect book. Almost, because it’s a novella, and it felt sometimes that some elements were only brushed and slighly rushed in order to get to the main course–i.e. Casey and Erik’s relationship–while in a longer book they might have been more developped. We still get Rebels’ ensemble scenes, where every character we met before shows their own brand of crazy. Those conversations were delightful. And I liked that this story happens at the same time as others in the series, and we get hints at where in the general timeline we are. Since it’s a novella, there aren’t as many sexy times as in a full novel, but they’re still incredibly hot, and perfect for Erik and Casey–passionate and with plenty of feelings. I also enjoyed the little touches of domesticity, it was cute. Though everything happens a bit too fast, it was a pleasant holiday read, and it’s always a pleasure to come back to the Chicago Rebels. He's Swedish, and he's been playing in Chicago for 7 years. He's made a family here with his teammates, but he misses his big, close-knit family back home, especially around the holidays. He's a nice guy and gets along with everyone, except one important person, whom he really WANTS to like him. The team owner's personal assistant seems to hate his guts, and he has no idea what he did wrong. Casey Higgins has worked as Harper Chase's PA at the Rebels team offices for about a year now. But, it's also been about a year since her boyfriend of 8 years dumped her, after she supported him through law school, emotionally and financially. She loves her job, and she's good at it. The only real downside is having to be in contact with Erik. Especially now that he's decided he's going to push her to tell him what her problem is with him, and she can't figure a way out of it. But, once she blurts it all out, there's no going back. Erik and Casey had GREAT chemistry and even when Casey was hating him, you could see it sparking. I kind of assumed correctly the reason for her dislike of him, but the hows and whys of it were a surprise, and I really loved how the author laid it all out. They both misunderstood some things, and withheld some things, to the point that neither of them had the whole story. I enjoyed getting to learn about it alongside them. The side characters in this series are always my favorites, all the players and their WAGS, plus Harper and Remy, ooh la la. (He's still my top fave to this day! Go read Irresistible You ASAP!!) The guys' texting, and in person banter is always fun, and funny, and you can really feel the love between them all, even when they're teasing each other. Erik's family seemed lovely too! I hated that Casey's parents weren't very caring towards her, and she always seemed like an afterthought. I'm glad she had the Rebels family to lean on too! I adored this holiday story, including learning more about Erik's Swedish Christmas traditions! Erik and Casey were perfect (and HOT!) together, and once they worked through all their issues, I really believed in them as a couple. This series just continues to be amazing, and I love every story I read. I can't wait for wild Tara's book next! Something tells me her hero isn't going to be anything like what she thinks she wants! I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given. Reviewed by Megan from Romanced by the Book

Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Casey and Erik) REBEL YULE is a second chance romance between PA to the Chicago Rebel owner Casey Higgins, and goaltender Erik Jorgenson. Seven years earlier, a one-night stand between Casey and Erik ended when Erik ghosted our story line heroine. Fast forward to present day wherein Casey now works for the Chicago Rebels team owner, and in the previous year, struggled to be friendly to our story line hero. With the approach of the Christmas holidays, Casey finds herself wondering about what was and what could have been. With an invitation from Erik, Casey will discover that Erik has a secret, a secret that kept him from recognizing our story line heroine. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Casey and Erik, and the potential fall-out as Casey struggles to move on from the past, and a previous relationship that has affected all of her relationships going forward. The relationship between Casey and Erik is one of second chances. Erik never understood why Casey was so hostile with every encounter, and Casey battled between head and heart in the face of Erik’s inability to remember their one night together. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples. We are reintroduced to the team owner Harper Chase and her husband Remy DuPre, as well as the introduction of Erik’s extended family in Sweden, and Casey’s ex boyfriend Andrew. REBEL YULE is a story of second chances, friendships, relationships and miscommunication. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are animated and charismatic. www.thereadingcafe.com

