That's when he runs into Callie, who is at Bellevue for gymnastics. These two have so much in common and Evan is able to let Callie in. Sigh. I loved these two together so much. I seriously couldn't have loved them together more. The way Toni wrote Evan's mental health journey was so inspiring. And of course I loved getting more Nico, even though he aggravated me at times. I hope Toni never quits writing these books because I can't get enough!

Saved by Love was the seventh book in the Bellevue Bullies series by Toni Aleo. Many of Aleo’s series have crossover characters but do not necessarily have to be read in order. He had no idea what his future would hold but he returned home to Nashville to go to school and contemplate whether he would ever return to the NHL. In the meantime, he was an RA to Bellevue Hockey boys team house and a trainer for the girls gymnastics team. Enter Callie Pearce. Callie was the sister to Aviva (book two, IceCats series) and was currently a gymnast at Bellevue. She couldn’t believe her longtime crush was now at Bellevue and taping up her ankles. I’ve taken a break from formal reviews for a while, but a couple quick thoughts: Aleo unraveled a realistic perspective battling mental health and unveiled many life lessons while developing a heartfelt forever love between Evan and Callie. I loved both characters and enjoyed the developing storyline. Additionally, Aleo brought us the awesomeness that is within the Adler clan that we’ve come to expect whenever an Adler is front and center. All in all, it was a quick (read it in one sitting!) and entertaining read and I can’t wait for more!

This book really got to me. I think even if you consider yourself a "normal" person, it's easy to sympathize with what Evan was going through. We saw a little of it in the last book, but in this one it's where Evan puts his life back together, to a new future, one without hockey. I hated how doubts would sneak their way back into his head and he had to fight them. The only good thing about it was that he had a strong team surrounding him to help him realize those doubts weren't valid. A big part This book really got to me. The only good thing about it was that he had a strong team surrounding him to help him realize those doubts weren't valid. A big part of that team was Callie. I really liked how these 2 met (again) and how their relationship developed. As much as Callie helped Evan, he did the same for her. He was there to support her in all ways, even if it was keeping harsh words Nico said to him. I was glad that by the end of the book Evan showed Nico how wrong he was and that Evan and Callie were stronger than ever! They deserve all the happiness they can find! On a side note...I loved the talk that Evan had with his dad early in the book about his struggles. Shea let him know in no uncertain terms what he felt for his son and why. Shea cemented those words later in the book when Evan finally admitted to his dad he was done with hockey, all Evan received was love and support, no condemnation at all.

What a tender, sweet story! This is definitely one that pulls at the heartstrings. Evan is the twin brother of Owen and they were both drafted into the NHL for the same team (IceCats). This is definitely one that pulls at the heartstrings. Evan is the twin brother of Owen and they were both drafted into the NHL for the same team (IceCats). However, Evan has walked away from his career due to his anxiety issues. He's returned to his Nashville home to get himself together and has returned to Bellevue to complete his degree. He hasn't walked away from sports though - he's an athletic trainer for the women's gymnastics team and is the RA for the men's hockey house. As the trainer, he's tasked with taping the gymnasts and, while most of the women seem to be tripping over themselves to get to know him better, Callie is different. She's not pushing and seems to understand that this is the way to his heart. There is a slow build to this as both characters, for different reasons, are second guessing themselves. There's enough in here to enjoy as a standalone, *but* I think it's better read as part of the series. The Adler family dynamics are fun and even more so when you've read about Elli & Shea; Posey & Boone; Owen & Angie; and Shelli & Aiden. Nico & Aviva's story is also central to this ( see Wild Tendy) but again you get enough to understand this one without reading it first. The theme of mental health in sports is something that has been explored in some of the author's other novels - especially Wild Tendy and All the Sauce. Again this is sensitively done and shows the enormous pressure that the drive to excel can put on athletes. Evan's anxiety has driven him off the ice and he feels like a failure and a disappointment to his (Uber-accomplished) family. His journey to take care of himself is rocky and realistic. It's emotional and genuine. And Callie - because of her prior history (loss of her mother to cancer, alcoholic father) - understands his needs. Their story was sweet and tender. Quotes I liked: We are the authors of our stories. So pick up the pen and write how incredible you are...write your future because I think it could be something pretty amazing. We all have scars. Some show, some don't. But they are a testament to our battles - our losses and our wins.

