These 2 stories set in the Hoops world were good. I liked that with the first one Deck and Avery were older and wiser and didn't let a good thing go. Much the same could be said with the second one with Quinn and Ean. I was glad that Quinn let Ean in, she deserved so much good in her life. These 2 stories set in the Hoops world were good. The author creates a story that is fully deep and emotional. The discovery of love between Decker and Avery is a slow burn, full of sexual tension and eventually blissful love. Fast Break- Kennedy Ryan is masterful. A novella that is absolutely perfect in every way. Its construction is flawless as is the storytelling. You get completely immersed in the characters and before you know it, the epilogue appears and it’s over. Quinn Barrows is someone you want to be friends with. She is amazing, strong, resilient, and a woman whose has dealt with adversity and risen above anything she could have imagined. Ean Jagger is a man who decides that in order to get what he wants he has to go after what he wants at all cost. Quinn and Ean’s relationship is full of great banter and deep emotions. While the novella is short, a full and emotional story is given to the readers. It was great to see Banner Morales-Foster make a cameo along with August West. And let me just say, this novella is not to be missed!! It’s perfect in every way❤️

They met 10 years ago when his towel dropped during a locker room after-game interview. Mac had already tried asking out Avery but she turned him down and faced ridicule from her male co-workers. Now they meet up again a decade later when he steps in to co-host with her on her sports live chat show. Mac wants her still and is working hard to convince her. Avery is still dealing with grief and pain from the loss of her fiancé. I loved how meant to be Mac and Avery were, he was there for her grief but also to help her feel again and pick up all the pieces with her. Such a beautiful story! CW: grief, depression, discussion of suicide of a loved one >>>Fast Break “She turns my head. She speeds my pulse. She makes me want to slow down.” Ean is 40-years-old and a busy NBA coach (for the team Long Shot’s August West plays for). While speaking at August’s basketball camp he sees the next guest speaker is Quinn and sticks around for her discussion. Quinn is doing it all, the former world class sprinter-turned limb loss activist owns a gym in LA, has a fitness app, a NYT bestseller, and is an international speaker. And Ean cannot get enough of Quinn, he hasn’t been able to stop thinking of her from when he first saw her years ago. He doesn’t let the chance to ask her out on a date pass him by, he even travels to one of her jam-packed scheduled of speaking engagements to ask her out! I loved seeing these two together and how they both overcame obstacles in their lives and love the life they are leading right now. The passion and connection they have was just everything! I also loved seeing Banner in this as well, she’s Quinn’s best friend. CW: reference to a past suicide attempt

I love the HOOPS series and am excited that the sexy and poignant novellas from the HOOPS world are now together in one set! ~ FULL COURT PRESS I absolutely loved Avery and Deck's second chance romance! I first read and loved their story in Full Court Press, when it was originally published in the TEAM PLAYER Anthology. To my delight, Ms Ryan has expanded this already emotional and beautiful romance with all new content and epilogue, making it even more perfect! This story is about the meeting of two souls when they were just beginning their careers. Avery and Deck made an electric connection, but at the wrong time, making it awkward, and embarrassing. They have never forgotten each other and have frequently thought about the 'What If's'. Now years later they are thrust together again, but they are not the same people. They both have suffered in different ways. I loved Deck and his determination to make amends and to finally make Avery his. "It was my chance to unwind the labyrinth that has been Avery all these years. To understand her and get a glimpse of what’s beneath all that control. It’s beautiful. So beautiful that now I’m addicted to her honesty and her vulnerability and her boldness and her brand of brokenness." This is a poignant tale filled with sexual tension and second chances. Ms Ryan created an exquisite story that moved me to tears and made me believe in soul mates. ~ FAST BREAK takes us on a touching, poignant, and sexy journey. It is so exquisitely written that once I started, I couldn't stop reading until the very last word. Ean and Quinn are so great together. Quinn is a survivor, learning what true beauty is and being blessed for it. Ean is the new coach for the San Diego Waves Basketball Team. He has wanted to meet Quinn for over a year, being captivated by her resilience, passion and fire. He isn't easily deterred when she keeps her distance. He's a fighter and isn't afraid to work and prove to her that he is her perfect match. I loved this story so much! This may be a quick story, but it is so alluring and seductive and makes you feel every emotion. I loved every moment of this beautiful romance, wanting more, but was totally satisfied.

