This book could not have came at a better time in my life. I am in a season where singleness and marriage are heavy on my heart - this book gave me the encouragement and assurance that I am exactly where I need to be. Life change ALWAYS pulls at my heartstrings and when Carlos BEAUTIFULLY described he came to know Jesus and God put the both of them at the right place at the right time - I only hope and pray that my faithfulness leads me in that right direction. I loved everything about this book. If you are looking for glimpse of hope, I pray that this book finds you like it found me.

Wow.. speechless. This book is amazing. I was chosen to be apart of their launch team and got an advance copy and Lex and Los went rare into their lives, sharing things they haven’t share before and going into details about their faith, eating disorders, dark times, and all point it back to God. Their faith is amazingly strong and seeing what God is doing in their life is beautiful. I love it. Read it in one day, couldn’t put it down.

I started this book in the airport and read it the whole way home. Such an easy read. I really enjoyed how it went back and forth and told their story of love but also about their testimony of Christ. It was funny and so realistic. Very relatable.

While I believe faith is a very personal choice and must be something you choose on your own, it is helpful to hear others’ stories. Carlos and Alexa were in an industry that was very “self-promoting,” leaving them feeling empty; surely, there had to be more than this. This is a beautiful testimony to their commitment to faith, as well as their marriage and family. I commend them for sharing their journey with us and living their faith out loud. I will admit I don’t read a lot of non-fiction work; however, once I started What If Love is the Point, I could not put it down. I’ve been a fan of Alexa and Carlos for years and it was so interesting to get to know them a little more through this book. One of my favorite parts of the book was near the end where Alexa is talking about how she had made her list for things that she wanted (specifically in a boyfriend/husband) but really God has His list for us and that applies in all areas of life. I love this point that God loves us no matter what, no matter where we are, and we can try and have our own list of things we want to do or what we see for ourselves in a partner, but God knows what’s best for us and we need to give it up to Him and trust in Him. I highly recommend this book.

I had the pleasure of receiving an Advanced Copy and was able to dive into the book before it’s release! It’s a super quick easy read! I want to start off by saying I’m such a huge fan of Carlos and Alexa. I grew up watching spy kids, and while I wasn’t as obsessed with BTR I knew who Carlos was. I’ve followed on social media, and their YouTube channel for years and have always admired their faith. I was super excited to hear them announce they had written a book! I was expecting the ultimate WOW (Words of Wisdom) After reading I felt like I needed time to digest it, and truly think through all of my thoughts before writing my review. But now that I’ve paused and reflected for a moment, let’s begin! Let’s start with the Pro: While reading this book you’re taken along for the ride as both Carlos and Alexa reminisce on various parts of their childhoods, their different rises to fame, the highs and lows of not only their professional lives, but their personal lives as well. We are invited into their lives as they vulnerably recount the moments they hit rock bottom, and how Jesus met them there. I love how honest and real they were about the struggles they faced, and while some aren’t necessarily something I could relate to (a few stories are more niche, focused more to the nature of their careers) even then I saw the heart behind it. All in all a lovely book sharing their testimonies, and how their love for God is always at the center of all that they do. Now for the Con.. I think my biggest issue was the structure in which the book was written. It felt very jumbled and all over the place at different points, the timelines where often jumping back and forth and it was occasionally difficult to follow. More then once I had to stop and reread a paragraph to understand what was happening. During the process of reading I often wondered when the title would begin to make sense for the topics they were discussing in each chapter. While yes they were talking about their childhoods, acting careers, personal lives, and encounters with Jesus. They had yet to specifically draw the lines of why “Love was the point.” While I can see how it was written to be more of an abstract “wait till the end to see it all come together” it didn’t flow very well in my opinion. It felt crammed all into the final chapter, and I was left jumping from here to there as they shared why “Love was the point” All in all a worth while, good read. If you don’t pay attention to the structure of writing, and want to hear the humble and honest reflections of a Christian Hollywood couple, you’ll probably love it! If you’re like me, I think you’ll still enjoy hearing their perspectives even if their writing style is a little more lax. Either way you tip it’s definitely worth the read!

