Friends to lovers is a trope I struggle with at times because there's usually an imbalance that I don't enjoy. However, I've come to enjoy that trope when it's done well, and this is a great example. This book works so well because of Elliot and Lucy's friendship. They're extremely close and you can tell how much they both appreciate each other. Sometimes with this trope one of the characters is taken advantage of by their friend, but that's not how these two are. They're equals in their friendship, they care about one another, and provide each other with support. They say a strong friendship is a great foundation to a relationship and Ell and Luce are proof of this. I enjoyed Lucy a ton. I could see Lucy being a character that some find annoying, but I think that's because she reminds people of themselves in a way that doesn't lend to escapism. Lucy feels lost in her 30s and boy do I relate. I'm 29 and constantly have a crisis about how my life doesn't feel exciting enough. I could relate to Lucy wanting to do amazing things, but feeling so scared. I found her relatable and I was happy to see her be brave enough to try different things. Ell is just the best. I love how he pushed Lucy to be brave and told her how deserving she was of everything in her life. He was so in love with Lucy and was sweet with her. I swooned at the different ways he showed his love for Lucy through the flowers and her birthday. I personally loved the skincare scene because it showed how much he paid attention and the attentiveness he had towards her. He's truly the sweetest and I love him so much 🥰 Thank you to JC Hawke for the ARC!

Elliot and Lucy had me from the very first time I met them in the promise duet, I was so excited to read their story. Lucy has taken an internship in New York but was in 2 minds if she should go, it was always her dream but she is very indecisive (yep I feel your pain Luce 🤦🏻‍♀️) Elliot gives her that little push to follow her dreams and go which obviously for our MCs causes so much tension and drama. Will the physical distance make these 2 stronger? Lucy is kind hearted and is looking for her happy ever after and Elliot by his own admission is London’s most notorious playboy, as they feel they are on different paths even though their is no doubt an attraction between them from the off they never move further than friends. Elliot Montgomery it’s official has made it to my book boyfriend list, that man is so swoon worthy, he listens, takes care of those he loves, secretly loves a Disney film, but has one of the filthiest mouths 😮‍💨 Thank you Jess for allowing me to receive an ARC of this amazing story I’m excited to read more from this world, it is definitely one I want to step into.

Opposites attract, friends to lovers, Elliot and Lucy try to figure out these new feelings. But, she's moved across the Atlantic to the big city and these two are missing each other more than they thought they would. Elliot plays the field hard and never keen on any type of romantic relationships with anyone. It was actually hard for me to connect with either characters. The first of the Grand Men series, a spin off series from 2021's beautiful Promises duet, is the friends to lovers story of Elliot Montgomery, notorious billionaire playboy, and Lucy Morgan, the funny, fiesty, driven dreamer who loves with her whole heart. This is the type of book that you can re read over and over and never get bored of the characters. They will imprint themselves into your heart and will live there forever. Jess is a fantastic author with wild characters running around in her head, I can’t wait to read more by her. She is a one click author for me now.

I had to noodle on this one a bit. My thoughts are still a little jumbled. I liked this book. In fact, I liked it a lot. However, this is an entirely different book than the blurb made it out to be. And that is totally fine. I simply was not prepared for the emotional and mental roller coaster I would be on. There were a few gaps and missing elements that had me with questions at the end but nothing that really took away from the book. Elliot and Lucy were infuriating at times. It wasn’t even a lack of communication but more a lack of understanding themselves. Lucy wouldn’t make any decisions for herself. She was so scared of making the wrong choice that she would try to avoid making one at all. She never wanted to hurt anyone but her indecisiveness created difficult and hurtful situations. She never had bad intentions and was incredibly loving to her friends and family but really lacked confidence. Elliot was such a player and not even in a cute or funny way. He just wanted to get his rocks off. Which to me really spoke to his lack of confidence as well cause he thought that was all he was capable of giving. Not that you’d know it cause he had quite the ego. He also was so kind and loving to his friends and family. Both MCs had huge hearts but they couldn’t get out of their own way. They hurt the shit out of each other a couple of times. It was truly heartbreaking and tear inducing. There are actually triggers in this book. There are elements of DV and non-con/dub-con. I think those are important to note because they are deal breakers for many. That being said, I can’t tell you much about those cause it’ll literally ruin the story. And I’m not giving spoilers today. I will tell you that they do have their happy ending and it’s glorious but there is also a fairly substantial cliff hanger.