Just enough Ms. Ryan is extremely consistent at what she does. I had read the first short before and it mattered not to my heart, I still felt deeply for Avery. The first short was about Avery and Deck finally taking a chance on the chemistry between them. When they first meet it was energy and something else between them. Avery is now a big time journalist and Deck is finding his way post amazing NBA career. Their paths cross and that undercurrent of energy still runs between them. Needless to say they struggle with the demands of their careers, but Avery struggles to overcome her past relationship that came to a devastating end. Deck however is so sweet, patient, and understanding as he encourages her to take the time to heal because he wants it all with her. I admired their love because I was tired for them as they found ways to ensure that their relationship worked. The second short I had not read and it had me boohooing. Quinn was running in the Olympics when her life would forever change. She wakes up and realizes everything she had pushed herself for was no longer possible. She found herself wondering if there was anything to live for. Enters Banner one of my faves from the Hoops' series to help her find a new purpose. That purpose eventually leads to the admiration of Coach Jagger. I mean she had the man enthralled; jumping through hoops like he wasn't an NBA coach with a tight schedule. Fear and self doubt damn near ended them before they got started. Luckily Jag stayed the course and they both got to experience a love neither of them knew was possible. I gave y'all the sweet version of both stories, but in the midst of all this love there was some firework love making that added all types of spice. Two short reads worth the time. In fact read the ENTIRE Hoops series, I'm telling you, you will not regret it.

FULL COURT PRESS is a captivating story of second chances at love, basketball, and the world of sports media. Mack Decker and Avery Hughes have an unforgettable first meeting that colors the rest of thier adult lives. The attraction between them is instant, but the love they share is timeless. Theirs is a story riddled with pain and answered by healing. Mack and Avery are each strong, talent individuals who have made their mark in the sport of basketball and the sportsmedia world. The passion and focus yhat lead to their individual successes make them a perfectly matched pair in love and life. The way Kennedy Ryan breaks down the human condition and finds its perfect parallels from the game of basketball is masterful. Is a sports novella supposed to make a reader cry? FAST BREAK did that to me. It is gutsy, raw, and filled with a beautiful honesty which pierced my soul. Quinn Barrow and Ean Jagger are two very charismatic and intriguing characters Kennedy Ryan's readers met earlier in her Hoop Series Novels. It is equally nerve-wracking and magical to watch these two powerhouses connect with each other in this shorter work. Their magnetic attraction combined with the combustible nature of their ineractive chemistry makes for one hot and romantic tale. In FAST BREAK, Kennedy Ryan writes an inspiring and emotional story that will have you fanning yourself and wiping the tears from your eyes. What is always best about her writing continues to shine true - HOPE. Kennedy always reminds us as long as there is life in one's body, there is hope. She makes us believe we are never so boken that we cannot mend. She reinforces our faith in the belief there is someone out there who will accept us and love us for exactly who we are. FAST BREAK is truly a story that will stoke the fires which burn deep in heart of romance readers. This Novella Duo, HOOPS SHORTS, reminds me exactly why Kennedy Ryan is an automatic buy author for my book collection. She never fails to ignite my brain or my heart. Her creations are always delicious food for the soul. These HOOPS SHORTS are no exception.

Understandably, Avery had hesitance in starting a new relationship but Deck was patient. I loved his willingness to wait and the way he truly cared for Avery and wanted more than a fling. Avery was full of grit and determination, you couldn’t help being inspired. Their story was emotional, sexy sweet and one you won’t want to end. And wow, just when you thought it couldn’t get better, you have Jacob Morgan and Mari narrating and they did a phenomenal job. They brought out all the emotions for a story you truly felt. Fast Break “She turns my head. She speeds my pulse. She makes me want to slow down.” Ok so I am a full on sucker for the “he falls first”! Ean was a dreamboat. I loved how was tenacious in going for what he wanted. From changing meetings last minute to flying out for a day, he was willing to go whatever it took to prove to Quinn he was the man for her. Quinn though, my gawd she was more than a survivor, she was straight up #goals. It was the resilience for me. Her and Ean’s story hit you right in the feels. It was a sizzling hawt romance that you will devour and have you wishing for more. Conner Crais and Andi Arndt just slayed the narration. They made the perfect Ean and Quinn and brought this story to life.

Through the years, their paths crossed, but they were with other people. 10 years and a whole plane full of baggage later, they are brought together again. However, that doesn't mean the timing is right as Avery has been through hell and is closed off to men. Question is, can Deck break through that wall she surrounds herself with? Decker and Avery have so much chemistry! It is such a slow burn I was just waiting for them to combust! Fast Break: How does Kennedy Ryan do it? She can make you feel in very few pages! This novella is absolutely incredible! Kennedy just has an amazing way with words. The only thing I didn't care for in this novella is that it is only a novella! I want more of Ean and Quinn. They have amazing chemistry and Ean is such a gentleman until it is not time to be. Quinn is fierce and strong. She has risen from the ashes to get where she is. They are absolute perfection!

I knew I would love this story because Quinn is a badass who has come through an extreme trial and is inspiring thousands by telling her story. I love that she found love, and Ean?! His tenacity, bravery and the way he pursued her?! SWOOOOOOOON. A man of few words but when he speaks… walls come down. Quinn’s that is. 💜 I have listened and read these multiple times because they are just so passionate and powerful. The narrators do a wonderful job, but Kennedy’s way with the written word will always have my heart. Happiness, joy, raw pain, and inspiration all packed into these two! Also the favourite ingredient of all - SPICE. 🌶🌶🌶 You know Kennedy brings the heat.