This is the seventh book in a series, and even though it could be read as a standalone, I get the feeling that it would be an even better reading experience if I’d read the previous books in the series before starting on this one. This is an emotional new adult sports romance, a bit of a friends to lovers with drama, struggles, challenges, mental health issues, banter, touching scenes, connection, finding yourself/finding purpose again, friendship, support, and also about finding love unexpectedly. This Evan and Callie’s story. And what a story they have to tell. They are so well developed with their own unique personalities, quirks, flaws, and inner struggles- that made them so realistic, and entirely relatable. I was completely invested in them and the outcome of their story. Their story tugged at my heartstrings. Especially Evan’s struggles with his mental health. So glad I stumbled on this author- I can’t wait to explore the rest of her work/s. Happy reading! Thank you, Toni Aleo!

Not my favorite because it has little substance to it but it's true to the great characters driven series that we've come to love. And it deals with mental health. However, Nico got on my nerves. I like Evan's story but it's pretty basic and has a ton of sweet love filler. You may love that to read. Not my jam. Callie has struggled to get where she is and being enrolled into one of the top schools for gymnastics, so when the new term starts in walks someone, she thought she would ever see, Evan Alder. Although Evan has been a fantasy to her for years as her “dad” plays with his twin brother, so she must walk carefully regarding pursuing him, until they see him running and then all bets are off and Callie declares to the girls that he is hers for the taking. As Evan and Callie get closer can they maintain a relationship or will other factors knock them off course. This is the first book I have read in this series or by the author and I can confirm that this can be read as a stand-alone book, although it has piqued my interest to read the series from the beginning and the other spin off series to see how the other characters got together. The two main characters were brilliantly developed, and I like the fact that the main male character struggled with his mental health and issues which normally are portrayed by female characters in books. The chemistry between the two of them charged off the page and was crafted beautifully within the story. I loved the way that Callie’s life starts off rough and with her sister’s sheer grit and determination to get her were she is has given Callie and great role model to follow and then with Nico’s fatherly protection it was lovely to finally see her have love in both a relationship and family. The story was well developed and flowed easily and held my interest until the end. I look forward to reading more books by this author and hopefully add a few more book boyfriends to my ever-growing list.

Some things are worth waiting for. Just when I think my inexplicable love for these fictional characters in the Aleo universe cannot get any more obsessive along comes this story for the ages! She realizes quickly the situation with Evan is different and approaches their relationship in a way I appreciated as it wasn’t an insta love moment, as much as I love to read about that this story needed more. I got SO much more! Evans struggles resonate and are impactful, even if you have never had or dealt with anyone experiencing depressive or harmful thoughts this story gives insight and power to the real struggles people face. The best part about all of this though is it talks about resources and the stigma/shame behind asking for help and how impactful one conversation or interaction can be. Evan waited so long to be happy, always working toward someone else's goals. I really appreciated seeing him learn to live for himself and realizing the expectations were not what he thought and his family's love is unconditional. I enjoyed watching Callie and Evan grow with each other and show up for each other when it was needed. With Callie’s “Dad-Guy” showing up in his protective stance and throwing threats and Evan doubting that he can be who Callie needs resulting in explosive moments and declarations that are swoon worthy, I couldn’t get through this book fast enough. This book tackles some serious mental health concerns that anyone following Evan’s journey is aware of but my favorite thing about this book is I laughed and relating to what I was reading but then being able to laugh at something made this story so much more to me than just a book I will read again and again, I fell in love with it from the first chapter and I can’t wait to see where these characters go from here in the Aleo universe.