He exudes sex appeal and confidence and he doesn't settle down. Lucy is more like the girl next door. The girl you take home to mama. The stunning woman that adores you but doesn't sleep with you. Elliott and Luce have been best friends for years. But there's always been something.. The attraction was THERE but did they want to ruin a friendship over it. When Lucy is offered an opportunity of a lifetime, Elliott is the one to convince her to go. Leaving behind everything she's known, she flies to New York and starts a "new life". The angst in this book is real. The tension is delicious. And the plot twists? Didn't see it coming!!! I knew something was going to happen but what transpired had me gasping at 1:30 in the morning! I loved this book so much and need more immediately! (I'm looking at you JC!) Do you know how hard it was to narrow down the quotes?! I can't wait to see where this goes! I am counting down to where you all can get your hands on this book! It was perfection!

The Promise Duet (Grand Lies and Grand Love) and The Grand Pact is a story that follows two of sub characters from the promise duet, Elliot and Lucy. When I first found out that Elliot and Lucy would be getting their own story I screamed. They are two of the most lovable characters you will ever meet, and their journey is an emotional one. Lucy is a beautiful heroine that is struggling to find her place in the world and feels as though her time is running out to accomplish all the dreams she has. Jess is unbelievably talented in writing complex and unique characters and storylines. Her ability to pull a reader in and make them feel as though they are a part of the world she has written is a true gift and so rare. Every word and sentence are carefully strung together to create magic and I’m in love with every single thing she writes.

Epic isn’t easy. Where to even begin? This story gave me all the feels. Luce has always wanted the fairytale dream. So, when the perfect internship drops in her lap why does she hesitate on taking it when it’s always been her dream? I was so excited that Luce and Elliott were going ti get their own book, but this blew my high expectations out of the park. the first books (The Promise Duet) were so good and that is where you get to know Luce and Elliott. we got to see their friendship begin and now that they have their own story it was completely perfect. their story made me smile, cry, and laugh. I literally can’t find the words to describe The Grand Pact. Perfection doesn’t even cover it. Nina and Mase own my heart but I think Elliot and Luce own my soul. This story is surely not getting ‘outta my head’ (IYKYK). It’s no secret I love Jess’ writing. I am blown away by her ability to draw emotions from readers. Happiness, frustration, sadness and everything in between, I felt it all. We had a glimpse of Lucy and Elliot’s friendship in The Promise Duet and I already fell in love with them I literally can’t find the words to describe The Grand Pact. I am blown away by her ability to draw emotions from readers. Happiness, frustration, sadness and everything in between, I felt it all. We had a glimpse of Lucy and Elliot’s friendship in The Promise Duet and I already fell in love with them then. I love them even more as their story unfolds. Luce was offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to work in a reputable fashion house in NYC. She was thrilled but scared of starting something “new” in a foreign place away from her friends and family. She had plans to build her own family and didn’t want to deviate from the path. Knowing how remarkable, talented and ambitious Luce is, Ell pushed her to get out of her comfort zone and chase her dream. He even agreed to give her kids if she hasn’t found herself in two year’s time. Ell and Luce have the strongest bond and the most beautiful friendship. While they are attracted to one another, they never cross the line. They want different things in life. Luce wants a house, marriage, kids and Ell the notorious playboy is nowhere near settling down. When they entered the forbidden territory, their relationship blossomed into so much more. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Ell was completely OBSESSED. He is drool worthy, alpha, dominant and heartwarming. The texts, calls and FaceTime are just so precious. They have so much respect, love and admiration for one another, everyone would root for them. That said, they are by no means characters without flaws. They are what make them so genuine, relatable and lovable. In life, we make silly mistakes and questionable decisions and THAT’S OKAY. We learn from them and become better. Another key takeaway for me is to acknowledge the fact that it is okay to make plans, change them and change them again. Our priorities change at different stages of life. Change could be daunting but all we have to do is find the courage within us. A special shout out to the most incredible group of friends. Nina, Mase, Scar, Charlie, Megan, Vinny are the most supportive, caring and loyal bunch. Let’s not forget the two beautiful souls Jean and Ralph, who helped put things into perspective for our beloved couple with their words of wisdom and life experiences. I also wanted to applaud Jess for the brilliantly written epilogue. You’ve done this book to perfection and lady, you’re going to go far on this writing journey!