5 star review Rebel Yule (Rookie Rebels #5.5) by Kate Meader What’s not to love? It’s the most magical time of the year. A time for family and friends to come together and as Christmas is my favourite holiday I couldn’t wait to read Rebel Yule. This is Chicago Rebels Goalie, Erik "Fish" Jorgenson’s story and I was so excited to read this one. I have loved every book in this series and couldn’t wait to see what Kate Meader had in store for Erik and Casey’s story. I have loved every book in this series and couldn’t wait to see what Kate Meader had in store for Erik and Casey’s story. Having met them in previous books and knowing that Casey is Harper’s assistant I knew we were in for a treat. I already loved Erik, but in Rebel Yule I fell for him even more, such a totally swoon worthy man. Whilst Casey is such an efficient, independent woman who could hold her own and one I could easily see as a friend. Erik has wanted Casey forever but it seems he has angered her in some way and cannot get the time of day from her. He is desperate to learn what he did and when they are trapped in an elevator he decides the time is right to get some answers. However Casey has baggage and it will take all Erik’s focus and determination to fight for and win the heart of the woman of his dreams. The chemistry between them sizzles and I loved seeing some of my favourite characters again. Although this is a novella, Kate Meader gave us a wonderful holiday story which was well written and certainly got me in the mood for the holiday season.

I’m so happy to be back with my Rebel favourites, and more specifically with Erik in Rebel Yule. Kate has this wonderful way of portraying her Rebels as a family. Every single book I’ve read (and I’ve read them all) is like being welcomed straight back into the fold with open arms. I’m invested in every single one of them, and I not only love to read about who the latest is to land their HEA but also to catch glimpses of the rest of the crew and what they are doing now. I’ve loved Erik from previous books. Our Swede clearly has a heart of gold and was just an all round dirty talking perfect guy. I loved getting a glimpse into the Swedish Christmas traditions in this book! It was such an interesting element. I’ve been dying to find out what the deal was with Casey hating our good guy Erik so much. This book didn’t disappoint. I loved the discovery scenes when the penny finally dropped! I don’t want to give away too much here to avoid spoilers but the whole thing worked for me. Erik and Casey brought with them chemistry and connection in spades. I just loved everything about this feel good Christmas read. There was minimal drama, and the whole flow kept me turning those pages to finish it in record time. Erik is the perfect Christmas gift everyone needs wrapped in a bow waiting under the tree! Absolutely loved Rebel Yule, and I can’t wait for more.

This was a really cute holiday story with family and friends, along with celebrating deeply ingrained family traditions for the Christmas Holiday. Casey's track record with men leaves her skiddish and vulnerable until one sexy and hot hockey player from her past tries to prove to her that all men are not the same but, he never realized he was one of those men from her past. Not only that, but we found Erick to being a sweetheart and gentle and kind and down to earth, along with being a family man who loved his family deeply. We thought Casey and Erick made a cute couple, and we were rooting for them to move on from the past and try to see if there was something lasting. They were really perfect for one another and had great chemistry, simply put they just fit. We found Erick doing the sweetest things that made us smile. This was a brand-new author for us, and we really loved our first read by them and looking to pick up the rest of the series and get caught up as we are already loving what we are seeing from the previous characters. What a fun read and toughly enjoyable.

Christmas is a magical time of year and once you add in one of my favourite hickset teams the Chicago Rebels you get the perfect magical tale. This is goalie Erik “Fish” Jorgenson and the owners PA Casey Higgins story and it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone although I’m sure one encounter with this team will never be enough. I fell hard and fast for Erik and I adored the strong and sassy Casey, the chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty but it was Erik’s focus and determination to win the love of his life that took this book to another level. If you love the holiday season and hockey romances this should be a must read because Rebel Yule is a magical love story.