Are fame & fortune all they’re cracked up to be? If not, then what’s the point? In their new book, boybander Carlos & Spy Girl Alexa answer those questions & more. I’m a major fangirl, aspiring podcaster, self-published author, & most importantly, a devoted Christ-follower. As such, Alexa & Carlos PenaVega are 2 of my favorite celebrities. Seeing they were launching a team to read their new book had me pumped! Idk how a launch team works. Idk if it’s first come first serve, all are welcome here, or a select number of people who get to join. Either way, it felt like a risk to ask to be on the team. I didn’t expect to get an invite. I figured thousands of people, if not more, would be asking to join. So, when I saw the email to join, I was SO excited! It’s always such an honor to get an invite into someone’s story. It’s why I do what I do. I share my story, so you can be a part of it, & so I might be a part of yours too. That’s exactly what Carlos & Alexa have done with this book! Why? Because Jesus invited us into His story & when we invite Him into ours everything changes for the best. That doesn’t always feel true, but it is. There’s a time & place for philosophy & theology. This isn’t it. Both often leave more questions than answers. In this book, Carlos & Alexa give us the only answers that matter–love & Jesus. Some might complain most of the book is their stories & not “the point.” I would argue that’s not true. If love is the point, then you have to get to know people & you have to get to know Jesus. How would you get to know people & Jesus without hearing their stories? Maybe I’m biased. Maybe being a fan of BTR, Spy Kids, DWTS, & Hallmark made me love this book more than I would’ve otherwise. I don’t think so though. Alexa & Carlos were vulnerable & raw in this book. They were amusing & straightforward. I will recommend this book to anyone & everyone interested in the lives of child stars, heartthrobs, & what truly matters. I gave this book 5 stars, not for the writing, but for the story & the answers because love IS the point. For a more detailed review keep an eye out for TWO podcast episodes coming soon!

I truly didn’t know what exactly to expect from this book. I have known these two since my girls were young and followed them through them. Because of that, I knew some of their story. I really was encouraged and impressed with their faith, commitment and boldness to follow Jesus and remain committed to each other in-spite of the demands of Hollywood. This is definitely a book I’d recommend reading and one I could find myself reading more than once and honestly, I don’t usually re-read books due to so many books I read. I’ve honestly almost picked it back up again to read already again! I think this book definitely has something for everyone. I encourage you to take a chance and read it for yourself. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All views stated here are my own.

What if Love is the Point? walks us through both Carlos and Alexa's journeys to becoming youth celebrities. You'll learn about their families and their backgrounds, their teenage dating stories, the things they enjoyed about their lives, and the ways they struggled. You'll learn how each of them individually came to know Jesus Christ as Savior, and shortly thereafter met one another. Because I've always known them as a married couple, I learned lots of new things about their growing up years. I also loved reading more about things that have happened since I've been following them, like becoming parents and their move to Hawaii. Most of all, I'm so proud of them for releasing a story that unashamedly promotes Jesus Christ. They're honest about the things Jesus has helped them overcome, and how He has made good things happen from bad circumstances. You can feel their passion for Him and how much they want to honor Him with their lives. I have mad respect for that. If you enjoy reading about celebrities or just two really cool people, I'd recommend this book to you. I received my copy of the book from the authors. All thoughts in this review are my own. On social media, Carlos and Alexa definitely look like they have their lives together: happily married with three kids, doing what they love as their jobs, living on a beautiful island in a nice house, having strong, close friendships and family relationships, etc. When Carlos and Alexa started to talk about their stories, it really felt like they were having a one-on-one chat with me about my struggles: Alexa wanted to be seen and heard, and Carlos wanted to give up on God after a pipe burst. Celebrities are really just like us! But what’s different about Carlos and Alexa from a lot of other celebrities is how they handle their struggles, which is through their faith. At the beginning of my journey with God, I always wondered how Carlos and Alexa are able to live such perfect lives. As I continued to grow stronger in faith each day with the help of my wonderful church (and from reading this book), I figured out the answer: the PenaVegas’ lives aren’t actually perfect, but they seem perfect because they know God loves them and they can rely on God for guidance. I read most of this book on a particularly stressful international trip where I would often be so focused in the moment that I would forget God is still there. Eventually, whenever I was able to be in a quiet place, I would remind myself that God loves me. Once I calmed my mind, I would read a chapter or two, reminding me that God can help me with all the stress and struggles I was going through. In fact, after seeing all the times Carlos and Alexa were able to solve problems by stepping aside and asking God for help, before I even finished the book, I started to pray short, quick prayers for something happening at the moment, as opposed to putting everything in my daily prayer before bed. This book is a must-read for everyone: teens, young adults, parents, grandparents, etc. If you are going through a difficult time in life, I highly recommend this book, whether you’re Christian or not.