Full-Court Press: From my review of Hoops Holiday... Man I don't know how she did it, but Kennedy Ryan managed to write a sincerely "whole" feeling story in a short novella. This is only the second book that I have read of Kennedy's, but once again she has made me feel the story deep in my heart, as corny as that may sound. Her writing is beautiful and so, SO damn meaningful. She tackles hard issues with poise and grace and it's just icing on the cake that a perfectly steamy romance is included! Hoops Shorts by K. Ryan contains the previously published novellas Fast Break and Full Court Press, Decker and Avery's story. I review Fast Break by Kennedy Ryan. And with FB, a Hoops Novella, she nailed it again. Meet Ean Jagger, he's an 40 year old NBA head coach and his only weakness is a certain former sports star. Quinn Barrow is an oustanding heroine, a fighter, strong, perfectly imperfect and nothing slows her down. She's reluctant to add Ean to her full calender, but he doesn't give up. I think my favorite story was Avery and Deck. Because it was the more flushed out story. There was a lot more depth between them with Avery’s past and overcoming the death of her husband and the guilt that came along with loosing him. While both stories are very short, I did feel more of a connection with Avery. While I myself have not lost a loved one in that sense, I do on another level feel connected with her more than Quinn. I still loved the book, and I love seeing everyone within the Hoops world get a happily ever after.

Where do I even start? This book is a 4.5 star but turned into 5 stars overall. The spice is definitely 5/5 stars in my opinion. This is the first thing I have read by Kennedy Ryan which may be backwards since I should have read the other hoops novels first, but this was gifted to me so I immediately read it the day it arrived. The writing style was immaculate. The spicy scenes were so good I had to tab my favorite moments which is something I’ve never done before. Deck was definitely my favorit Where do I even start? As I read the book I imagined him as Zay from The Ultimatum on Netflix. All in all this novella was amazing and I didn’t want their stories to end! Great work miss Kennedy!

I adore everything Kennedy Ryan writes, so I was especially pleased to read this extension to the Hoops series. I can't decide on a favorite between the two novellas. I have wanted to read Avery and Deck's story for so long. They are so fabulous, and seeing their origins was amazing. And then to read Quinn's story. She has always inspired me, so getting to know her better was powerful. As is always the case with Kennedy Ryan's writing, I laughed, I cried, and I want more. Novellas are a tricky format that not every author can pull off and I think Kennedy Ryan makes a really good effort with the Hoops Shorts. However, I think her strength as a writer comes with the emotional depth and character exploration that can only truly be best executed in full length novel format. That's not say I didn't enjoy these novellas because I definitely did. I actually prefer them to several of her full length pieces. She explores some really hard topics with so much care. 1 old novella, 1 new novella. This book is comprised of 1 old novella and 1 new novella, both end at 87%. The rest of the book is the first chapter of Hoops book 1. I’m only going to review the new material. Written in dual first person POV. Good amount of sexy times for the length of the novella. It tells the story of Jag (August’s coach, Hoops book 1) and Quinn (Banner’s bff, Hoops book 2). It’s quick and mostly lighthearted but there are discussions of Quinn’s suicidal ideation and recovery f 1 old novella, 1 new novella. 𝟓|𝟓⭐️ 𝟑.𝟗𝟓|𝟓🌶 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: I LOVED this novella series so much. I laughed, cried, swooned so HARD & fell HEAD OVER HEELS for two more couples from the HOOPS world. Mrs. Ryan gave us… • Angst • Passion • SPICE 😮‍💨🔥 • ROMANCE & REDEMPTION Be sure to check contents warnings. Triggers include: • Mention Of suicidal thoughts | attempts • Depression • Death of a partner by suicide • Emotional Trauma 1000000% Recommended 🔥👌🏽

Changed Me Fast Break made me weep. I needed Quinn’s vulnerability, honesty, the speech she gave at the end of this book. I lost my fight these last couple years too and her words, her struggles, her resilience stoked the embers of hope that have finally started burning. Full Court Press was so much in the sorrow and it was good and cathartic as someone who also lives with depression, but Fast Break gave me the hope I needed.

I read full- court press last years, which is Avery and Decker’s story and I quite enjoyed it I gave it 3stars. However, I think Ean and Quinn stole the show for me in Fast Break, in true Kennedy fashion their story was raw and beautiful and absolutely swoon worthy. I honestly want a full length book about them, it was that good.

I wanted to read Quinn's story ever since I first read Block Shot, where we meet her as Banner's friend and client, and I'm so glad I finally got he opportunity in this novella collection. These two novellas were everything I came to expect from Kennedy Ryan - they are emotional, sexy, sweet and carry a message of resilience, strenght and power of love. wow These two stories were amazing quick reads that had it all in them. Both men chasing a love that they knew was there. They just had to convince their woman of this. Great quick reads with all the emotion. Narration was awesome too.

For fans of the Hoops series, I particularly enjoyed Deck and Avery’s story, and only wished Quinn’s and Ean’s story was longer because I really enjoyed these characters and there stories. I hope to see more of them! Beautifully written as always. 4.5