I absolutely adored Elliot and Lucy in the Mase and Nina's books. And they continued to deliver. The first few chapters of this book had me literally crying from laughing so hard. This book I have had recommended to me constantly, I was bombarded with people saying read this it's so amazing and everyone loves it. They lied. The Grand Pact centers around our main character Lucy. Lucy dreams of becoming a fashion designer and getting her dream job in New York. She and her bestie Elliot have been dancing around each other for years but nothing has ever happened. Lucy is pretty meek so Elliot tells her that she needs to live her life and in two years if she's not with someone head over heels in love he will give her a kid. Now that's the title of the book The Grand Pact but it's only mentioned three times after that.  Elliot is our “hero” and I put quotes there because I would have more faith in my 5-year-old brother's morality than this man. I'm all for a morally gray character but he was just straight up not a good person. He “cheated” (they weren't actually together but knew each other in the biblical sense) the day after they had done the semi deed. Then a few chapters later he's getting head from the same lady. Now, this lady Harriet turns about to be evil (eye roll) because of course she is. Everyone is just falling over themselves for Elliot; he's just so HOT. No, because the way people talk about him in this book you would think he was a Greek god… with the personality to go with it. Lucy is meek and there is nothing wrong with that inherently but Ms. Girl has no spine. I imagine her back is just being held up by a flimsy cardboard toilet paper roll. Picture this if you will. You love this guy but you move to New York and can't see him. You meet a new guy and you like him but just like a friend, his name is Max. Elliot, the guy you love, breaks up with you so you can ”be who you are truly meant to be”. Elliot then surprises you on your birthday but you are now with Max, the guy you like as just a friend. Now of course you and Max your friend with kinda benefits are having sex with other people because DUH. But now you and your former love are back in the same room, so of course, you do the dirty. But your Max comes back so you shove your lover in the closet and he(Elliot)  finds out you have been living and in a semi-relationship for WEEKS.  Elliot storms home and you're hurt because he finds out. But keep in mind he was literally with someone else the day after yall got together three months ago; was getting head while on the phone with you at one point.  A few weeks later your friends convince you to go to Bora Bora with them but you don't want to because you have to bring Max your jerk of a boyfriend and your former bestie Elliot who you are in love with will be there. Soooo your friends lie to you and tell you that Elliot won't in fact be there. Surprise Surprise he is there. He throws your favorite piece of jewelry into the ocean.  Finally, you go back to New York where you find out Max is a DRUG DEALER who has been using the house you got from the nice old rich man you met when you first got to New York. Oh yeah, Lucy got a whole house from a guy she met at the park. Anyway, Max has been using this house to store his Drugs and you just never went into the basement? This ends with you getting whacked in the face, quitting your dream job that wasn't actually your dream, and going back to London. Oh, and you and Elliot finally get together so you can be a dysfunctional happy family. Oh, and remember that pact you made three-ish years ago is not at all relevant to the story. At the end of the day, I would give this book two stars because I made it all the way through and I can't in good faith give a book one star, unless it was absolutely horrible, whereas this was just awful. Side note: The side characters made no sense to me. Nina and Mason were constantly being mentioned, but they felt very irrelevant.