Rebel Yule is a sweet, cheerful holiday story that's a bit of a second chance romance. You'll understand that comment more when you read the book. You'll totally love Erik and Casey. They are so perfect together. Erik is a wonderful man that really cares about people and Casey is so sweet and deserves happiness. When you find out how much Christmas decoration Erik has in his home you'll just fall in love with him. Okay, maybe that was just me but what can I say, I crush on those who decorate hardcore. What I also loved about him is how he treat Casey's cat. Not only did he let him into his home he talked to him like he was a person. So sweet! You will also enjoy Casey. You won't be able to not feel sorry for her. Her family life isn't the best but thankfully she has friends to be there for her. Also, her cat. Figuring out why Casey was so mad at Erik was interesting and really added to the story. You really felt for them both as you learned about the past. All of it was handled so well and added to the story. Rebel Yule is a wonderful holiday romance that you'll be happy to read. It is also full of the characters we love in the series. Kate Meader is simply the best. Rebel Yule is the overall twelfth novella/book in her Chicago Rebels/Rookie Rebels series. This is a standalone read, though characters from both series make appearances throughout the story. Erik “Fish” Jorgenson has been a character in the Chicago Rebels world since the first book, Irresistible You. The twenty-seven-year-old Swedish goalie has been a quiet secondary character and oftentimes punch line for jokes by other players. Finally, Erik is getting his shot Kate Meader is simply the best. The twenty-seven-year-old Swedish goalie has been a quiet secondary character and oftentimes punch line for jokes by other players. Finally, Erik is getting his shot at love, and the woman who has captured his attention is quite a surprise. Casey Higgins is the executive assistant to Harper Chase DuPre, one of the owners of the Chicago Rebels professional hockey team. Casey has worked for the team for about a year. She’s nice and personable to everyone in the organization, except for Erik. Him, she disliked on sight. In fact, Casey never smiles at Erik and she does her best to ignore him whenever he has his meetings with Harper, or when they are in social settings. No one knows why she has such a dislike for Erik. Casey’s reaction to Erik has absolutely nothing to do with her fangirling over him. I LOVED Erik. He’s the only boy in his close-knit family that includes three girls. He loves Christmas beyond measure. Trust me, his love is very surprising. Erik has a lot of layers to him, but what really surprised me is that he’s really vulnerable and is unsure of himself. Casey, like Erik has self-esteem issues. Her ex and her parents consistently make her feel as though she isn’t enough. She is definitely enough. Erik and Casey have great back and forth banter when they are finally forced to deal with the issue between them. They work well together as a couple. And they are definitely passionate. Rebel Yule is a nice Christmas read and a great addition to the Chicago Rebels/Rookie Rebels series. ~ Favorite Quote ~ “You shouldn’t settle for some guy who isn’t going to treat you as the center of the universe.” **Received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.**

A fun Christmas-time frolic with Erik and Casey. Finally we get to find out why she has been giving the big hearted swede the cold shoulder ever since she started working for Harper….and it is quite an interesting turn of events! Really great to spend the seasonal celebrations with the team. All the usual characters are there with some fun banter, inappropriate comments from Tara and a little bit of winter spice😉

Quick(ish) Review Cute novella that’s very dependent on knowing the series and the established characters. I just wished for a little more. I’d recommend for completists and fans of Ms Meader.

I always want a little more from novellas and I still did here, but overall I think this worked really well. I didn't feel shorted because the layer of their backstory added so much. Not sad about having a holiday read in October, either. I always want a little more from novellas and I still did here, but overall I think this worked really well. I just loved this book and am so glad I read it. I won't go into details but I will say that the premise was original. Flawed characters make for a better story; more realistic and genuine. Erik and Casey were so likable that I was thrilled that they became a couple. Despite the hurdles Erik had to go through to win Casey's heart; the injustice of why Casey had animosity towards him, the slow burn and anticipation were believable. I've read one other book from this series and enjoyed it immensely. The characters from this series are a spinoff from this author's Chicago Rebels series. I definitely want to go back and read those books as well as catch up on the Rookie Rebels. I love all the characters and many revisit throughout. That said, Rebel Yule is shorter being a bit more than a novella. But that didn't matter because this book had everything I needed to love it. I would definitely reread this next year. This book was so Christmas! You don't have to read the other books to enjoy Erik and Casey. This was such a wonderful, creative story; perfect to get you into the holiday mood. While I received an advanced reading copy of this book, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
