As a lover of anything Alice, I was excited to see what this comic would offer. We now see Alice as an adult, who is desperately trying to recapture her time in Wonderland. In order to do this, she is taking pills to slip back down that rabbit hole, but this of course means that she has to have the means to buy them. As the first in a new series, this instalment does obviously take some time to set the scene, but I did enjoy it. I am definitely intrigued to see where this one will go. There were different styles used to distinguish between Alice's home life and Wonderland, and I appreciated this detail. There are also references to the characters from the original tale, which for any Alice fan should be a big tick too. Looking forward to where issue two will take me.

I didn't know what to expect, but I very much enjoyed this take on Alice so far. The artwork is nice enough in the real world, but I adored the way Wonderland was presented. As first issue setups go, it's got a bit of everything we needed to get to grips with the background and continue forward with an actual story, and I've certainly read weaker intros to series'. One small thing that tripped me up - I'm not sure why it's set in North-America / has North-American language, but that's certainly not how people from London speak.

I didn't really know what to expect, but whatever it was it didn't quite live up. The art was fine with overall good faces and period Costuming, desaturated but still interesting colors. It was the story that I just couldn't get into. The actual wonderland sequence was fun, I loved the art shift. And I absolutely adore my Jenny frison variant cover. But I don't think I'll bother to read more of this series. I didn't really know what to expect, but whatever it was it didn't quite live up. Definitely something different. I'm not generally a big Alice in Wonderland person, but when @comicswithjesse from IG told me I had to read it, I rolled my eyes and went into my LCS and picked it up. Short version, yes it's drugs. Longer version, what is going on with her family? And is it through the looking glass, or into the asylum? Guess we'll find out. Either way I'm interested to see. I need to make sure this is on my pull list/subscription. Definitely something different. I can’t wait for part 2 of this book to see what happens I also think that it makes sense that Alice is taking drugs in order for her to be able to go to wonderland in this book. Although it makes me wonder where the author got the idea to have Alice take the drugs was it from the controversy over the original author supposedly taking drugs while writing Alice in wonderland? I also liked the fact that the author used the cats as narrators through out the comic.

I can't give it 5 stars yet simply because I love everything Alice in Wonderland. The first volume of this series did however make me want to pick up the second one almost as soon as I could get my hands on it. This seem to be a really good new take on Alice in Wonderland that many Wonderland fans will enjoy. I can't give it 5 stars yet simply because I love everything Alice in Wonderland. This was an interesting Alice in Wonderland retelling. I quite liked the art and the concept was very well executed. I’m not sure it was interesting enough for me to continue with it but it made for an interesting read.

It's definitely an interesting take on the Alice in Wonderland theme. I can't decide if I particularly like it, but the first issue wasn't terrible. More of a 3.8. I like the art style. The story line was a little iffy in this first issue. I also bout number two, so I know a little more of what's going on. More of a 3.8. I like the art style. Like the art a lot, particularly in the Wonderland scenes, but not sure there’s enough here to keep going.