5 star Review Saved by Love (Bellevue Bullies #7) by Toni Aleo I enjoy Toni Aleo’s style of writing and was totally invested in the story that she wove about Evan Adler and Callie Pearce. This was a well written story of love, of taking a chance and a leap of faith. There is drama, banter, spice and a story line that confront and challenge the reader on occasion. Saved By love is full of love and family and characters whose story you cannot help but be drawn to. Evan’s intense anxiety has meant he has stopped playing the game he loved and is now a sports trainer for the Bellevue women's gymnastics team which is where he meets Callie. He feels that he has let not only himself but also his twin and the rest of his family down but to keep his sanity he had no choice but to leave the profession. As Evan and Callie get to know one another, they will have to work for their happily ever after and their journey was rocky. There was a great deal of emotion and love packed into this story. I loved how supportive they are of one another and they always have their back. It was also great to see familiar faces pop up whilst reading and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Evan feels he retired before he could live up to the ‘Adler Legacy’, but that he had to for the sake of his mental health. Having returned to his hometown, he gets a position at the University of Bellevue as the athletic trainer for the women’s gymnastics team. This is where he first meets Callie, and their connection is immediate from the moment Evan tapes Callie’s ankle. Callie grew up with only her sister for support, which has made her be more caring to others, and so when she discovers that Evan is suffering, she’s even more determined to get to know him. The storyline flows well making this an easy read, but with plenty going on plot wise to keep me happily turning the pages. Evan and Callie are great main characters, realistic, relatable and likeable and I felt engaged with both of them. I liked how their relationship developed throughout the book, and I felt that Evan’s mental health problems were dealt with sensitively and realistically. Although this is part of a series, I happily read it as a standalone story, however, I am now keen to read the previous stories. An enjoyable and engaging read, and one which I definitely recommend.

Evan’s story is hands down one of the most real and raw stories I think I’ve read all year. He has been through so much and watching him grow throughout this entire book was truly so freaking inspiring. Evan and Callie's book was so good! I loved it. Callie was so understanding to Evan and his mental health but as well as Evan to Callie and her past. It was fun seeing Aviva and Nico again also! As always I love seeing all the Alders but Shea kinda melted my heart and made me love him even more because the love he has for his kids is so overflowing no matter what they decide to do with their lives he's there for it! That being said I need Emery's and Quinn's books whether they are separate or to Evan and Callie's book was so good! I loved it. Callie was so understanding to Evan and his mental health but as well as Evan to Callie and her past. It was fun seeing Aviva and Nico again also! Saved by Love is the seventh book in the Belleview Bullies series, but can be read as a standalone (though I would recommend reading the whole series because it is just so good!). Callie and Evan's story is an emotional one, but it's also sweet and sexy. I love their chemistry and connection, they are a perfect match for eachother. 4.5 stars 🌟 TONI MOTHEREFFING ALEO. I genuinely think this might be my favourite she's written. I love Evan and Callie. What Evan is going through is very real and I loved that she incorporated that into the story. As someone with anxiety, I love seeing that being represented and showing us that we can still have our happy ever afters. The way Toni has incorporated this into the story is *chefs kiss* and she did it so freaking well. Thankyou Toni ❤️❤️ 4.5 stars 🌟 TONI MOTHEREFFING ALEO. Saved by Love is a story about two young individuals's journey to a better mental health life through loving each other. Callie is a young woman who was raised by her sister and brother-in-law (an NHL player with autism) after her mother died and dad abandoned them. She is a strong-minded, independent woman who is an amazing gymnast for her college, who also volunteers for the autism center. The new gymnastics trainer, Evan, is a hot, smart, slightly broken, retired NHL star who came back to college to figure things out. While both of them are familiar with each other, due to Evan playing with her brother-in-law in the NHL, he doesn’t recognize her at first although she is smitten with him from the start. While the entire school is hitting on him, she takes a different approach to gain his attention, they become running partners and friends. That camaraderie quickly turns into something more, deeper, beyond the physical. The two of them start to take a journey that neither of them want to come back from. This book was completely unexpected in the most amazing ways. One, there was no bullshit between the main characters - I love the fact that they continued to fight and support each other and never went through angst or regret amongst themselves. Also, as a mental health professional, I may be slightly biased, but the fact is that this book centered around “disabilities” and mental health in athletes made me fall in love with it more than I thought I would. It is definitely a topic that isn’t talked about enough in books, and the fact that much of the issues was the male character was even more amazing; to see things from the male point of view which is still considered pretty taboo today. The other aspect that completely drew me in were the two main characters. Callie, while she struggles with her own things, you can see the work she has put in. She is beautiful inside and out and became a wonderful foundation for Evan. However, Evan, oh my, I am so in love with him. From the beginning of the book, you can feel his pain and you just want to reach out and hug him. The way he goes about improving his own mental health, it just took a lot of bravery and you could totally feel it in the character. Also, I don’t want to give anything away, but there is one major aspect about him that just makes him so endearing, which really goes against everything we know about hot athletes. The growth he does because of Callie’s love is just remarkable and really inspiring. The fact that his family members were also amazing characters just made me love him and the life he leads even more. This book really shows you that mental health is a problem for so many and really needs to be discussed more - not frowned upon. Also the support that Evan receives is a great reminder to others that you don’t know what people are going through and you should be kind and just love a person for where they are. Mental health issues are not someone being weak, it is someone who needs a little bit of help to get back on their journey!!