At the beginning I was hesitant to read the book, since it covers the subject of religion, of God and lately it has been a subject that has done nothing but make me feel uncomfortable. However, that was not what happened with this book, by the end of a chapter I wanted more and more. Since I went through a really difficult situation my relationship with God changed, it's something I've been dealing with for years. There are always these questions about why He doesn't help me out of this situation, why it's been years and the same feelings persist. I came to believe that he didn't care about me or, sometimes, that He wasn't real. After reading this book it felt like a hug, it has become clear to me that God loves me and that was the only thing I needed to know, seeing how Carlos was strengthening his faith, his relationship with God was really inspiring for me. On the other hand, my perspective on marriage was not the best, it just mades me want to stay away from it, but reading about their marriage makes me realize that what it really means is supporting each other, helping each other to be a better person. Reading the situations that Alexa went through made me amazed at the strength of her faith in God, at no time did she doubt that God was still by her side supporting her, that seems beautiful to me and gives me hope that, someday, I can reach that level of faith. I love the advice they give, like the affirmations part, which I read out loud and caused quite a few tears to be shed. A habit that I left because I thought I didn't deserve it, however that perspective is changing now. Carlos and Alexa talk about how God gives an opportunity when you need it, I think that's why I was chosen as part of the launch team. I am going through a difficult time emotionally and knowing that God loves me and he will always be there for me makes me feel that everything will be alright. Now I know what the point is, I know that God is love and love is the point. Lately I haven't been able to read a book without leaving it in the middle, however, What if love is the point? was a book that was impossible to put down, the reading is light, it is one of those books in which you immerse yourself so much that you realize you are about to finish it.

In a world full of noise, Alexa and Carlos are always a breath of fresh air. The rawness, vulnerability, and playfulness they bring to their lives and social media presence translated really well to the page. I appreciated the way they were willing to dive into things many people like to gloss over and that their story is told through both of their perspectives. They do a great of job of meeting readers where they’re at and creating an enjoyable, inspiring, and fun read.

And now this fall I will be a head teacher in what is going to be a day care setting and I couldn’t be more excited, but along with that came nerves with working with 3 and 4 years olds (I have been a paraprofessional for the last 4 years. This may sounds silly but I just need to remember that these kids are going to have those big feeling and they are going to need my helping guiding the, to handle those big feelings in a positive manner. Coming from someone who identifies as Catholic, I wanted to see how Carlos and Alexa go on about their views and this book has taught me that I am in the spot and place that my God wants me to be and can throw something in my way that I can’t handle.