The one i’ve been waiting for… my most anticipated read this year. The teasing from JC has only heightened my excitement and my girl does not let us down …. The Grand Pact is absolutely nothing i expected it to be, i was completely taken by surprise by this story and blown away! No Boring slow burn here because it kicks off with steam, the prologue instantly had my body temperature rising, sexy fun and playful…. then 15% i was already crying i just knew this story was going to take me on a journey but shatter me in the process. Elliot Montgomery- the notorious billionaire playboy, the hot guy to instantly have your knickers melting, the fun cheeky playful guy everyone loves. Deeply loving and caring and a friend everyone should have…. I would defo let him be my friend with benefits 🤪 Lucy Morgan - the planner, organiser, the hopeless romantic and loyal friend. Funny and feisty. Together they are content and comfortable, caring, understanding and each other’s person - the first they ring to tell them news. the first they turn to when down but they can’t see beyond friendship, too scared to take the leap ….. not what each other wants in life ? we don’t always get what we want! Elliot and Luce have an incredible bond and friendship , also they are full on sexual tension, every time they are together the air is filled with electricity, constant sparks of chemistry, they can be in a room full of people yet you can see how it’s like no one else exists and the ease of been around each other is simplicity and the loving ness between them everyone else sees and knows just how good they’d be together. The story is All the feels . I laughed (hard and loud) because it’s filled with humour and wit. The friendships and bonds these girls have with each other and the guys is tight, solid and loyal. They are fun and makes you want to be in their gang! I cried, i sobbed and broke numerous times, heart breaking events that felt like JC was ripping out my heart. Moments of nervous butterflies and dread in my stomach. Anger - i was so mad but hurt . I mentioned how the story was unexpected… totally. There’s nothing i can say without giving anything away or spoiling it…. I need to say though certain things happen where Luce really annoyed me and i wanted to scream at her and shake her because something didn’t feel quite right. But the way she finds herself and grows really left me in awe. Worry - sometimes i was literally sat on the edge of my seat with my stomach in knots. Confusion- So many twists Hawke drops on you like a tonne of bricks, you know them moments your screaming in your head ? The things where you think you should have seen coming or known all along … which leads me to…. hate - (probably a strong word) there’s one character infact probably two but this one character i just knew something wasn’t right, instant dislike. JC Hawke delivers another incredible story that has you completely captivated from the first page to the last! No way can you put this one down, a story to be devoured ! Being only her 3rd release she more than proves she’s taken the right career path by becoming an author, there’s so many out there and i can only imagine how hard and daunting it can be but when she gives us stories like this? She’s defo an author to follow and i am beyond excited to see what she gives us next. Reading the Grand Pact is like returning home. I admire and adore this world and all the characters in it. I pray Jess gives them all their own story. ❤️