Evan Adler is officially my favorite Adler! 😍 He is a beautifully flawed character who deserves the HEA he gets. Evan was a NHL player for the Ice Cats, with his twin Owen, but he became crippled with anxiety and chose to quit the NHL, going home to battle his demons and figure out what he’s going to do with his life. In the meantime, he’s going to finish up his studies at Bellevue University, while working as a trainer for Gymbulls gymnastics team and being the RA for the Bullies hockey team hou Evan Adler is officially my favorite Adler! 😍 He is a beautifully flawed character who deserves the HEA he gets. In the meantime, he’s going to finish up his studies at Bellevue University, while working as a trainer for Gymbulls gymnastics team and being the RA for the Bullies hockey team house. Callie is an elite gymnast, on the Gymbulls team at Bellevue, and has crushed on Evan for a while - her BIL plays for the Ice Cats. When Callie finds out that Evan will be attending Bellevue, she realizes this is her opportunity to take her shot with him and is pleasantly surprised when she discovers Evan is her team’s new trainer - thank goodness for her weak ankles! 😉 This is a book FULL of love - familial and romantic 💕. Evan is loved so hard by his family it actually brought me to tears a couple of times - he was desperately afraid of disappointing them and not living up to the ‘Adler legacy’ but they just kept on loving and reassuring him until their love for him was stronger than the voice of his anxiety in his own mind! And Callie?? Man, that girl is ferocious when it comes to those she loves and she was so, so good for Evan - she lifted him up, she gave him a kind of confidence his family couldn’t and she just loved him, so hard! Not to mention the sexual chemistry between them! 🔥😍 There are many hilarious LOL moments, with both the Adler and Brooks families present you can’t really expect anything else, but some of the conversations between Evan and Owen had me in stitches - let’s just say I’ll never look at Winnie the Pooh the same again! 🤣😉 Once again Toni Aleo gives us a book where her characters battle real, crippling and every day mental health issues that the reader can not only relate to but also take hope from - to hope that you will defeat your demons, find someone who loves you in spite of them and get your HEA. BUT she doesn’t trivialize the healing process - you know, fall in love and suddenly I’m cured? 🙄 Instead we walk with her characters through their hard work, their treatments; we see them fall but get up and start again, more determined this time; we see the true grit and courage it takes to fight mental illness and become the best version of yourself you can be. It’s raw, it’s real and it’s true Toni Aleo perfection.