There was no compensation given. Carlos and Alexa PenaVega have been in their own respective spotlights for quite some time. From SpyKids and Big Time Rush, to Dancing with the Stars and their own Youtube channel, this dynamic couple has never showed any reservations about sharing their lives with an ever-growing audience. Moreover, the couple has been incredibly open about their faith and how it determines all aspects of their lives – from projects they agree to work on, to how they raise their kids, Jesus is at the center of it all. All this said, it did come as a bit of a surprise to hear that they were releasing a book that detailed the intimacies behind their private lives and their journeys of faith. Titled, What If Love Is the Point?, this book was to explain how to “live a life for Jesus in a self-consumed world,” and their own personal reflections from this journey. The book is eleven chapters, and the reader would expect some type of guide on how their lives should exemplify Christ. Except ten of the eleven chapters are background information about the couple: from how their careers began, to individual struggles they faced, to dating and marriage and eventually, parenthood. It is only the final chapter that answers the question, What If Love Is the Point? Because so much background information is given about the couple and their lives, this book reads more like a memoir than a Christian lifestyle guide. Whether or not that was the intention is up for the authors to determine. I understand that one of the best ways to explain something to an audience is to show them and I believe that is the approach the couple took. They wanted to show how Jesus moved within their individual lives and how their faith grew under even difficult circumstances. What these stories lacked was more substance and detail. Carlos talked about being in a very popular boy band (full disclosure: I am still a massive BTR fan). With that type of career, it is not a surprise to anyone that Carlos was exposed, and eventually partook in, partying, drinking, smoking weed, the whole nine yards. And he does explain that even with all the fame in the world, he still preferred to be alone in his home; in essence, he valued his materials more than relationships. His perspective gave a sense of anger and resentment, whether that was towards the music/acting industry or just something within himself. Carlos mentions smoking weed and having sex and always yearning for more, but he failed to acknowledge why he was chasing those highs and what exactly he was running from. The reader can automatically assume that Carlos’ journey leads him to Christ, which then leads him to Alexa, but for someone that is constantly referred to as having a “baby-faith,” it would have been more impactful to read exactly how he grew in his faith and what changed once he began to live for Christ. Before I share my thoughts regarding Alexa’s chapters, I do want to commend her for being incredibly vulnerable and open with regards to discussing her eating disorder. Alexa mentions how she never openly spoke about her disorder, which, in turn, made it more difficult to recover from. Sharing something like this is no easy feat and I am proud of her for opening herself up in this manner. Alexa is much more of a storyteller than Carlos. She intricately weaves her faith into tales of her familial issues, a divorce, and navigating an eating disorder. Unfortunately, Alexa tends to jump around on her timeline, making it difficult to pinpoint as to what area in life she is. As an example, she mentions leaving her home and sleeping on a friend’s couch, to an acting gig she had (while still living at home), to being on her own, again. Furthermore, for as many details as she gives, Alexa picks the worst moments to omit them. When she discusses her recovery from her eating disorder, Alexa says that she just woke up, one morning, and it was gone. To have more of an impact, it would have been beneficial to really explain what led to that moment, what followed, and what was going on in her mind. Instead of just stating that she understands that it is too good to be true and it might be tough to believe, she could have expanded on it. Alexa would have done well in describing just how her behavior changed, how she saw Christ move in those moments, and how her life has been affected since then. I want to reiterate that Alexa’s story was powerful and emotional to read, and I commend her for being brave enough to share it. The greatest qualm I had with this book was the structure of it. As mentioned, ten chapters were background information about the couple while the last chapter finally addresses the main theme – about God and His love being the point to every struggle and how that realization changes a person’s life. The final chapter outlines specific points on how to exemplify a life for Christ in an incredibly secular world. The PenaVegas give examples of what their lives look like as devote Christians and the book would have greatly benefitted if they expanded on these stories. If, for instance, the book had been separated into two parts – the first being their background, the second an in-depth perspective of these points – the book would have flowed much smoother and really driven home the whole theme. There just could have been more – more Scripture, more perspectives, more details expanding their views of love being the point of all their decisions in life. Overall, would I recommend the book? Sure. It was an easy read, and it was interesting getting to know these public figures a bit more intimately. But if the reader is searching for a life changing guide on living a loving life for Christ, this isn’t it.