Wow! I LOVE this couple. Grand pact has been a much anticipated book for me, couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. From the Grand Duet, you always knew there was a strong bonded friendship between Elliot and Lucy. Elliot is a self confessed playboy and the joker of the gang, and you can’t help but love him. From the Grand Duet, you always knew there was a strong bonded friendship between Elliot and Lucy. Elliot is a self confessed playboy and the joker of the gang, and you can’t help but love him. Lucy, wears her heart on her sleeve, the most kind and thoughtful young woman. Even though she is a bright and intelligent woman, she’s also indecisive and lacks in the confidence to stand on her own without the support network of her friends and family. Lucy receives an offer of her dream job, by talking it, it will take her away from everything and everyone she loves and relies on, especially Elliot. Elliot has always been there for Lucy throughout everything, her break ups and heart aches, a true best friend. But one night, what turns out to be a bit of fun for Elliot …and Lucy, ends up blurring and over stepping the invisible line from friendship to something else. A line they have always danced around. Lucy is a true romantic, craving a happy ever after. Elliot is a ‘love each day as it comes’ kind a guy, no planning. Even though Elliot will miss Lucy immensely, he urges Lucy to go and experienced a chance of a life time by taking the her dream. So they find themselves on different continents, with an even bigger pull between one another and a shift in there relationship. So a long distance relationship ensues, FaceTiming, texting, and sexting 🔥 There are also some other plot twists throughout Grand Pact, I had a feel there was something going on… 🤔 There is also some good humour which had me giggling on many occasion. It was great catching up with all gang, their friendships and relationships is one of the things I love about these books, I love the whole gang! JC Hawke did a wonderful job in writing Grand pact. I was blown away how she could create such chemistry between two characters that where in different continents majority of the time, she really created all the feels. I found myself so eager to read the messages and the interactions between Elliot and Lucy. There was some very hot FaceTime sessions 🔥 When the book wasn’t in my hand I found I couldn’t stop thinking about them. It’s an epic and emotional journey Elliot and Lucy embark on, to bring them to where they belong, and I loved every tear and elation throughout. The last paragraph blew my mind …very cleverly done, I might add. I can not wait for the next book within the Grand world. I highly recommend Grand Pact. Five ‘outta your head’ stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well done JC Hawke, you nailed it! *Grand Pact could be read as a standalone, but to fully enjoy it and understand all the characters, I recommend you read Grand Lies & Grand Love first.

Ever since JC announced this book I could not fucking wait! I knew I was fucked before I even read this book. This book had me in all my feels. It made me smile, laugh and cry (I’m emotional okay). J.C did it again after reading The Promise Duet, I thought how could I love anyone other than Nina and Mase but Luce and Elliot found their way! I don’t know where to begin without giving too much. Laugh- Luce and Elliot are funny as F***, they have the best friendship and bond. I don’t know where to begin without giving too much. Laugh- Luce and Elliot are funny as F***, they have the best friendship and bond. Love the dynamic between them and their family and friends. Smile- When they would say/think of things of one another (not realizing they were already in love). Cry- Elliot made me cry. He broke my heart along with Luce (don’t worry he picks it back up eventually) Anger- I hated (as I’m sure most will agree) a character in this book felt very off from the beginning; Luce made me angry too as much as I love her there were times where she made me upset with her choices and I also wanted to scream some sense into her but thankfully she does that on her own lol The chemistry between them is off the charts(spice starts within the first couple chapters ;) ! You could tell from the snippets they had in The Promise Duet and it only grows in The Grand Pact. Everything about their friendship, longing stares, phone calls, texts….you will definitely feel the angst lol Elliot is definitely a book boyfriend. He was amazing in all the ways he thought he couldn’t be. When he intentionally let Luce go so she could thrive in New York even though it pained him. He did it for her and it wrecked me.(part of me wanted to throw my laptop and take a break from reading because I didn’t want to understand why he was doing it.) Luce is probably a character I’ve resonated the most with. Lucy is always in her head. She’s calculating the good and the bad, having her life planned out. “Outta your head” is something that will stay with me forever. Loved to see Luce’s character development when she was on her own in New York. Think she needed that to put other things into perspective. All that said. Definitely READ THIS BOOK! You won’t regret it. I know I don’t, devoured this in one day. The up’s and down’s make it even more worth it. This is the type of book that will want you to read over and over again, then make you go back to Mase and Nina. I crave reading more about these characters and their world like Scar, Charlie, Megan. Look forward to reading whatever is next for J.C. "Outta your head, baby. You're mine now."