In Saved By Love we finally get Evan Adler's story and it was absolutely awesome. It can stand alone but it is also best read if you read these two books before as both main characters have backstories in these books: Callie Pearce is featured in Nico and Aviva's story in Wild Tendy, part of the Ice Cats #2 series. Aviva is Callie's sister. Both Aviva and Nico are a huge part of this story. Aviva is Callie's sister. Both Aviva and Nico are a huge part of this story. Evan Adler is the twin brother of Owen Adler whose story is told in All the Sauce, part of Ice Cats #4 and features Owen's romance with Angie Paxton. Both characters are also heavily featured in this story so I suggest you read that book because Evan is also a huge part of their story. In this book Evan is now in college at Bellevue and he meets Callie, who is a gymnast at his part time job. They have a very strong connection but its also a bit of a conflict of interest as they work with each other at the gym. In addition, Nico who is Callie's family HATES the Adler family and is extremely opposed to Callie and Evan's relationship. In this story Evan is at a crossroads. He has quit professional hockey because of heavy anxiety and he is trying to decide if that is permanent or something he never wants to do again. Being as he comes from a hockey family with a mom who owns a team and hockey stars within his family and his twin brother is on a hockey team. This is a huge deal for him. There is also a side story about breast cancer and even though Callie is not sick and has never had cancer she has had her breasts removed because her sister, Aviva has struggled with Breast Cancer and she never wants to get it. The author did an amazing job showing us how Callie deals with this as a young twenty year old who made this really big and serious decision and how it impacts her life. Both characters were absolutely awesome. They become friends and then something more and something the other one really needs. As a couple these two form a partnership and a huge support system that was absolutely wonderful. I loved how they accept each other imperfections and are so accepting and loving with each other. Evan and Callie show a huge depth for love, family and friendship and I adored this story so much. I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Toni Aleo is one of the reigning queens of hockey romance, and she lives up to all of the hype and wonderful reviews she gets from her readers. I’m so glad I discovered her several years ago. Now, it’s Evan and Callie’s turn to share their story with us, and what a beautiful story it is. Evan has come home to Nashville after retiring from the NHL. He is taking the time to focus on his mental health. Now, he finds himself surrounded by women gymnasts instead of hockey players. Evan has come home to Nashville after retiring from the NHL. He is taking the time to focus on his mental health. Now, he finds himself surrounded by women gymnasts instead of hockey players. He has just begun his job as the athletic trainer for the gymnastics team. Callie and Evan’s paths have crossed before, as Callie’s sister is married to a hockey player, but they have never really had the opportunity to get to know each other. When Callie sees him jogging one day with the hockey team, she decides she is going to take her chance with him. Her lust soon turns to something deeper when she discovers that he is struggling with feelings of worthlessness and being a failure. Both of them are soon on the path to finding out what true love really is and how it can truly save you…hence the perfect title of this book, Saved by Love! I admired both Callie and Evan. I could totally relate to both of them. Evan feels like a failure for leaving the NHL because of his family’s legacy in the sport. He feels as if he is letting them down, especially his father. Who hasn’t felt at times that we have disappointed those we love? I know I have felt that way myself, even though I may not have. It was the same for Evan. I admired his tenacity and his focus on his mental health and his commitment to ridding himself of those feelings of worthlessness and failure. While Cassie wants to make everyone she is around to feel the love and support that she has from her sister and brother-in-law, she still struggles with trust because of her family’s past issues. She hasn’t been able to let someone in to share those deep feelings of uncertainty and fear. Somehow, Evan is able to do just that! While I loved the characters, both the main characters and secondary ones, I loved the story even more. Aleo always dives deeply underneath the surface and tackles important issues which make both the characters and story more realistic and relatable. Aleo never disappoints and that is what puts her on top of my list of favorite writers.

2.5 stars I usually love all the books in this series and all the other ones Toni Aleo releases but this book just wasn't my favorite. I appreciated how strong Callie was as a heroine being able to move on from her past struggles in life and making attempts to right them. I personally feel like some of the personalities that we saw from Callie and Evan in other books got a little lost. Like Evan's faint mentions of his hockey career which lasted his whole life up until the start of this book. Also Callie's history with cancer in her family was almost an after thought in this book. Callie's relationship with Nico in this book made me question Wild Tendy a bit and was just heart wrenching and kind of took focus of most of the book which was kind of annoying. Multiple things in this book just ticked me off while reading. The main thing being the consistency of names and personalities throughout this book and previous books. I noticed that the few times Boon's (Power Play,Bring It Home) name was spelled incorrectly. Instead of it being Boon how it's spelled out in his books its spelled Boone which happens multiple times throughout the story. Also I noticed that the name of Shelli and Aiden's kid didn't match the name that was given in Dirty Toe Drag

This new generation of Assassins/Bullies/Ice Cats are killing me....and it's not just the freaking awesome characters Toni Aleo has created and their real life struggles. I was almost sobbing not even 10% into the book when Evan went home. The love he gets from Elli and Shea is just wonderful, I fully expect Elli to be the "mama bear" but Shea had me going. He's just busting with prided for his kids, not matter what they do! Enough about my love for all things Assassins/Bullies/Ice Cats, this newest Bullies book brings us Evan, struggling with his mental health after leaving the Ice Cats, his twin Owen and the NHL to focus on himself and his happiness. He ends up at Bellevue (of course) as the hockey house RA and the gymnastic team trainer and quickly falls for Callie. (Did this blindside anyone else? I had NO idea that Aviva's little sister was the main character!) A little bit of flirting, a lot of ankle tape and some morning runs and soon Evan and Callie find themselves falling for each other. Their relationship is slow and steady with Callie giving Evan the space and love to heal. I was a little put off by Nico and his behavior, but he redeemed himself in the end and showed us why we love him so much. It was difficult enough for him to face his own feelings, and now he is watching Callie grow up and find love with Evan. AS always, I read through this way too fast because although I knew the HEA was coming, I couldn't get to it fast enough. One of my favorites (I seem to say that about most of Toni's books) but how can you resist Evan and Callie with a side of Elle, Shea, Aviva and Nico?!?!?!