I’m going to be completely real: I went into this as a fan of Carlos, and having mixed-feelings towards Alexa. The reasons for this aren’t important, lets just say I felt we had two very different personalities. I use microwaves. Unimportant. So imagine my surprise coming out of this book having not only enjoyed her chapters, but having learned things to apply to my personal life too. Well, th I’m going to be completely real: I went into this as a fan of Carlos, and having mixed-feelings towards Alexa. The reasons for this aren’t important, lets just say I felt we had two very different personalities. I use microwaves. Unimportant. So imagine my surprise coming out of this book having not only enjoyed her chapters, but having learned things to apply to my personal life too. They’re a Hollywood couple, and so you might’ve guessed that they have Hollywood problems to talk about. Well, they did. In a way. I think a takeaway I got here is that Hollywood problems are just problems dressed up. You take everything off, and I could see what they were going through mirror things I’ve experienced, things my friends and family have experienced. I wont lie, there were moments where I almost rolled my eyes and said “seriously? Its not that deep.” (Carlos I highly recommend you take a spa day sometime and just zen out). But who am I to tell someone their problems aren’t valid? There is always a deeper meaning to why we as humans react to life’s constant struggles the way we do; a burst pipe is never JUST a burst pipe. So I had to check my own personal biases, as a fan and as a person. Calling out my own shortcomings kind of gives me chest pains to be honest. It’s uncomfortable. But I was about to read 232 pages of Carlos and Alexa doing exactly that, so I had to do the same to get the most out of this book. Now I believe I owe Alexa some credit. More than some credit actually. As I said before, I was not particularly….*fond* of Alexa. I admit it, it was the microwaves. Sue me but I love pizza rolls and I thought the idea of microwaves being dangerous was ridiculous. Alexa and Carlos don’t use microwaves, if anyone is confused. I will continue to use a microwave as I see fit, but that’s not the point. Alexa’s chapters blew me out of the water. They were thoughtful, insightful, wise, INTENTIONAL. During her chapters I would actually stop reading and go to the Bible for awhile, because something she said triggered something in my memory. And as I switched back and forth I came to the stark realization of just how much God asks of women. We are (some of us) called to be wives and mothers, caretakers and leaders, the rock against which communities lean. Alexa has taken in all of these traits with a sense of cool optimism that I myself sometimes struggle with. She turns to God at every opportunity. She loves and takes care of her family. She has ingrained God’s teachings on who a Godly woman is. She gives grace and service with kindness and compassion, with the sole intention of glorifying the name of Jesus. And there I had been, harboring malice towards my sister in Christ over a MICROWAVE. It was absolutely ridiculous. I now admire who she is and the strength she has been blessed with. Carlos’s chapters were equally impressive. He was bravely candid about what went on behind the scenes of his stardom. But through it all he never stopped being grateful for what he had. He was a bit of a slow learner….but he learned. He illustrated what almost every Christian goes through: the rollercoaster of Faith. You grow closer to Jesus, you clean up your life and then you get slammed with a hardship. You end up screaming “Was I not good enough God? What did I do?” And then you say screw the whole thing. Being angry with God is a different sort of pain: I know because I experienced it. And what I love about Carlos is that he showed all of this, all the ugly parts that many Christians don’t want to show because then we wouldn’t be perfect followers of Christ who never strayed from the path. NOBODY has that story and Carlos had no shame in getting this across. Time and time again he was pulled back from the edge by God, and nudged along by other believers. He grew, and gives all the credit the Savior. As a whole, the last chapter of the book was my favorite (I know it sounds cliche). We essentially went on a journey through each of their lives and finished with the lessons that it took them YEARS to learn. I’ve walked away from this book with a few new habits I’d like to try (thanks Lex) and a lot of laughs (thanks Los). You can read about the Biblical traits of a Godly marriage all day, but sometimes it just won’t hit you until you see it lived. Carlos and Alexa touched on this too, the power of INTENTION. They live with intention because the way they carry themselves is representative of who it is they serve. I feel very thankful that they were brave enough to share these intimate parts of themselves, so that we have the possibility to learn and the motivation to dive deeper into our faith. God is Love, and Love is the point ❤️