The Grand Pact is the highly anticipated story of Elliot and Lucy. We first fell in love with these two in The Grand Lies duet. They are best friends of Mason and Nina, and we all knew they were going to end up together, no matter how often they denied it during the first two books. Let just say their story didn't disapoint. First let me start off by saying when this advanced reader copy hit my inbox (a total shock to me), I actually screamed. I was just telling someone on TikTok last week how ex The Grand Pact is the highly anticipated story of Elliot and Lucy. We first fell in love with these two in The Grand Lies duet. I was just telling someone on TikTok last week how excited I was to read Elliot and Lucy's story, and JC Hawke did not disapoint! We've seen Elliot and Lucy's banter and playfulness throughout the Grand Lies duet, but this book gives us an indepth look at their relationship. I've rooted for these two to get together since they were first introduced, and their journey is truly an epic lovestory. Lucy is offered a coveted internship in NYC, and keeps it to herself while trying to figure out if she should take the jump and move from London. Elliot finds out, and while he is originally angry that she kept it from him for so long, he eventually convinces her to take it. All of this happens while the two are hiding out in the restroom of a restaurant while having one of the spiciest scenes from this book (let's just say it involved some vibrating balls and dirty talk)... After officially crossing the line they've skirted their entire friendship, Lucy heads off to NYC after an extremely emotional sendoff. She immediately meets someone on her flight, who offers to be her tour guide and becomes a close pal during her time alone in NYC. There are definitely a few twists and turns throughout the book, some weren't all that shocking, and others had me wanting to crawl through the pages and slap some sense into these two. But all of it leads to a riveting story that will have you struggling to put the book down at the end of each chapter. As with the Grand Lies duet, there are quite a few heavy on the spice scenes, which I always enjoy, but JC Hawke does a great job of offering an entertaining plot with the spice mixed in. If you enjoyed The Grand Lies duet, I highly recommend this book for you! One of the best books I've read this year. I can definitely feel Elliot and Lucy's story will be one that stays with me forever.

first of all: 10 out of motherf*cking 10. s/o to my dear JC Hawke, because this book will hold a special place in my heart. It was my first ever ARC and I LOVED it. Lucy & Elliot are amazing—as friends, as lovers, and as partners. What I loved the most is that the core of their relationship never really changed. They always cared so much about each other, and it showed at each stage. Even when they were imperfect. They made mistakes and faced challenges, both together and apart. But they f*cking stepped up, and—honestly—it was beautiful (and hot). Lucy: girl is stressed practically all the time. I found that terribly relatable. She really did need to learn to not settle for the comfort she had in her life, and to push herself to have new experiences. How she handled that alongside her relationship with Elliot was really well done (as well as his perspective on it all). It didn’t feel cheap, and it was actually really important to their relationship. AND sis locked down a "notorious" playboy from a whole continent away. That's powerful behaviour. Elliot: at first, I was a little confused as to why Elliot wasn’t going after Lucy. Their friendship was alarmingly close. So much so that I’m really thinking they were doing some Olympic-level mental gymnastics to rationalise away their feelings for each other—Elliot especially. I didn’t really see why he was so content letting Lucy live her life the way she was. But, later on in the book it made more sense. He couldn’t fight for her—for them—if she wasn’t going to as well. And he set her up to gain the tools to be able to do that. Also, he’s hilarious. Like, sneakily so. Loved that from him. AND TOGETHER THEY ARE SO CUTE!!! SPICE: amazing. When a certain plot point happened, I thought what is this going to mean for the spicy scenes???? But don’t worry—it didn’t impede them. Lucy might seem a little shy and timid, but that girl has a dirty little mouth on her in the bedroom, on FaceTime, in a bathroom… AND THE EPILOGUE!!! I swear, nothing hits like a good epilogue. I was grinning to myself the whole time reading this one. HAPPY TUESDAY!!! Loved this world and all the characters JC Hawke created. Need more xoxo