If you are looking for encouragement to dive into a deeper relationship with God, then look no further. Hearing Carlos talk about the struggles of using drugs and trying to find peace in objects that left him feeling empty, to hearing Alexa talk about her eating disorder that stemmed from being a woman in the industry and how that plagued her for so long, and then hearing their stories of how once they found God they were delivered from it all, and seeing how it impacted their lives for the better, will make you DESIRE to dive deeper into the Bible and grow your relationship with God more than ever before! Through the thick and the thin they talk about how God was with them through it all and how even at the darkest times they still knew he was there because 'It's not like God makes bad things happen to you. That's not what he does.'(WILITP? Book) Hearing all the great and amazing ways God has worked into their lives once they made room for Him will inspire you to want to reach out to Him too to accept His love that he has waiting for you just as they did and I trust them when they say that you won't regret it. If you are looking for encouragement to get married with God's blessings, then look no further. The story of Carlos and Alexa's marriage is one for the ages in the Christian community. They started out their marriage in learning and growing in their faith in God together and it has only made them stronger. 'For us, marriage was that place where each of us was becoming the best version of ourselves, with the help of God and each other, and we welcomed the opportunity to witness the goodness of the gift God offers..'(WILITP? Book) They also talk about how so many people and things nowadays try to put a Godly marriage down, when in fact it is the most wonderful kind of marriage! Hearing them talk about how their relationship has thrived and grown with God at the center makes me want to try to implement that more into my marriage (which is not even a full month in yet!), so that we can continue to grow stronger as a couple, continue to push each other to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be, and to make sure that we are always each other's best friend and confidant, along with God, to keep our marriage, and ourselves, happily fulfilled. I can see that if my spouse and I dive deeper into our faith, that our marriage will only benefit! If you are looking for encouragement to have kids and start a family, then look no further. Reading about how having children affected Carlos and Alexa's relationship made me feel a little less nervous than I originally was about having kids of my own because they talk about how, through God, it is a blessing that we are able to have children and raise them in a way that represents how He 'raises' us in our faith and following of Him. In this book Carlos and Alexa talk about how being a parent has 'taught Lex and I more about God than we could have imagined.....And when they choose to do wrong? When they choose to sin? When they mess up? Yeah, it's frustrating. And we let them know, plainly, that it's wrong. But we never stop loving them with our whole hearts. And when they turn to us and say, "I'm sorry, that was wrong," we are eager to answer, "Forgiven. Now that you know that, let's move forward." Because of our kids we get these glimpses into Gods heart for Los and Lex.'(WILITP? Book) The ways in which they talk about raising their children and how God plays a huge roll in it makes His connection to us even more understandable because we love our children unconditionally like God loves us and so we should raise them up as he has raised us up. Point being, if you are looking for a book that will inspire you in more ways than one when it comes to your personal and/or professional life, or even just some advice on how to strengthen your relationship with God or how to handle family matters, the best advice that you will get, that is TRULY heartfelt and sincere with your best interest in mind, go no further without reading this AMAZING book! 100% RECOMMENDED!!!

Carlos Pena is a natural performer. With his family’s full support, he went to Hollywood to pursue acting, auditioning for roles until he was cast in the global sensation television show and boyband Big Time Rush! Yet, despite the fame and money, Carlos still felt empty. Struggling to dig himself out of a dark hole, Carlos opened his ears to the Good News of Jesus, and in just one week, his life changed forever! Alexa Vega, best known for her role as Carmen Cortez in Spy Kids, has had an epic career. As she transformed from a child star to an adult, the world has watched how her faith has shifted her acting roles and lifestyle. It was no easy transition, though. Battling an eating disorder and healing from divorce, Alexa has had her fair share of pitfalls; nevertheless, through God’s grace and strength, she was able to stand again! Passionate about their love of Jesus and spreading the Gospel, Carlos and Alexa PenaVega are not shy about proclaiming their faith. In their first memoir, What if Love is the Point: Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World, Carlos and Alexa take fans through the significant moments of their lives that revealed God’s truth and brought them to where they are today. Written with candor and heart, their message is simple: the point of this life is love… specifically, God’s love! I’ve been excited to read this memoir since it was first announced in November 2021. Yet, I’m not going to lie; I was hoping for a few more in-depth details — BTR (the band’s reaction to Carlos’ faith and their reunion), movie roles (more highlights and other specific memories), and the reason Alexa stopped singing! Nevertheless, as I read on, I realized that the goal of this book was not to reveal all the juicy details of their lives but to encourage readers about God’s love through life events that showcased His provision and blessings. And they succeeded. After feeling in a rut and losing my joy, Carlos and Alexa’s words were the inspiration I needed to bring my focus back to the Lord. The final chapter, especially, awakened my soul and restored the peace I’d been missing. The PenaVega are a team! Even when they competed against one another on Dancing with the Stars and Alexa was told that she and Carlos could not win, they remained a united front! They are role models to me and millions worldwide of what godly marriage, family, and life look like. Whether you’ve been a fan of the PenaVegas since the early 2000s, or need a reminder of God’s goodness, What if Love is the Point is a fabulous testimony of God’s unfailing love. Obviously, this is their first book and it's natural to assume they had help but I genuinely trust that every single word in this book came from them, which is hard to do. Being a fan, and following Alexa since Spy Kids and Carlos since Big Time Rush, I also watch their youtube vlogs whenever they upload and this book filled in a lot of the gaps for me in terms of their life, where they come from and how they handled certain situations. It was really cool to read this book, and knowing that the footage is out their on their vlog channel or on youtube with DWTS etc. I am definitely going to go back and rewatch now that I am done the book. I have so much to say but I don't know where to begin. Whether you are a fan or not, or whether you are Christian or not (I'm not) this book has something for everyone and something that anyone can connect to. There is a lot of talk of religion, but that is who they are. They discuss tough subjects, that many go through, and whether you are religious or not, their way of handling situations, seeking support and try to change their mindset is something anyone can learn from. If you have ever been through a difficult situation, you can learn how to cope, even in the slightest from this book. Carlos and Alexa share the true stories about how they felt in certain situations, their weakness, their faults in a more upfront and blunt way than they ever have before. They discuss the inner workings of their families and friends and how it's okay not to always see eye to eye. At the brunt of it all, and with their relationship with religion, love is the point and that is how they approach any and all situations. I think everyone can learn something from this book, and truly, everyone should read it. It is a quick read, I put down a very popular book (that I was having a tough time finishing) to read this and read it's few hundred pages faster than I read the last 70 pages of that other book. Highly highly highly recommend!

Knowing Carlos and PenaVega were a young, Christian Hollywood couple who are parents, I was excited to read their book, What If Love Is the Point. It's an easy-to-read book that I found hard to put down and read it in a few hours. From page one, I was given a front row seat into the lives as Carlos and Alexa as they told their story. Through the book, you learn of their background as singles, how they came to work in Hollywood, and in the music industry, how they overcame challenges of an eating disorder, broken relationships, and learn how their faith journey began. Los and Lex share how they met, dated, married and how their faith grew. As a married couple, they share how they balance each other, and how they lean on their faith. What makes them real is their honesty, raw and unedited; it is what makes them relatable. As parents, Los and Lex share how they are raising their children to not just love God, but be kingdom builders and give examples that we can all do, not just as kids. As they tell their story, I was immersed in their highs and lows and cheered for them as they shared how God became real in their life, how He performed miracles for them, and what He is still teaching them. Their ups and downs are what I could relate to most of all and made them seem more down to earth. I thought the last chapter especially highlighted the book's theme of love. Carlos and Alexa share a list "Because love is the point,..." and then expound on how they use it in their life and invite us too also. These points are so good, I want them as magnets on my refrigerator as a reminder of how my life can be fulfilled, have peace, a purpose and help my faith grow! This book can be read over and over again as their is much to absorb and treasure. I was blessed to read their book and get to "know them" and appreciate where they started in their journey and where they are now - and I don't just mean living in HI! This book will appeal to Christians, but also to anyone wanting to read a good love story. I appreciate how the book made me examine what is important to me and what points I may want to reconsider.