I don't know how to put into words how much I adore JC's writing... she knows exactly how to captivate you from the very beginning and make you fall completely in love with the beautiful characters that she has created 💙 I have been impatiently waiting for The Grand Pact since finishing Grand Love and as hard as that wait was I can honestly say it was worth it this book BLEW ME AWAY!! Just like the previous books (my absolute favourites) I read this is one sitting I just couldn't put it down it was everything and more that I could have ever imagined 🦋💙 Everything about this book was perfect the pacing, the plot, the humour and let's not forget the chemistry between Elliot and Lucy 🔥🔥!!! If I wasn't full on belly laughing I was reaching for the tissues it's a good job I mentally prepared myself knowing I was about to be taken on an emotional roller coaster if the previous books were anything to go by... that's just how amazing JC is with her words. The friendship group in these books between the guys and girls makes you wish you were part of their little world... they love and protect each other so fiercely proving they aren't just friends they are a family. Elliot and Lucy especially have such a beautiful and solid friendship which of course is full of pent up sexual tension that neither will act on even though the sparks are flying everytime they are together with the fear of ruining the perfect friendship they have built over the years. Everyone around them can see how perfect they are together but know better than to meddle and leave it to them to work out for themselves. I loved reading the twists and turns they both endured and of course exploring the possibilities of there being more than friendship... I felt so much reading this book laughing, crying, gasping and of course fanning myself from the exceptional🌶!!! I could literally go on and on and by time I'd finished I would have probably ruined the whole book so I need to wrap this up... Once again JC has stolen my heart with her talent and I cannot wait to read the next book (I need it NOW how dare you do that to me) 🤣 it is a MUST read it will blow your mind in the best possible ways 💙💙🦋

I was so lucky to receive an ARC for The Grand Pact. The Promise Duet was one of my favorite reads of 2021 and I have been dying, waiting for Elliot and Luce’s story and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Lucy and Elliot have been best friends for 3 years, ever since they met and their friend groups were combined thanks to Nina and Mason. You do not have to read the promise duet to follow along, but I do HIGHLY recommend it. For one, it is phenomenal. You do not have to read the promise duet to follow along, but I do HIGHLY recommend it. For one, it is phenomenal. And second, it really builds up their relationship so you can truly understand where they are at in their friendship, as well as seeing how obvious it was that they were perfect for each other. Now three years into their friendship, Elliot proposes a pact. If Luce has now found her Prince Charming in 2 years, he will give her the kids she desperately wants. Lucy is stuck in a relationship that she knows isn’t for her and all Elliot wants is for Lucy to be happy and live her happily ever after with her Prince Charming. Lucy then decides to pursue a new job opportunity that will take her away from her friends and family for a year. During that time, Elliot becomes even closer to her and lines begin to cross. This book was everything. It was funny, charming, sweet, angsty, and everything else. My heart really broke for Elliot at times as we see how he views himself and how he feels other view him. He knows he’s know as the notorious playboy, and while he hasn’t always done anything to stop that reputation, you can really see how it eats him up and leads him to believe he isn’t good enough for Luce. This book was perfect. Elliot and Lucy are beautiful people who deserve the world and it was such an emotional journey to their HEA, but man it was worth it. Also, let’s not forget how Hawke loves to leave us with a jaw dropping ending. I honestly couldn’t believe that what she had in store. I’m still a wreck from this book but I’m ready for Scarlet and Lance!

(I was honored to receive an arc of this masterpiece) First I thought we were going to get a full comedy book when it was announced that this book is about Lucy and Elliot. Not only the funny moments between the two of them did not disappoint, but also the roller coaster of emotions starting from the moment Elliot assumed that letting go of Lucy meant putting her before his own needs gripped my heart so much and that was also when the true chemistry between them started, I believe. One of the things that I was so fond of was how the warmth between their group of friends was well-written and well-considered. Not only they had a family of their own, but their friendship also was something more than just being friends. It was so welcoming and heartwarming. Lucy was an honest character with a full personality and her indecisiveness was completely shown throughout the book and I think that is why it made her so real in my opinion. Her sincerity with everyone and the fact that she shared whatever it was on her mind with people, especially with Elliot was considerate and something to learn from. So yeah, Lucy did become someone to look up to the moment I recognized her character. It was also so comforting. Elliot was a dream man. He made it so easy for others to be his friends and in the end he also made it easy to be Lucy's lover. His emotions and feelings were raw and pure and the fact that he was so caring toward the people he was close to melted my heart. I mean, he learned the products that Lucy used to wipe away her makeup, so it is enough reason to fall for this man. The shift of feelings between Lucy and Elliot was easy to grasp and that is called a proper story-line and a proper character-development. I really did enjoy every second of this book, especially after Elliot decided to let go of Lucy while she was in New York and I can't wait to read more of J.C Hawke.

Its brilliant from the first page, I love how Elliot is with Lucy and visa versa. Elliot only wants to best for Lucy and his heart is in the right place however his decisions lead to Lucy feeling alone and isolated.  I don't want to giveaway the plot or spoil it for anyone else. I would recommend reading Grand lies and Grand love first as it introduces all the characters and dynamics in the group. Grand pact made me laugh out loud, made me blush (a few times actually) made me cry and swoon, sometimes all at the  same time Here's the official blurb .  .  .  .  . We all have a dream. But I think I preferred holding mine at arm’s length... It’s not that I don’t want to go to New York. It’s that it’s all I’ve ever wanted. So when a dream internship lands in my lap, the last thing I should be doing is hesitating. Elliot thinks I should take it — he’s always believed in me. Smirking, smouldering Elliot Montgomery. Playboy-about-town. Notorious womaniser. And...dearest friend? It was Elliot’s arms I’d innocently fallen asleep between on lonely nights. And those same arms that promised all kinds of unspeakable things when I found myself writhing between them... But even as he threw me out of my comfort zone, Elliot promised me something immeasurable. So now I’m here, living my fashion design dreams in the trustiest outfit I own — indecision. But the longer I stay in New York, the further I feel myself drift from everything I thought I wanted. And somehow, absence is making the heat grow stronger... If Elliot Montgomery is no Prince Charming, why does he feel like happily ever after?

This is the first book in JC Hawke’s brand new series, the Grand Men. Even though it is a new series, and this book can be read as a standalone, it still connects with her Promise duet, and we get to see the characters from those books throughout this one. This book has you experiencing so many emotions. I gasped, laughed, cried, and fell in love along with these characters. The friendship Elliot and Lucy have developed over the course of a few years from when they met, to their friendship with all of their friends, truly gives you the belief that family doesn’t always equal blood. So who exactly are Elliot and Lucy? 𝑰'𝒎 𝑬𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒕 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒈𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒃𝒐𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆. This quote literally sums up these characters in a nutshell, but JC gives us so much more depth about who they truly are throughout their story. Ell and Luce have so much pent up sexual tension between each other, that lines start to become crossed and feelings start to become blurred. One night at an event Elliot makes a pact with Lucy that if in two years if she hasn’t found 𝘩𝘦𝘳, and hasn’t settled on her way to ‘five-year Luce,’ he’ll give her kids. Lucy is offered the opportunity to move to New York for a one year internship at a reputable company in the fashion industry. But Lucy is hesitant and fearful of moving somewhere new and to be so far away from her friends and family. Elliot convinces her that it’s an opportunity of a lifetime and that her life won’t wait for her to be brave. 𝑬𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒕 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒈𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒊𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅. 𝑯𝒆'𝒔 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆. 𝑯𝒆'𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒚 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒕. To watch their friendship try to withstand the distance and to see how it begins to grow with adoration for one another is absolutely breathtaking. JC also liked to throw in some angst and plot twists that has you grasping for your heart and reaching for the tissues. But in the end we get the HEA. "𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖." And who else joined the Tuesday club? You’ll have to read this book to find out! And that ending?!?! What the what???? I cannot wait to read the Lance and Scarlett’s story next!