I admired Carlos and Alexa before I read this book, and I admire them even more now that I’m finished. I enjoyed every minute of their story. I, like many others, follow them on Instagram. I appreciated how raw they were and how they genuinely opened up about their struggles and successes. Hearing how Alexa overcame her disordered eating and how she knew one morning that it was really gone was really amazing. I enjoyed watching them each come to Christ and how so much of their lives were orchestrated for their good. I liked how they saw Christ in their lives and acknowledged His hand instead of passing it off as coincidence. I think the part that stood out the most to me was their experience on Dancing with the Stars. It must have taken a lot of strength to focus on their marriage relationship when everyone else was telling them to put their dancing partner first. I thought it must have felt so fulfilling when they got fan mail thanking them for putting their focus on their marriage the week after Alfonso told Alexa to focus more on her partner instead of Carlos. It was remarkable that Carlos was able to share his testimony during the show. It was a huge risk, but they didn’t care about the risks; they wanted everyone to know who Christ was just like they did. I think that one of the things I respect most about Carlos and Alexa is that they don’t care what society says, they don’t care what is popular in show business. They proudly defend their values and accept roles that fit in line with them or turn away roles that put their values at risk. Another part I really resonated with was when they told about how they prayed to put on the armor of God, what a great way to pray over your family. Overall, the book was truly thought provoking. I finished it wanting to evaluate my relationship with Christ, and to be a better person.

Book 79 of 2022 I will be the first to admit I didn't know much about Carlos and Alexa -- sadly, I wasn't into Big Time Rush, nor did I see Spy Kids. I cannot watch his dance to Amazing Grace without a tear in my eye. Since then I have followed them on social media, and come to appreciate their positivity and candor. I was excited to read this book, but I will say that I was surprised at what I got. It is a fine line in writing about your faith, because you want to be honest about struggles, excited about the joys, candid about your missteps yet grateful to the Savior who changed it all. Carlos and Alexa walked this line perfectly. They both shared very deep and personal things, and they were candid in their struggles. They brought it all back to the Father who made them and supported them, saved them and loved them -- they did it in a way that wasn't preachy or judgemental but plain and honest. I applaud the time it much have taken to shape their words and choose the tone they wanted to share in this book. Towards the end of this book, they share that they want to love others, share their story and be an example of Christ. For me, this book was all of that. They were great ambassadors of the faith and as someone who shares that faith, it was an encouragement to read. I always appreciate hearing someone's testimony and how God has been working in their lives, and this was one BIG testimony. As a bonus, they narrated the audiobook themselves which made it even MORE personal, and I was a big fan. I felt like I was right there with them, at home, having a conversation about the ways that the Lord has worked and moved and man, that is some powerful stuff. Kudos to them both. This book not only is a really simple and fast read for anyone that may not have a lot of extra time, but it is so easy to relate to whether you are single, married, or a parent. Whether you are a Christian today or not, this book will help connect you with how being one really can change your life. It is a blessing. My favorite part of this book is the last chapter where it pulls in all of the wonderful points of how to live a life of love in so many different aspects of life. I truly felt warm feelings with those beautiful words of expression, and they made me evaluate how I can incorporate those into my life. I felt myself highlighting the words through many of their chapters that showed encouragement and true words of wisdom not only from the Bible but from their experiences. Life is not always easy, but when you have the right attitude and strength in God it can be definitely more bearable. The realness of how Carlos and Alexa expressed their journeys in life before and after meeting one another just gave me a deeper appreciation of who they are. Their deep love for God and one another is a true testament to what it means that ‘two are better than one”. I cannot wait to see more from them on the big screen and hopefully within print. Thank you for sharing your stories and in such a meaningful way!
